My wife I were told about River Rocks by our realtor. We moved here about 3 months ago now, we've been coming to River Rocks for the last several weeks. River Rocks is a large outside deck, mostly covered, right on the river, it has different levels of seating, we like the high tables. The river views are outstanding. The food is not just good it's fun. We enjoy their fish tacos and the grouper ruben with sweet potato fries. We also love their many salads and the coconut shrimp. We bring our out of town friends in and are always treated so well. The staff and mangers treat you really nice like your family. We had a friend who was celebrating their birthday and the manager, Steve brought us over home-made keylime pie on the house. We can't say enough good things about the service and the friendliness they show. We tell everybody about how good they are. read more

This review should have zero stars but it made me give it 1 star. River Rocks is easily the worst restaurant I've been to in Brevard county and that's saying a lot. My family and I (8 of us) went to this restaurant just a few days ago. The actual design and layout of the restaurant is beautiful BUT the customer service, food and staff are TERRIBLE. When we sat down it initially took about 15 minutes for the server to attend to our table and to put in a drink order. I then ordered a filet... which came out about an hour after ordering, which I can understand because we had a bigger table BUT when my "filet" came out it was a disappointment to say the least. It was a sirloin, the presentation of the food was something you'd find at Cracker Barrell and the two sides I ordered were less than average. I asked the waiter to make sure she brought out a filet because it was looked and tasted like a sirloin and she continued to tell me it was a filet. The manager then came over about 15 minutes later and instead of apologizing or offering any type of solution she insisted I was wrong and that it was a filet. Now a little background, my family is full of steak eaters and lovers, including myself so we were highly disappointed in the entire experience here at River Rocks. AND FOR THE ICING ON THE CAKE, about 4 minutes after paying the bill the bus-boy came over to our table with his big thing to carry dishes and hovered over our table for us to leave (they still had another hour and 30 minutes to close so it's not like we were hanging out after hours) WHAT A GREAT PLACE TO GO AND SPEND $200 on a bill right?!?!?! (not to mention everyone else's food was sub-par) Now, we are never expecting anything free. We just expect to get what we ordered, not only did they NOT offer to fix the steak, offer it off the bill, offer to change it for something else or for a dessert on the house.... This was a horrible experience and I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you want to got sit somewhere pretty, get treated like you're stupid and eat sub-par food that is on the more expensive side.... look no further, this is your place! read more

First time at river rocks it was meh ok. The server was very nice and attentive. The food was meh ok nothing to complain about but nothing to get excited about either. Started with the dock dip it was meh ok kind of like a soupy fish dip served warm. I had the mahi fish sandwich meh ok not much to it kind of small hunk of well seasoned blackened fish on a gianormorse bun.My date had stuffed mahi nicely done but kind of small,the green bean vegetable of the day was horrid burnt,but raw with an awful taste. Glad I'm not vegan. Overall I give them a second chance but I'm in no hurry to go back. read more

This place used to be one of our favorite places our neighborhood of 30 people enjoyed once a month for dinner. Tonight was the last straw as the management was very indignant to our needs as a group and definitely needs to be more receptive to the customers! I hope the management realizes that we live here in the area and support the establishments all year round, not just the few months as the snowbirds do,and further more said he did not care if we were there as he would fill the seats anyway. read more

Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced! The female outdoor bartender refused to serve my group because she said, "if you're at a table, we have servers for the tables and I can't serve you." Our server was very slow and could not remember orders. My friend ordered a Pinot Grigio and revived a Sangria and when she voiced is was not right the little server girl argued with her, saying she was mistaking, unbelievable! I had to ask for my wine on 3 separate occasions and never received it. I would NEVER recommend River Rocks for happy hour or any other time. WHAT A WASTE OF AN EVENING! read more

The view is fantastic, the service has always been good, but the food isnt what it used to be. As they source their food from Cheney brothers they are left to whatever quality they in turn deliver to them. Cheney is in it for the $, not to deliver a quality food product. For instance ordered crab cake dinner last night, tasted great going down. But afterwards killer gas pains from whatever fillers they are using. My stomach churned the whole night. Ditch Cheney brothers and start buying your food locally made, need to deliver quality food again. read more

