I've come here several times. One of my favorite spots to snag a coffee and a small bite to eat. They are typically always busy so prepare for a wait ! They work pretty quickly as well for how busy they are. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor is typically taken by people doing work or schooling - but they outside is typically open depending on how busy they are ! They've also got a little free library on the side of the business ! It's such a warm environment and I love stopping by. Will forever be my go-to coffee spot.

My usual getting me through the day starting early in the morning.

I definitely believed that I had already submitted a review for this business. I love getting my mocha latte fix from them. I have met and encountered some amazing people and I have also enjoyed being greeted so well and warmly welcomed by be staff. Even on busy days, they value personal acknowledgment. I have never had a negative experience here and I will continue to visit and purchase when I am able. It is not a large space, but it is a coffee shop with limited seating indoors and outside. Heck out their seasonal offerings. I have put people on to their tea blends, too.

Blueberry matcha with cold foam! A bit light on the matcha for me but good matcha flavor. Couldn't taste much blueberry

Very cute interior and bomb creative drinks! Love their seasonal offerings and everyone is always friendly. The themed merch they sell is very enticing, I'll probably have to get one at some point.

This is my favorite coffee in Richmond! The atmosphere is always so welcoming and the staff are so friendly. My favorite drink is the crime of passion tea. I get it iced with little room for sweetener (simple syrup). I've tried some of the pastries and the chimbo club sand-which. Both were very flavorful and fresh. Next time, you're in church hill, stop by!

I ordered a standard iced vanilla latte, which was okay. I didn't end up finishing the drink because I felt there was something off about the flavor, possibly tasted a little watered down, but not from milk (if that makes sense). My partner got the seasonal special tiramisu cold brew, which didn't have a strong tiramisu flavor. This might have been due to the non-diary option that was only available since they ran out of diary ones. Drinks were made quickly though and staff were really friendly! Overall, still a cute local coffee shop within the neighborhood of Church Hill.

Great coffee and baked goods! Very friendly staff. Definitely a place you need to visit if you are in the area.

Riverbend is a beautiful and welcoming space in Church Hill, nearby cute shops and beautiful homes. They have a tasty menu of both drinks and food. I tried the Cali Dream and the Tiramisu Cold Brew, both 10/10! I recommend Riverbend! They are Woman & Queer owned!

Another fantastic experience at THE coffee shop in the hill! Cali-dream sandwich was so good that I got one to-go for a busy day tomorrow. My barista gave it to me "deconstructed" so it would not get soggy overnight. So thoughtful! You need to try the Blueberry + Cream latte before fall flavors come out. Delicious!!

First time in and I'll definitely be back!! Seating outside and inside and high ceilings. The whole team was so kind and they're LGBTQ+ friendly! I got an iced yerba mate with strawberry flavor and lemonade. Yum!! I also grabbed a sandwich to go. Turkey, cream cheese, tomato, and so much more! I'll be back to try coffee drinks and more food items.

I moved to Richmond 6 months ago. I didn't know what to expect. This coffee house is Richmond in a nutshell. The coffee is great; you can't go wrong with any of their lattes, though my favorite is the sugar cookie latte. The prices are very reasonable (though I did move from CA where lattes are double the price for less quality), and the quality is great. This coffee house punches above its weight. But the best aspect of Riverbend is how they welcome everyone. I felt welcomed and have made it part of my morning routine to come here and get my coffee before work. And when I bump into the staff outside Riverbend, they're quick to say hello. And they're a huge supporter of human rights for all.

Only planned to come here one day so that we could try other places but came back two days in a row for the salty bee and my husband said the light roast drip coffee was great too! Nice outdoor seating and a water bowl for the pups.

I've been coming here for years, for family vacations. They are very friendly, they have a great vibe. Food and coffee is always excellent! I'm a huge fan of their Yerba mate lemonade spritz!

I stopped in before work for a quick bite to eat and coffee. While I usually find an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich quite boring this one was phenomenally executed. The egg was so well seasoned and they have a great hot sauce packet from West Creek that was to die for. My coffee was the honey bee latte and it was perfectly bold and not sweet which I really appreciated. Ambiance is cool and eclectic. Queer friendly

Five stars, easily…read more Ironclad Coffee Roasters lives in a gorgeous old firehouse (1805 on the door) in Richmond, and the space alone is worth the trip -- soaring ceilings, exposed brick, a grand piano in the middle of the floor, vintage globe pendants, and a loft seating area in soft pink. Equal parts coffee shop and living room, with a clothing rack and plants everywhere. There's even an "Ironclad National Park" mural in the courtyard out back. The drinks deliver on the atmosphere. I got the Yama drip cold coffee topped with a generous mound of vanilla bean chantilly -- you can see the actual vanilla flecks -- and an iced mocha that came garnished with a chocolate-dipped coconut macaroon perched on the lid. Nice touch, and not something you see every day. The menu philosophy is right there on the board: local Richlands dairy, house-made syrups and pastries, French butter, award-winning specialty coffee (they've got the roasting competition medals to back it up). "No corners cut. No fimble-famble." Hot coffee runs $4-6, cold coffee $4.50-5.50, plus tea drinks, organic refreshers, and a solid lineup of house syrups. A few things worth knowing: it's specialty pricing, so a latte will run you $6, and the garage-door front means great light but it can get warm. Parking is street-only. Bottom line -- distinctive space, thoughtful drinks, and clear pride in the craft. If you're in Richmond and care about your coffee, go.

You can't miss it. Step inside and the corner location pays off -- gorgeous afternoon light pouring through a row of vintage stained glass set above the front windows, throwing color all over the pink-and-white interior. Chandelier with little fabric shades, topiary along the ledge, counter seating to watch the street. Charming spot. One small heads-up: the menu is a digital screen, and it wasn't working when I visited -- so you're ordering a bit blind, leaning on the bakery case and whatever the staff can tell you. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing going in. And you're really here for the baked goods, which hold up. The kouign-amann was the standout -- deeply caramelized, lacquered, shatteringly flaky with that signature sugar crust. I also grabbed two macarons (a berry-pink one and a teal with chocolate filling) that were exactly right: crisp shell, chewy center, generous filling. No complaints. The case is stocked with range -- lemon bars, quiche, chocolate cherry walnut cookies, confetti sandwich cookies, Florentines, a vegan peanut butter option, pineapple upside-down, and more. Plenty of GF and vegan labeling, which is nice to see. You can watch them pulling fresh trays from the proofer behind the counter. A few other notes: it's a small operation, so selection depends on what's come out of the oven that day, and the working area behind the counter is tight and a little cluttered (charming, but not polished). Corner parking is street-only and that intersection gets busy. Bottom line -- a genuinely good Richmond bakery with real pastry chops and a beautiful corner space. Get the kouign-amann before they sell out.

There were a lot of church goers enjoying the business. Proper has a menu in the window to guide customers on choices of savory, or sweet. I wanted one of each. The man at the window was great in providing recommendations. I ordered the steak and cheese as well as the Banoffee. The preparation is already done and the man with assistant moved quickly to complete my order. I enjoyed my treats at their outdoor table and also enjoyed conversation with locals. I started with the steak & cheese which was loaded with meat and cheese. DELICIOUS! Then onto the Banoffee which smelled heavenly of cocoa. Another home run! I love bananas and if you do too this will be enjoyable. So glad I found them open on my visit. There hours are very good, but I have missed them in the Summer before on vacation. Just go, no brainer.
