Riverbend Roastery's community vibe is 10/10!! This has the dream local coffee shop vibe. It's beyond cozy, has great seating indoors and outdoors, and is just so Richmond. It's always packed when I visit and I understand why. They have a huge selection of coffee and teas to pick from as well as food options. They also have creative seasonal drinks. If you're from RVA, you'll probably run into someone you know if you come on the weekend (it always happens to me). I recently came for the fun art pop-up they were doing with ugly portraits of beautiful people. I enjoyed trying their sugar cookie latte (it was the last chance this year to try the winter special). It came with a sugar cookie shaped like a snowflake. Earlier that week I got the violet matcha which was a sneak peak at the spring menu. Cute place with a really impressive menu! We tried a few coffee shops in Richmond and this was our favorite. I tried the pineapple upside down latte, which had to be one of the most unique lattes I've ever had, and it was delicious- never would have thought these flavors went together. Just a really fun vibe too- there was a special latte when we went that was dedicated to a one-star review they'd gotten, you have to love it. I've come here several times. One of my favorite spots to snag a coffee and a small bite to eat. They are typically always busy so prepare for a wait ! They work pretty quickly as well for how busy they are. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor is typically taken by people doing work or schooling - but they outside is typically open depending on how busy they are ! They've also got a little free library on the side of the business ! I ordered a standard iced vanilla latte, which was okay. I didn't end up finishing the drink because I felt there was something off about the flavor, possibly tasted a little watered down, but not from milk (if that makes sense). My partner got the seasonal special tiramisu cold brew, which didn't have a strong tiramisu flavor. This might have been due to the non-diary option that was only available since they ran out of diary ones. Drinks were made quickly though and staff were really friendly! I moved to Richmond 6 months ago. I didn't know what to expect. This coffee house is Richmond in a nutshell. The coffee is great; you can't go wrong with any of their lattes, though my favorite is the sugar cookie latte. The prices are very reasonable (though I did move from CA where lattes are double the price for less quality), and the quality is great. This coffee house punches above its weight. But the best aspect of Riverbend is how they welcome everyone. I felt welcomed and have made it part of my morning routine to come here and get my coffee before work. And when I bump into the staff outside Riverbend, they're quick to say hello. And they're a huge supporter of human rights for all. read more

Strolled in around Sunday at noon and there was a line out the door! Despite the long line, the employees were friendly and efficient. My partner's All Star order got messed up and it was fixed immediately. Not too much seating indoors- we were lucky to grab a table from a family who were leaving. I wouldn't go as a group. Awesome coffee shop we hit up after a morning run through the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond. Great ambiance in the coffee shop and definitely strikes the feel of being a neighborhood sort of place where you could read a book, get some work done or just meet up with some friends/neighbors and enjoy a cup of coffee. Just two drink orders for us post-run though there were some food options that were available. Bagels seemed to be a fan favorite as just about everyone was leaving with one. I opted for a large hot coffee and the self-service bar for coffee had two different flavored coffees and then a Costa Rican, Ethiopian and a Nicaraguan roast available. I went for the medium roast Costa Rican which was an expertly roasted and brewed cup of coffee. Really good! If this was your neighborhood coffee shop you wouldn't be mad if just for the coffee! My wife went for an iced honey latte with flake sea salt and opted for her usual oat milk. She said it was good and certainly hit the spot post-run but said she'd probably try something different next time. read more

I absolutely love this place. One of my Church Hill favorites. I've been coming since I moved here and can't recommend enough. Great service always and great owners. It does get pretty busy, but it's worth the wait. Not a lot of seating, so if you do want to go and study you'll need to go early. There is also some outdoor seating. This is one of my go-to local favorites. They're in a prime location, in the heart of Church Hill proper. Street parking in the neighborhood is free typically plentiful. The cafe is pretty spacious. And even when they are slammed with customers, it's not too hard to find seating. Or just walk a couple blocks to Libby park and sit with a nice view. They also have a good amount of outdoor seating. People often bring their dogs/other pets. And water for the pets is provided. I believe only service animals are allowed inside the café, but most pets will sit in the outdoor seating area. Riverbend is accessible to most disabled folks. A wheelchair could get inside with some effort to get over the slightly elevated entrance step. And I have seen firsthand the staff ensure a comfortable seating space for a disabled person during their peak time on a Saturday morning when the place is packed. Riverbend is a great spot to come work, meet with friends, or take a date. The staff are super friendly and always greet you with a smile on their face. Sometimes they're found singing joyfully. They always make you feel welcome. They do incredible seasonal drinks. It's hard to say which is my favorite bc they make so many that are amazing. But if you're unsure of what to pick, just ask the staff for suggestions and they'll help you out. Today I got a matcha latte, which was delicious. I prefer their hot matcha to the iced. They also have many delicious teas (for the non coffee drinkers) and yummy snacks. But my favorites tend to be their specialty lattes. read more

What a local gem! If you come on the weekend, there'll surely be a line. But all the employees will work as efficiently as possible with a smile on their face to keep the line moving. I got an iced pumpkin chai which was so delicious! To eat, I had the all star with sausage on an everything bagel and it was phenomenal. Surprisingly flavorful for a breakfast sandwich without any sauces. All of the prices are very reasonable too. There's some seating both in and outside, but Libby hill or Chimborazo park are a short walk if you want to enjoy your goodies with a view! I'll definitely be coming back and hope they have their peaches sandwich again at some point because I would love to try it. read more

Riverbend is one of my favorite coffee shops in Richmond. My go-to coffee drink is a plain iced coffee and they do it so well. During the colder months, I recommend their cappuccinos, they're some of the best. Additionally, they have lots of seasonal drinks that never disappoint. If you're hungry, Riverbend also had a good selection of treats and pastries that are both sweet and savory. They are made fresh and you can certainly tell. There are are numerous tables for indoor seating if you plan to come with a friend or do some work while drinking your coffee. It's beautiful and spacious with a rustic vibe.