Best Soup & Salad Combo in the Space Coast: I have dined at River Rocks twice in the fall of 2011. The first of these two visits was for dinner. I had a fish entrée that was perfectly fine but nothing to turn cartwheels over. The second time I came for lunch and ordered the Soup & Salad for $9.00 and just had to say, "WOW." I combo I choose was a cup of Lobster Chowder with a small "River Rocks" salad and both were outstanding. This is without question and by substantial margin the best soup and salad meal in the Space Coast. Both the soup and the salad were so great it would by hard to say which was better. A warm soup hit the spot dining outside on a cool breezy day on River Rocks deck with a majestic view of the bay (Indian River as it is called in these parts). Lobster Chowder was a little bit of a curve ball as most restaurants serving a lobster soup serve a lobster bisque. For those that do not know the difference between and bisque and a chowder, a bisque is smooth meaning the whole thing is pureed, usually in a blender and the texture is uniform. A chowder has pieces of things in, lumps, bumps and treats of lobster chunks. At some other restaurants chefs go a little crazy with putting Sherry into their bisques and the sherry wine can overpower the rather delicate flavor of lobster. In River Rocks you can taste and see the lobster in a great cream based but not to heavy soup. I can't wait to go back for another bowl. The River Rocks salad was another pleasant surprise. My default for lunch in a place like this is to order a fish sandwich but the day before I had an awesome fish sandwich at Long Doggers, so as a fluke, I went with the soup and salad at River Rocks as a change up. The River Rocks salad was a home run. The salad was comprised of field greens, feta, candied pecans, a little shaved fennel, and watermelon chunks. The watermelon in the salad is great creative touch. Visually the diner sees it and thinks oh that must be a piece of tomato, then they bite in and go, oh yeah, I forgot, watermelon, cool, so much better than tomato. The salad came with a homemade orange balsamic vinaigrette that paired perfectly with eclectic assortments of ingredients assembled into the salad. It all just worked great together. A soup and salad at Penera bread ( count me in as a fan of the Panera Pick 2 ), runs a little over $7.00. For less than two bucks more, to get Lobster chowder, and a salad with watermelon, feta, and candied pecans is great. Add River Rocks' dock on the river to the mix and you can see why this is the best Soup & Salad in the Space Coast... ( I think it can even be ordered as a dinner). So, it's Saturday & Christmas is on Tuesday. Of course I need a drink before hitting the holiday crowds. I order a simple drink, a mimosa. My drink is first of all served to me in a cocktail glass and second it's orange juice with a splash of champagne. We were sitting in the bar area & our server was busy so I took my drink to the guy who poured it. He could see me standing there & chose to ignore me, knowing I was going to complain about my non-alcoholic beverage. Once I got his attention he said he did half champagne & half orange juice. I proceeded to give him proper instruction on a mimosa. 3/4 champagne topped off with OJ. I just told him I'd have a bloody Mary. Once I got back to my table, the waiter proceeded to tell me how they are strict on making drinks. I said it wouldn't have been any different if I had ordered a glass of wine or a glass of champagne. Once I got my bloody Mary, he asked me about 5 times (no exaggeration) how my drink was... Like I was some stuck up snob. No buddy, I'm not a snob, I just ordered an alcoholic beverage before Christmas shopping. Simple. And guess what, I'm right. You're wrong. Beat it. Service was terrible. Trendy, foofy, underperforming. It's a beautiful place located on the river with a large outside seating area at the location of the old Chowders. I've ordered several things here, including salads, seafood, and chicken, and although they aren't awful, haven't found anything yet that whets my appetite. If it weren't for the amazing view, not sure I'd ever return. Their dishes are quite peculiar, as if they're attempting to force some nouveau California-type faire they saw at a trade show. Prices are quite hefty, selections are limited, and portions are rather small. Service seems rushed and unremarkable, but thats unfortunately typical for small towns. The all-stars have left for greener pastures. Parking has been expanded and is adequate. The best part of our experience though was the server, Chris. He was so friendly and helpful when making menu choices and he was hyper cautious of my friend's gluten allergy. One of his best qualities was that he was attentive to our table but also gave us space to enjoy ourselves. Best service I've ever experienced at such an affordable price. We were charged $1500 to rent the private room for an upcoming corporate event. Our food order with libations only totaled about $600, and we were denied the use of our $900 credit to be applied towards future engagements. Our requests for gift cards were also declined. When we suggested purchasing bottles of wine it took 30 minutes of confusion and contacting a manager at home to then receive permission to purchase only 3 bottles of wine! A few of us also ordered meals but it was more than an hour past the event's ending at that time, so most of the attendees had departed, and we still had to wait for the food to be prepared. Despite our excessive credit which could not be applied at a later date, the bill totaled almost $2K as there was an additional $460 incorporated for "gratuity, service, tax, etc." Needless to say this was a disappointing end to a successful evening, and we will not be returning. Extra sad that River Rocks would not provide a resolution, especially during the holiday season. read more

