I thought after 20 years of loyalty I should get a bit of a break. The customer service person was rude and told me I wasn't getting anything. I asked to get a delivery at the price lock price and would look at a price lock at another time. I was told an oil delivery without a price lock would be $6.49 I requested to speak with a manager She said one would call me. No one ever called im not sure how a business feels it is right to treat a customer for two decades this way. It is mind boggling to me that they remain in business. If you are looking for an oil company stay as far away from valley oil as possible.if they will treat a 20 year customer this way how will they treat you.

Valley Oil in Portland refuses to bring my home oil due to our "muddy driveway", despite having a…read moreclear path from the road to walk the hose up to the house. After calling and communicating that we have no oil to heat our home, the excuse from the supposed "men" that work there was that "a rock may puncture the oil hose". I have lived at my residence now, 20 years. When oil was delivered from other places, the hose on the ground was never an issue. Not only that, but I have also communicated that we do not have the funds to fill our oil tank from empty. Despite asking Valley Oil to come deliver to us at 1/4 of a tank, they insist that their monthly schedule would accommodate that. We have run dangerously low on oil all winter. Not to mention, the almost $700 bill to fill the tank has caused financial hardship on our family. My youngest daughter & I have been more than accommodating; going without oil, shoveling designated paths from the street... If us women can handle walking up the driveway & taking care of this then I would hope the workers from Valley Oil would be able to do the same.

We had an awful experience with this company. - They…read moreinstalled a defective furnace in our home that made a loud banging noise (likely a refurbished product). They gaslit us for weeks, saying we were imagining the noise. After multiple follow-ups initiated by us (they didn't want to fix it), they reluctantly admitted they heard the noise and installed the correct furnace. - According to the Town of Madison, Wilcox installed a water heater without obtaining the necessary permit for installation - proof they cut corners to save a few bucks at the expense of safety and compliance. - Upon requesting propane delivery, they delivered the propane to the wrong house (they are so incompetent that they couldn't even remember the house they delivered to), but sent us the bill! They acted like it was no big deal, showing complete disregard for the safe handling of dangerous gases. When they showed up at my house post-error (they assumed it was a gauge issue at first), they inexplicably didn't even bring propane with them to fill up the tank! Despite having "reliability" and a "commitment to customer satisfaction" plastered all over their website, the owner of the company said he "didn't have the authority" to make it right and offer a credit for the hassle and inconvenience. We were gaslit again, saying we were being too hard on them and wanted empathy for the team hustling amidst staffing issues. Based on our experience, this is a sketchy, dishonest and unreliable company despite the empty BS jargon on their website - not to mention their products and services are grossly overpriced compared to their competition. UPDATE BASED ON WILCOX DIATRIBE: In Julie's long-winded diatribe, she admits they installed a furnace that didn't work (even though she comically doesn't think "defective" is a fair word), didn't obtain a water heater permit (either before or after the installation) and delivered propane to the wrong address. She conveniently didn't address someone who claimed to be the "owner of the company" (who really wasn't) not having "authority to make it right," basically admitting their website jargon is complete BS. It would be lovely if Wilcox spent as much time doing their job (which they do very poorly) as they do writing encyclopedias in response to customer reviews. They're so incompetent that they don't even realize that saying "we don't gaslight customers" is gaslighting in its purest form. Lovely company.

Dutch Oil & Propane

Dutch Oil & Dutch Propane, LLc of East Haddam and Moodus, Ct…read moreDutch Oil has great reviews and I learned they are growing! After having them mow.our lawn for approximately 6 years..we just had a very bad experience with them. One guy came to mow (usually they send 2) he mowed half of it (took at least 10 breaks that we counted in a 3 hour period) and left (not completing the job). BTW he worked extremely slow, it looked deliberate as this never happened before. I called the office and spoke with the lawn MGR after he left my property, while the job was still incomplete. I figured out this deceptive business tactic used by them after speaking to the "lawn Mgr". She basically refused to have the mower come back and finish the job tomorrow-- they didnt have time for us she said and that they had other properties to work on. They also jacked up the price from $175./ last season (2024) to $325./ for this season ( that is an 85.71% increase! ). In a previous conversation i had with "The Lawn MGR" mentioned there would be an increase and I said "I understand and agreed to the increase". And they still had the mower come to my property and behave this way. She said she would have a "field mgr. come and evaluate the property. They had plans to increase the price more. At this point I was finished with Dutch and their deceptive business tactics and fired them. The Lawn Mgr would not give me the owners name (Bruce Dutch) so i could have a conversation with him regarding this matter. Service both on the office end and mowing end has drastically diminished. I feel terrible that our once reliable good neighbor and lawn carer has resorted to this manipulative business tactic. We will no longer recommend this company for lawn, oil, propane or their customer service! You lost a good customer and your GOOD name!!!!! BTW folks there are other great companies in our immediate area that offer great prices and their services have not diminished!!!!! Ive already hired someone in less than 5 hours!!! Sheila A.
