arrived on a Monday morning and the shelves were empty. when I asked the "very rude" employee what happened I was told all of the donuts and pastries were sold out. It's in a prime area of Trenton, but still stuck in the generational gap like the rest of the shops. I went in for donuts because I heard amazing things, but they tasted a day old. There were regulars at the counter talking to the employee, almost like a bar setting. So I stood waiting, for donuts. She seemed less than interested in my order and I could picture that 15 years ago, she'd have came to me with a cigarette between her lips asking me what I wanted. It outside is very unassuming. You would likely miss it if you were not looking for it. I tried several doughnuts. The Chocolate Long john, Cherry-chip, Nut encrusted, Oreo Long john. All were good and fresh. I like cherry chip doughnuts but theirs has the option of being topped with chocolate. The Oreo Long john was not only filled with Oreo cream, it also has real Oreo cookies crumbled on top along with Hershey's Oreo cookies & cream candy bar pieces. With all the Oreos abounding in and on top, the fillings was not overly sweet. Nut encrusted was also very good. I have heard they also make banana flip cakes & coconut flip cakes. If they would only have Mickey Flips. The flip cake with raspberry jelly on the top. I know why they have been here for over 80 years read more

Good local bakery. They offer a variety of different sweets such as cookies, donuts and muffins. The building is small, but they do have a few tables inside and parking right on the street. Went there and got a variety dozen. They were all very tasty. Make sure you get there early. As the day goes on the choices will become limited. read more

They have a friendly, caring staff & variety of old-fashioned donuts & fresh breads. I recommend giving the raisin bread a try! My family always stops here on the way to Elizabeth Park for black coffee with a donut & Cindy takes great care if them each time. I love the fruit filled donuts but I got a Napoleon today & a raspberry cookie. The Napoleon is flaky like a croissant, filled with custard, then topped with chocolate frosting. It's delicious! The worker didn't know anything about the baked goods and made it clear that she "just SELLS the donuts, I don't BAKE them!!!" And thank God for that. Elliott's used to be the most wonderful old time American bakery/doughnut/coffee shop. These family owned/operated bakeries were important gathering places across this country. Elliott's used to make the most delicious down to earth baked goods, and yummy old fashioned doughnuts. Their apple fritters were out of this world. There were always old timers there, sitting at the counter, or in a booth, socializing with friends, neighbors, fellow community members, or with the staff. It was a friendly little place. My husband and I were regulars since we discovered Elliott's back in 1997. We were always buying cookies, doughnuts, cakes, and other baked goods for friends, neighbors, family, church, etc. At Chtistmas we always ordered lots of holiday cookies,, and their special Santa Claus bread, a festive, great big Santa head, with a jolly face, rosy cheeks, and red cap, with the ball on the end made of fluffy, tasty bread that kids and adults loved. We always ordered several of them. The owners always thanked us for placing big Christmas orders, especially for always ordering do many Santa Claus breads. For St.. Patrick's Day we ordered Irish soda breads, and at Easter, we ordered several Easter Bunny breads, and boxes of Easter cookies. We love supporting local businesses, and our friends and loved ones loved the treats. Sadly, a few years back, Elliott's was sold. We met the new owners,, not friendly at all. The quality of the baked goods immediately went down hill. The owner's son was said to be the new baker. He was given the old recipes, but he can't bake. We kept going back to give them a chance to improve, and at one point it seemed like the quality improved. We went ahead with our annual Christmas order, bad idea. They had a display featuring Christmas cookies in boxes with ribbons, so we order several boxes of cookies. Plus 7 Santa Breads. My husband went to pick up the order l, and one of the owners was yrllung at an employee about our order. My husband approached the counter, greeted them, and asked for our order. The woman (owner) drove very nastiky to him, telling, "We don't sell boxes of cookies,we sell cookies!" He apologized, pointed out the display and the empty, boxes, asked if he could have the number of boxes we needed filled with the weight of cookies that would fill each box. She calmed down a bit, but was still not at all nice. The Santa breads were a disaster. They looked horrible, gone were the red cap and rosy cheeks. The balls fell off some of the caps, and they looked sloppily made. I asked my friend if it tasted the same, and she admitted that it did not taste good, and the texture wasn't very nice. They dropped the ball on cake for my sons anime themed big 8 and did not take ownership blamed the girl that took the order, heartless and didn't care at all the owner said I had two options either take it as is with flowers or refund on the day of his party I am so disappointed in this place I will never do business with them again ! read more

Stopped @ 230 on a Sat afternoon, dudnt expect anyone to be here & they werent. What I wasnt prepared for was how outdated the place is & how barren the shelves were. I ordered some cookies & honestly I could do better. Coffee was kinda strong like I got bottom of the pot or it had been sitting 4 a few hours. This place has been a staple of downtown Trenton since I was a kid. It isn't new or fancy or updated. It is everything it needs to be. Great donuts and baked goods. Good coffee. You don't need anything else. The lady who works the counter is awesome. The donuts with the chocolate filling and Reese's puffs on top are one of the best things I have ever eaten. Go here. I was not satisfied with how my custom cookie order turned out and Kris (The Owner) was not willing to do ANYTHING to remedy the situation. Save your time and money and find a bakery that cares about their customers. She expressed that she's more concerned about money than customer satisfaction. I read in other reviews that customers were hung up on and that's what happened to us as well. I should of read reviews before ordering to avoid the stress. Very upsetting experience. read more

This little gem is what a bakery should be. We went there yesterday and we were NOT disappointed. They have the BEST kolachi (we had poppy seed & almond). You have to try the raspberry coffee cake as well. I was quite happy with their reasonable prices. Take note that for some things you have to place your order the day before, but, they open at 6:00 AM, so, you stop in on your way to work. We were sooo happy we found this place (a friend recommend it). We will be back very soon! read more

This was our first time in Elliott's bakery. I've drove past this place a million times. I'm a fan of old school bakeries and wanted to indulge for the morning since it was a win/win for my 2 year sitting still during her hair appointment. When we walked in, I could sense right away the woman working behind the bakery was not very friendly. She took our order of two doughnuts and told us the price. 2 dollars...I realized I didn't have cash so handed her the debit card. She gave me a mean look and said in harsh tone, "We don't take credit cards!" My daughter starts to get impatient as she sighs and gave me another dirty look. I told her, "Guess we can't get a doughnut! We will get something else for you sweetie." (As I pick my crying child) Now you would think as my toddler starts to cry and look at me that you would just give us the doughnut and say, "Next one, just remember cash!" Instead, she walks away shaking her head. That is NOT customer service or small business. Seriously, messing with my young child over a freaking doughnut that cost how much to make. I went in here for the first time about 40 years ago. Not one thing has been changed in this place since then. Honest. The glass showcase, the tables, all the same. I think it might even be the same ladies working here. I have a feeling nothing has been changed since the 50s or further back. It is like going through a time warp and finding yourself in a small town somewhere in the past. I cannot pass this place without stopping in to buy a donut or two, because I like the fact that a little place like this is still here. The donuts and rolls are good and the coffee is not too bad. Nothing fancy, but you will know that walking in. You will probably see a few senior citizens sitting around drinking coffee and having a donut. That is another reason I stop by to buy something.