I was very disappointed in the Easter Brunch at River Rocks today ! Usually a favorite restaurant -their Brunch was over priced and under whelming. The lamb was way over cooked and was not served at a carving station as one might expect but rather floating in a chasing dish with some liquid trying to hide the dry and overdone slices. On the positive side-There was an abundance of peel and eat shrimp, several salads, and the usual omelet station as well as some nice hot dishes as one would expect at a brunch. But there was only one green vegetable - green beans- and the dessert table was just pitiful! Chocolate cake and store bought cookies- that was the majority of the dessert options- no cheese cake or pies or tarts or anything creative except the brownies. I will admit those were the best brownies I've had in a long time, mixed with candied walnuts they were delicious and creative. Also the fresh strawberries and fresh creme were a nice touch. But for the price - which was originally advertised at $ 22.50 but went to $28.95 a few weeks ago - this Brunch was overpriced and definitely a disappointment. For just a dollar more last year we went to the Disney Resort in Vero for their brunch. It was spectacular! Not only shrimp but so yummy blue crab claws on the seafood bar elsewhere 2 or 3 other types of cooked fish, including crab cakes. A wonderful pasta station, an omelet station, and a carving station with lamp and ham and beef. So many different types of salads, egg dishes, and breakfast items and sides you couldn't try them all! And the desserts were decedent and creative. Pies, tarts, many yummy full size cakes of various flavors. And mini Cheese cakes, For the price of 29.00 it was well worth the cost and the travel.this is how you do a holiday Brunch! I will not pay that price and eat at another RiverRocks brunch again. If you want the lobster bisque you must go inside, can't get it outside. If you want the unconstructed cheese you must go outside. One would expect people dressed nicer inside with the pricy menu butShort shorts and dirty flip flops seem to be okay. Wife ordered Shrimp Portofino with parpadello. She got linguine instead. When mentioned to waiter he didn't apologize or get answer for us. No apology from the kitchen or manger. We should have sent it back. We were never offered water, bread or dinner salad. Waiter seemed to be the bartender doing double duty. So we went inside to get the bisque, had a mediocre meal and went outside for desert and coffee creating another check. Four of us went to enjoy the sunset. We sat inside, much to my chagrin, because my friends, at the last minute, all preferred the inside dining menu. We were seated at a window table, so I was happy, but the children with the outside patrons were all running around, throwing buckets of water on each other, running up and down a little ravine right outside the window the entire time. Not exactly peaceful for me. Perhaps I'm just a grouch. On to the food...duck was reported to not meet the expectations of my boyfriend, although I found it tasty. I do not care for duck, though. My friend got the prime rib, and had to ask for a steak knife, it was so 'stringy', in her words. Well, it's hard to tell, if you ask me, how tender a cut of beef may be if one orders it well done. My other friend got the 10oz NY strip, and said it was pretty good, and I had an appetizer salad and a mango crab stack appetizer as my main course, trying to keep it light. Everyone enjoyed their salads, just house salads, but with some candied pecans and crumbled feta in a sweet dressing. The best thing of the evening, in my opinion was the complimentary bread loaves they brought to the table with garlic-infused olive oil for dipping. It was coarse grained and airy, but with a crunchy crust. I think I sabotaged my light dinner choices with all the bread. All in all, not worth a revisit, but a nice place. We like to go to new places each time, so a place has to be pretty great in our eyes to warrant a revisit on vacation. read more

Inside Dining was horrible! We started with a glass of wine and the waiter switched the wine around. Our wedge salads were very good. Waited forever for drink refills. Then we got our entrees. Wife got the parm crusted chicken. There was a pool of oil in the middle of each chicken breast. I ordered the Mahi With lobster mashed potatoes and a side of scallops. Yuk :(. The Mahi was bland barely grilled and covered with a butter sauce that had absolutely no flavor. Reminded me of popcorn butter at the movie theater. The scallops again were bland with no flavor whatsoever. I felt like I was watching a Gordon Ramsey episode when he is served the bad food before he fixes it all. I will NEVER eat inside again. My wife and I had dinner there last night .I had the fillet and lobster the fillet was terrible but the lobster was perfect I sent the steak back and replaced it with another lobster tail . My wife had blackened dolphin and she enjoyed that .The service and view are always good ,the lobster dip was not good ,happy hour and waitress were great . Only saving grace from last nights dining experience was the company, Lisa, an awesome server and the view. The food was horrific. The filet is not actually a real filet mignon but a small portion of beef, and it took over 20 minutes to cook a new one because it was served well done to me and my guest and we ordered medium rare. The garlic mashed potatoes looked and tasted like day old, faint taste of garlic, but the green beans were great...oh I guess that is another redeeming quality. And $9 for a white sangria really. Splash of wine and some soda with a few pieces of fruit is not that costly. Its a beautiful waterfront restaurant but lacks quality. My filet, two drinks and a piece of what I thought would be cheesecake, took it to go was $50.00. The cheesecake was piped into a glob and I was expecting a slice, quite a surprise when I arrived home to present it to my 90 yo mom for a treat since she couldnt go with us. Just a terrible dining experience and will never return, and I am very easily pleased and love going out to our waterfront dining places. read more
