That frosting was "the one," that buttery rich taste but with a light yet self-supporting texture that held shapes remarkably well. I'm picky about the frosting and if you are too, I hope you enjoy this buttercream as much as we did. I later ordered a birthday cake quick and easy at the Allen Park location that when it got home met all my expectations and then some. It was gorgeous, tall, and nicely decorated. The gold sugar pearls are pretty, just be careful biting them since they are hard. The cake was moist and tasty confetti flavor (real sprinkles in there!) with the perfect buttercream. I asked for a white base with green design and the mint colored flowers and ombré stripes they did were beautiful. I couldn't have gotten a better cake.

This bakery has a wonderful variety of cupcakes and the cupcakes are always fresh and flavorful. The icing is to die for and I always feel like I am biting into a cloud when eating their cupcakes. More than not our hours have not aligned, or we have been just too busy with life. My fiancé used to take her kids there 15-20 years ago, but also got sidetracked by life's challenges. We drove by today taking our pup for a walk and noticed the front of the building was damaged, so with that, noticing the open sign was on and we had no plans, we made it a point to stop in and see what they had to offer. They have an amazing assortment of treats, bumpy cakes, strudel's, cookies, flavored pretzel sticks, eclairs with their famous custard filling, lattes and smoothies, and they also make custom cakes. We purchased some cookies, a lemon bar, bumpy came, orange creamsicle and the famous eclair! Everything looks phenomenal. We also found out that a car had slammed in to their building on Father's Day while they were inside filling custom cake orders. Thank goodness nobody was injured. This time I brought several out of town friends and we bought a variety of things. The pastries were definitely stale but worse than that the cakes were moldy, again! We took them back and exchanged them for cheesecake which also had hints of mild flavor. We ended up throwing it away vowing to not return. I am the type of person who doesn't mind paying a high price for something special but this is sad and terrible that anyone would run a business this poorly and get a way with it for so long. The founder is from Nablus, Palestine, where the original pastry shop opened in 1902. My dad knew the original owner. His son moved to Dearborn in the 80's and opened up Masri Sweets, bringing Nablus style Knafeh which is known the world over. It's my favorite thing to eat here. They still carry on in the Palestinian tradition. Samples are handed out generously. You want a piece of pastry which might be $2 or $3 somewhere else, no problem. Take 2. Palestinian culture has historically been very generous with food. Guests never leave without eating, and strangers are always welcomed. What cynical irony that food is currently being used as a weapon of war against these people. I sometimes wonder if their hospitality wasn't their Achilles heel.
