I requested a complimentary in-home consultation from Blue Moon Closet Systems. I unfortunately forgot the name of the person who did the consultation. But he came early, which was fine because I work within walking distance from my home. But I think he was focused on the parking meter because he seemed to rush the consultation. Luckily my walk-in closet isn't very large. We went over my needs and he took measurements. After it was over, I realized I didn't say I needed short hangs. So I went to their website and obtained an e-mail address. After working with attorneys for several years, I've come to prefer to have everything in writing. So I wrote that I needed short hangs, and to contact me if I needed anything. He said he'd provide the blueprints within a week. A week passed. Then another week. Then another. Then another. I never heard from him again. Not a call, not an e-mail. I ended up buying from another company. It seems like everyone else who reviewed got a call back except for me. Was my small walk-in not worth it the money they'd get from me? Perhaps. But it's still a sale.. I guess we'll never know. **UPDATE** They sent me a message stating they e-mailed me the quotes twice. If I could give Blue Moon 10+ stars, I would. I had a Murphy Bed and side cabinet made and installed for the second time (I now have two units in my condo) and I couldn't be happier. Besides a quality product that was built to order, the customer service was outstanding! Candy, the telephone customer service rep was cheerful and accommodating and the installers were very professional and quiet while doing the installation. They went out of their way to accommodate my requests to help move furniture before installation, switched the mattresses between the two murphy beds, and did some minor repair on my first unit. We had our master closet redone by Blue Moon Closets a few years ago and were very happy. We realized yesterday that a piece of clothing had gotten stuck in the drawer slide. I called the co. on a Sat (they are supposedly closed) hoping to leave a message for help. Someone picked up, gave the phone to Uke, the owner, who said he'd be over in 10 minutes to take a look (we live about a half mile from their offices). Uke arrived, worked on the drawer problem for about 30 minutes and was able to get it fixed. Wow...really surprised he would take the time, no charge, to help us out. Uke came to measure, and Anskar and team came to install a few items: Upstairs bedroom closet Entryway shoe closet Metal sheet (attach to wall) to place notes with magnets (my fridge is not magnetic). Coat hangers, Ikea shelves The metal sheet was very interesting. Blue Moon Closets doesn't do sheet metal (duh), but Uke says, "I know a guy..." And he made the sheet metal thing happen. Love that. The measurements and considerations were very thoughtful. There was a hole for the fire sprinklers, and cut outs for our outlets, etc. The upstairs closet was tricky. So apparently they had to cut away the moulding/trimming joining the wall and the floor to get things to fit. Problem was, no one never told me first, and after the initial work there were two long slits or openings where the flooring didn't meet the wall (I have floating floors) where the moulding used to be. I think because I wasn't expecting them to cut the moulding, I was initially very worried and freaked out a little bit. Fortunately Anskar kept the moulding, sanded them down a bit, and were able to cover the slits. And I'm really happy with the results. The quality of work is wonderful. And I'm very picky. I think something broke down in the communication, but fortunately due to Anskar's skills all is well at the end. Every time I look at my closets a feeling of content washes over me. I didn't know closets could make me that happy! THAT is why I rated them 5 stars. read more

I did not like that the closet designer didn't come personally to measure the space and talk to me, but I did like that he followed up with us after I told him I was going with someone else. He said he can match their price if that was an issue, but it wasn't for me. I compared designs from 4 companies and went with the most practical closet usage. Few months back Uke and Matt created and installed an amazing double armoire in our bedroom. It was a particularly hard job because the armoire had to match a pre-existing secular fireplace and make it look as it had always been there. Let me first start by saying that along with BlueMoon Closets I have contacted also a couple of competitors, more chain-like (California Closets, Valet and Closet Factory). The designers of these companies came by with fancy designer softwares, and they all agreed that the only way to keep it in our budget (which was not little, BTW) was to make it the wood WHITE, instead of matching the fireplace. Uke gave me a hand-drawn sketch of his vision and was the only one that loved the project per se, not for the potential income. He also totally advised against making the armoire white as it would have ruined the feeling of the house. He honestly had me at:"My guys will love this project" and even more when the quote came in within our budget. My new place doesn't have a under sink cabinet and closet organizer. The sales office of the condo referred the blue moon closet for those jobs. I talked to the owner on the phone few times. He sent his son to measure my unit and then e-mailed me the proposed design. It was a hand drawing but not computer graphed so I was a bit concerned if they were not professional. I was very happy with the work that Blue Moon did for me. Yollette F. came by my place to take measurements and present all of the different materials that could be used for shelving (from the minimalist but low-cost whiteboard up to the pricy but otherwise beautiful bamboo). She and Uke L followed up the next day and provided estimates for all three of our closets for each of the various shelving qualities, and followed up several times to see if I had any other questions. I got estimates from two other companies, and in the end decided to go with someone else. However, the primary reason I went with another company was because they happened to have a cancellation and were able to complete the project in much less time than it would normally take. Neither Yollette nor Uke made any mistakes along the way; in fact, they did great work, provided a competitive bid for what looked to be very nicely designed closets, and were reasonable (without being pushy) in trying to negotiate to get my business once I told them I was going to use someone else. I would have been perfectly happy to use Blue Moon, and it's quite likely I would have had the other company not had a cancellation that allowed them to do the work a little bit more quickly. Bottom line: overall experience was very positive.
