Such a quaint little coffee shop. Our Airbnb was only two blocks away, so this became our go to for morning coffee during our stay in Florence. They have the basic espresso drinks as well as a wide selection of sweet coffee concoctions but we only ended up trying the cappuccino. They also have little breakfast bars and pastries. We loved this place while visiting Florence! The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because they were selling African Dwarf Frogs in these tiny biospheres that were not only too small for them to thrive, but also not warm enough from what I know about these kinds of frogs. From the moment you walk in it's easy to tell this is a special place that's is in the center of this community. Almost every seat indoors was full of people visiting or working in small groups. This spot is super cozy and inviting- with a fireplace. It was a beautiful sunny December weekday when we dropped in. So we opted to enjoy the outdoor patio (with heating) and a view of the river and bridge. We got my daughter a hot chocolate (served at a cooler temp, thank you), I had a peppermint hot chocolate and my husband got an Irish cream latte. There were a few food options and baked goods. I've been on Yelp for a while now and have found that any coffee place with a consistent 4.5 star rating over a large number of reviews in a smaller market is something special. River Roasters is living proof. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel welcome. But it's more than the relaxed feel to the decor and the layout, it's a sense of being home that grabs you and makes you feel good. Let's start with the coffee drinks. My girlfriend, Anna, and I went with a large Americano and my go-to drink, a medium dirty chai with almond milk. I like this drink because it separates the coffee slingers from those who actually know what they're doing. If they don't know how to steam almond milk, or the proportions are wrong, or the espresso is bitter, it shows. Both drinks were excellent, perfectly made, and smooth. We rounded it our with a super fresh apple fritter about the size of my head...so big it wouldn't fit on the plate! It was a suggestion from Leslie, one of the BEST people we met in Florence, and she was spot on. Everything was so good that we were back the next morning and had the same high quality, consistent experience...and coincidentally saw Leslie on her day off! #winning You know it's worth visiting when team members come in on their days off. On every trip I seem to fall in love with one place and this was it for me in Florence. Everything I could ask for in a coffee shop. Locally owned and they roast their own beans. Location was perfect in Old Town Florence practically under the Florence Bridge. To enjoy the view, they have a covered back patio and a couple picnic benches on the side as well. There was an open field next door, so lots of folks were grabbing their coffee and taking their dogs down to the river. Inside is absolutely adorable. A wall of quilts for sale and other fun home and garden trinkets. There are leather coaches and comfy chairs by a fireplace. The coffee was very good, about what I expect to pay these days at a coffee house, and my service was always good. In addition to regular whipped cream, you can also request espresso whipped cream, which was excellent. For food, they have pie, biscotti and muffins. My visit to Florence was not all wine and roses, but Siuslaw was an unqualified hit. read more

This coffee shop is a gem. I'll be honest, didn't really expect a third wave coffee shop to be here in this small coastal town. Coffee was really good, even compared to the great coffee shops in larger cities. I'll attribute it to the beautiful tattooed barista, she's amazing. The kind of person I'd hire if I opened a coffee shop...I'm always impressed with quality work. Had Americanos. The roast was on the dark side, but that's how I like it. Decent assortment of baked good. Berry turnover was actually pretty good. Was a bit like the deep fried apple pies they used to serve at McDonalds (it's a compliment). Came here twice, sat for hours the second time. Loved the bustle of it on Sunday morning. I imagine half the guests were tourists, half locals. The view the the back patio was peaceful and beautiful. In Florence for the weekend and decided on a nice cup of coffee to start the day. There was a line out the door, which is usually a good sign that you hit a popular local spot. The staff worked fast to serve all the customers and were friendly under pressure. I enjoyed interacting with other guests here; it made me feel really welcome! The couches inside, heating lamps outside add elements to make this place even more inviting. There are some interesting specialty drinks on the menu. Such a sad experience today. This is literally my FAVORITE coffee shop in the world. I come into town about 4 times per year & I have at least 10 Nutella mochas from here each time. I came in today & ordered my Nutella mocha & they were super busy I waited for about 10 minutes for my drink no big deal because it was beautiful. I tasted it & the flavor was off like it was made with water. I asked them to remake no big deal & 20 minutes later still no drink. I asked the barista & they kept just saying That the premade mix looked right so it should have been fine. I just asked them to remake it & they were looking at the mix looking confused. I waited a few more minutes & realized that I had been there 45 minutes with no drink so I left empty handed because my family was waiting on me in the car the entire time. I wish that I would have revived better customer service because this place is the highlights of my trip up here! read more

I loved sitting outside and enjoying the view of the river from the tables on the patio. It can get pretty busy, so I would recommend going early. Wonderful location and the coffee is very good and hand roasted. There is a great area out back to enjoy your coffee with a beautiful view of the Siuslaw River Bridge.
