Very spacious cafe with plenty of seating and a cozy, inviting decor. They serve Macrina Bakery pastries and baked goods, which I was excited about since I love Macrina. I ordered the triple chocolate muffin and a latte. The muffin was great, but the latte was quite weak and overly milky it tasted pretty diluted. I don't think I'll be coming back for the coffee, but that muffin definitely has me heading straight to Macrina next time. I had a disappointing experience this morning with the barista. I ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk and was charged for the oat milk, but the drink was made with regular milk. When I politely pointed this out, the barista became visibly irritated and asked the cashier whether I had actually ordered oat milk or was just claiming I had. The cashier incorrectly said I hadn't ordered it, despite the fact that I had been charged for the milk alternative. It was clearly just a mistake in how the order was written on the cup, which isn't a big deal. Mistakes happen and they were busy. I understand. What bothered me was how the situation was handled. Instead of simply remaking the drink, I felt like I was being accused of trying to get oat milk without paying for it. The interaction came across as dismissive and unnecessarily confrontational. To make matters worse, just before my drink came out, another customer politely asked where her cappuccino was after waiting quite a while. The same barista responded, "I have 15 coffees on the bar, it's coming," followed by an eye roll. I completely understand that coffee shops get busy and stressful, but that's never an excuse to be rude or make customers feel belittled. Raul enthusiastically informed me, when I asked, that the coffee is a blend of Brazilian, Columbian and Mexican coffees roasted to a medium. The more and more I taste espresso blends made from this lighter roast, the more I like it! Sorry Italy! Forgive me! I was pleased that Raul served it in a proper espresso cup by default. We are in the midst of three days without electricy and no heat at our house event, which has engendered a sense of how-are-you doing within our community I warmly said how grateful we were that they were open, mentioning we were at the town hall across the street. When I asked the young man pulling the drinks if we could use personal cups he seemed annoyed that I had asked. Tone of voice means a lot when you work in customer service. Located in a mixed use building in Redmond. There are a few outside tables if you have a dog or want to be outside, but they are a bit rusty. We enjoyed our experience indoors. There appeared to be one barista on shift but service was quick (want too busy). The coffee roast (Columbia) for the drip coffee was so good and not too acidic/sour of a roast. The Cafe Cubano was delicious! And they have a few gluten free items; we had two vegan gluten free blueberry scones and they were excellent. Needed a place to study and found this place. Its quiet and not so packed on a 12 pm weekday. Around 2 pm was when the tables started to get filled. Soft music played while conversations blended in. They have a ton of different coffee and tea specialties. They also have a menu of sandwiches to enjoy for your lunch break. One of the lattes that caught my eye was lavender + honey latte. It had a light texture with heavy caffeine. If you hang out here, they do have free wifi. Overall, I will come back here when i'm in the area. I've been meaning to stop by here for months, and I finally came around to it. It's tucked underneath one of the bigger apartment buildings, and it's located across the street from the Redmond library. There's a few tables outside where people were working or chatting with friends and family. The interior is clean and spacious. A few more people were inside having meetings and talking. It looks like a good work place. The barista was friendly and answered all my questions. The drink prices were reasonable, but I thought the baked goods were priced a little high. I liked that the place served a variety of gluten free and vegan items that are individually wrapped. I ordered a chai and a gluten free, vegan raspberry-almond scone. It was a little drier than I expected. Taste and flavor were 3/5 . The chai was good but had more of a room temperature than a nice hot chai feel. Flavor wise, it was fine. It's better than Starbucks but not the best chai I've had. I give it a 4/5 . Overall, I like the place and staff are friendly and food and beverage are decent. Big shout out to the staff for coming through during this November 2024 "bomb cyclone" weather event, especially the brutal first Wednesday morning. That's the reason for my review. Since it's attached to an apartment complex, there's no private parking lot, but we didn't have an issue finding nearby street parking. Whenever I visit an independent coffee shop, I always gravitate toward one of their specialty drinks. Based on the menu, I could see that River Trail offers many unique mochas, each with a name that hints at its flavor profile. I could take an educated guess at the ingredients within each, but ideally, they should provide a short description of every special drink on the menu for clarity. They roast their beans in-house, so I was looking for drink that would allow me to appreciate the flavor the coffee itself, but also express River Trail's signature spin. The Vanilla Cinnamon Latte ultimately caught my eye ($4.25 for 12 oz) and it was delicious! I could definitely taste a little spice from the cinnamon and the vanilla gave it a touch of sweetness. I found the strength of the coffee to be just right and the drink was well-balanced, although others may find it to be on the weaker side. I paired my latte with a warm Ham and Cheese Croissant. The croissant was flaky on the outside and soft inside from the melted cheese, but it only included one thin slice of ham. Their food options are more limited, compared to a Starbucks for example, as they have a small selection of pastries, breads and wrapped sandwiches. Pricing overall is also on the steeper end, as two drinks and two pastries totaled about $16. I wouldn't consider this an everyday stop, but more of an occasional treat. I appreciate their wide seating area with tables, booths and even a few cozy seats next to the fireplace. The shop is welcoming to guests of all ages and they even have some board games available for kids.
