JR’S Handyman and Construction - Vanity install

JR’S Handyman and Construction

(50 reviews)

Joe and his team at JR's just completed a full tear-out and remodel of our kitchen, and the results…read morespeak for themselves. The scope of the project was extensive: all new semi custom cabinets, a new island, and new perimeter countertops, along with a complete replacement of our appliances some of which we wanted flush mounted (easier said than done). One of the trickier pieces was retrofitting a range hood, which added a fair amount of complexity to the install, but the team handled it without missing a beat. What really set this project apart was the level of coordination among everyone involved. Every craftsman on the job communicated clearly with one another, and just as importantly, Joe stayed in steady contact with my wife and me throughout the process. That kind of teamwork kept the project moving efficiently from start to finish, with minimal delays and no surprises. Even when we were out of town for part of the renovation, we never felt out of the loop as Joe sent regular updates with photos and progress notes, so we always knew exactly where things stood. The end result is a kitchen that's both beautifully finished and highly functional, and the process to get there was refreshingly smooth. If you're considering a kitchen remodel, don't hesitate to reach out to JR's, you'll be in good hands from demo day to final walkthrough.

Joe and his team listened and were open and receptive to any tweaks I made or requested. The pride they put into their work shows in every detail from the first step of the job to their immaculate clean up at completion. His communication was timely, job was completed in the time estimated. We will definitely be using him for future projects. Thank you Joe and crew!!

Next Level Custom Woodworking - Kitchen cabinets

Next Level Custom Woodworking

We hired Next Level to reface our kitchen cabinets (paint the cabinet boxes, make new doors and…read moredrawers, etc.). They did an absolutely phenomenal job. Each door is made by Next Level, not ordered from a catalog. They made a great suggestion to include a framed-out magnet board next to our fridge to act as "command central". They built up one of the cabinets to house our new range top. They also made 2 pull-out shelves for our pots. Brandon, Jesse and Ted are so personable and easy to work with, and they are true craftsmen. Exceptional attention to detail. We absolutely love our new kitchen. Highly recommended!

Following up on the superb kitchen cabinet remodel work that Next Level Custom Woodworking did for…read moreus a number of years ago, my wife and I recently commissioned them to reimagine our dated family room mantle and entertainment wall. The project scope included reengineering our old, stucco fireplace mantle and adding complementary wall paneling. The team also installed crown molding throughout our family room and kitchen spaces and new baseboard throughout our first floor. Using a single concept image that my wife and I had tucked away a while back, Brandon and his extremely talented carpentry specialist, Jesse, collaborated with us to adapt those design concepts to our family room and created a space with which we are extremely happy. We truly appreciated their frequent check-ins to align on design concept options for the finish work and their meticulous attention to detail throughout the project, which included the tireless efforts of painting specialist, Ted. We had long wanted this upgrade to our most frequently used space in our home and we are as happy with this project outcome as we were with the prior kitchen cabinet project. If you are looking for a creative and accomplished woodworking contractor to help bring your remodel visions to life, my wife and I strongly encourage you include Next Level Custom Woodworking in your bid list. We certainly will be using them again as we move to the next phase of our home remodel efforts in the coming months.

This was our second time with Barbour Painting. A few years back they did the inside of our house…read moreand we were pleased. This time it was the exterior. The team showed up on time, cleaned up each evening, was very polite and we are very happy with how everything turned out. They finished in a week as promised and their bid was fair. Overall, I like the paint job Barbour did of the interior of my home. The price was unbeatable and…read morethey were very accommodating of our schedule; we were home for one week of the job, and away for the second as the ceilings had to be scraped. The colors are fresh and I love how they patched cracks and caulked things in. I give them 3 stars for a few reasons. The first being the mess. Our house was EXTREMELY dusty with gypsum when we arrived home at the end of the project, even in the insides of closets that hadn't even been painted. It took us days to wash and wipe everything down, and we were sneezing and itching the whole time and had to wear masks. I was told that everything would be cleaned with Simple Green, so it was very disconcerting that it clearly wasn't. Even now, weeks later, you can bump a baseboard and white dust will fall off/out. We have green overspray on our light colored stamped concrete walkway and the exterior siding of the house around it, texture on the tops of ceiling fans and light switches, and paint drips on our interior wooden floors, which had been covered. It seems like while we were home they were very meticulous, but while we were gone they felt free to be sloppy and disregard our property and belongings. Second, they removed a ceiling fan at my request, which I appreciated, but we came home to it broken, with paint all over it, and found it sitting in the pouring rain on the porch. Needless to say, we had to purchase a new ceiling fan and are very bummed that the old one is no longer usable. Third, I was not pleased that my request for a change order was ignored. The estimator, Rodger, was great. Friendly, accommodating and promised me the world. Once I signed the contract, though, I never heard from him again. I had sent him a change order in writing two days after I signed and never heard back. I figured he maybe would tell the crew what I wanted. I felt like I had to hound the project manager about things that weren't done "correctly" because nobody ever acknowledged the change order. I even told him what I wanted more than once, and offered to pay extra to ensure they got done. But in the end I just gave up on getting everything I wanted.
