In our social model settings, the emphasis on recovery is based on the relationship between the participant and his or her environment (including other participants and staff as a whole). River Community, their craziness, ball dropping and lack of follow through created even more anxiety for our 37 year old son- he could not take it and this place ultimately drove him to escape, relapse and sent him to a 51:50 status-l, and to the hospital at Aurora hospital We are currently looking for another program My concern and complaint are as follows Still processing all... The River Community website reads totally different on and about services stated vs what was actually offered. We all knew our son is an alcoholic with mental issues. - this is why we sought a duel treatment Social model program River Community is not a social Model program as indicated. This program has no full time therapist or professional Psychiatrist We did not receive what we signed up for. Or agreed to. We advocated for a professional duel treatment program that would professionally diagnose our son, then test and prescribe the proper prescription to help our son , stabilize him emotionally, mentally and prayerfully keep urie from self medicating We did not receive this as promised and agreed. Instead, our son received no proper therapy, an extremely bias and subjective psychiatrist, who rarely met with him, but triggered our son to further create anxiety, frustration, anxiety, anguish, pain, suffering , confusion, retaliation, emotional and mental abuse The lack of follow through and down time from administration was horrible unacceptable This lack of professionalism increased our sons condition and literally drove him away to the point he was committed to a 51/50 psych ward at Aurora, where this " Dr G" continued to emotionally and mentally abuse, frustrate, torment and me how our son This Dr G was the worst psychiatrist ever. And his license should be revoked This entire experience was a tragic nightmare and psychological l, mental and rehab racket. With even further delays, no clear answers to our many questions and concerns , River community gave no professional follow through, help to resolve this debacle or honey care. They took the medical insurance money and said, " good luck!" River community left our son and family totally uninformed and with no answers on how our son was treated, resulting in further mental and emotional deterioration, anxiety filled and distraught- the horrible communication and false promised only abound by the day For the record, River Committed also lost our sons cell phone and important legal and personal mail The lack of communication gaps, more empty promises and ball dropping only. Continued... The public media, courts, Medi cal, all insurances, and propert authorities needed to know and will know about this public danger and gross service to those in need. After two hours and providing two urine samples, I was then asked to provide a third sample to verify authenticity. I was told this was "protocol." Given that I was not court-ordered to attend, the repeated requests felt unnecessary and poorly communicated. Additionally, the staff interaction with Genesis came across as unprofessional. Overall, the experience was disappointing.

Every employee who taught a lesson was knowledgeable and incredibly authentic in their ability to communicate the language of recovery. The camaraderie amongst most of the clients was unlike any other treatment facility I've ever experienced. Once I learned who to speak to regarding a serious issue I was dealing with, Teresa was a Godsend. She listened and cared. She took the matter seriously and acted swiftly. And lastly, the food!! I gained 7 much-needed pounds in 6 days, eating every morsel of their delicious 3 meals a day. The cooks work so hard to nourish us all with such fabulous and tasty food. Thank you to almost everyone I encountered at The Lighthouse for helping me through a serious life crisis. I am grateful. I came back to edit because I almost forgot to give much-deserved kudos to Opie, the night-shift tech. I wish all of the techs would emulate this man. He has a lot of common sense (a trait I highly admire) and was absolutely pleasant in every encounter. He made my mornings start off on a good note.

They hunt you down the get your signature for classes/groups that never happened. 50 people sit around vaping, and chit chatting, witht a leader both giving not a crap, but ensuring we sign that we did a group called like " relapse prevention " when in reality we did absolutely nothing!. But the people staying don't care.... they get free housing for 90 days. so why even push for any recovery. Total, total. Scam. How this is legal is beyond me.

Zero stars But apparently I had to put 1…read more They say ppl in recovery don't shoot their wounded. Able to change must be the exception because they absolutely do. A new client was allowed to touch and throw my possessions out of my bathroom cabinet. Obviously the exchange got heated and the next day I was discharged. Able to change only heard one side. Hers. I had been making good progress as a client of 2+ months w a total of 4 months sobriety. They took the word of a woman who had just been discharged from a mental facility over me - again - a client in good standing. My spineless therapist gave me the news and informed me that the decision was made and that I was not allowed a word in edgewise. I was told at 1pm that I had to be out a 3pm. They provided no help w regards to housing or continued medication. If I had not had the financial and friendship support, I would have been out on the street w no continued medical care. This should be illegal and actually the tenant laws of California supersede any contract you sign w a sober living or disreputable company like Able to Change. In earnest I could have stayed until I had secured housing and they would be able to do nothing about it. I could have stayed for another 30 days. Now on to my therapist. He mentioned sex repeatedly in our group sessions - Ick! AND he also maintained a really inappropriate relationship w another young client. They often exchanged txt messages outside of business hours and therapy sessions. I felt slimy just watching it. The Power dynamic alone was ever in his favor - gross. This therapist was in his late 40s and the female client was 22. Additionally one of the house managers would often forget to put our medication in the safe overnight - both dangerous and unethical. Ariel now "Ariel Gatewood," a female house manager at Able to Change would often have her fiance on the property and in her room when she assumed no clients were around. Additionally she "borrowed over $170 dollars from myself and my roommate that she has yet, and probably never will pay back. Ariel Gatewood has no business working in treatment whatsoever. She is dishonorable and she abandoned her job, stealing kitchen utensils and tinfoil in the process. She should not be allowed to continue to prey on our vulnerable demographic. Bottom line Able to change is disreputable and harmful to people with mental health and substance use disorder. Bottom Line:They shoot their wounded.
