My wife and eleven-month-old daughter went to this place for the first time for my brother-in-law's birthday dinner. We arrived right on time to find his wife had already been waiting for 45 minutes, pressed against a back wall for lack of anywhere else to wait. She came early to serve as a reminder to them for her 5PM reservation for our party of thirteen. After about 15 awkward minutes of trying to squeeze in a hallway outside the bathroom as more guests arrived, we were finally shown to our tables. They put together a small table next to a booth for a total seating of ten. For our group of thirteen. I wasn't impressed.
My daughter needed to be changed while everyone sorted out how to squeeze thirteen bodies into ten chairs, so I gladly escaped to the bathroom to deal with poop rather than that crap. The solution, it turned out, was to have two adults and a child sit at a high-top table nearby. The solution wasn't well thought out. In the bathroom, I noticed that there was no changing table, nor was there much room to even stand. It was challenging to change a diaper. I grumbled some more.
When I got out, I discovered that my wife had been nice enough to order me a Pepsi without ice in my absence, which I appreciated greatly. Sitting on the table was a glass of brown liquid that tasted nothing like Pepsi--I'm an expert--and no carbonation whatsoever. Though I sent it back immediately in exchange for water, it still showed up on the bill. The waitress noted that she hadn't been told, and seemed reluctant to adjust the bill but did so anyway.
When I ordered, I asked simply for a cheeseburger with a bun, meat and cheese, which was dutifully written down. When the food was brought out, my cheeseburger was given to someone else without thought, so when the last cheeseburger arrived, I noted for the waitstaff that they'd made a mistake. They simply removed the tomato, lettuce and pickles by hand and gave me the plate.
This place is fine. There is an extraordinary number of people on staff, but they don't seem to talk to each other. They certainly don't seem to problem solve or think ahead. If they weren't prepared to have a party of thirteen, they absolutely should have said so. They have no space, so my wife was constantly getting elbowed by staff as they walked by. If they're unable to reasonably seat a party of thirteen together, they should have said so. I think they're busy because Hanover is a small town and there is little else. This place is so packed with people without any thought, I'm 100% certain it violates the fire code. Waiting for a table is literally standing room only. Maybe this is a nice place if you're planning on just getting a table for two. I don't think I'd even try to get five people to squeeze in there again. read more
