My only issue was we ordered the patatas bravas (or their version of it) and it didn't have any sauce or anything. GORGEOUS rooftop restaurant! Beautiful interior design with black walls, bamboo accents and lots of plants/greenery everywhere; gives you that boujee vacation vibe! Such a great spot! My boyfriend took me for my birthday dinner and this was the perfect place. We had reservations for 7:00pm but got there a little early and they were able to accommodate an early seating. Our server was able to help us pick foods that worked with some of his dietary restrictions and was overall AMAZING. She just had the best energy. The rooftop has a beautiful view over Calhoun St and Marion Square and gets the perfect breeze, it is the ideal date night spot. I imagine it gets loud when it gets later in the evening or on the weekends but there was no better spot for a weeknight dinner. read more

The Ritual is gorgeous--like, "am I in Charleston or did I just teleport to Tulum?" gorgeous. From the moment we stepped off the elevator, I felt like I needed a flowy white dress and a mocktail in a coconut. We originally sat out on the rooftop (because, of course, rooftop = cute pics), but then the wind decided to start auditioning for a hurricane. Thankfully, the staff was super sweet and moved us inside right away--warmth and kindness restored. Now, about the food... this is where things got complicated. We wanted to be obsessed. We tried to be obsessed. But alas, my taste buds were not sending love letters that night. We started with: Tulum Bravas - only one of us liked them (and spoiler: it wasn't me). Crispy Brussels - as a self-proclaimed Brussels girlie, this one hurt. All I could taste was lemon--like, a lot of lemon. Insert sad face. Chicken Tinga Empanadas - finally, some redemption! These were quite tasty and definitely the table's favorite. For mains: One twin had the Tulum Caesar Salad (was actually pretty tasty), the other had Mojo Chicken Tacos (were totally lacking), my oldest (aka best oldest daughter ever--she treated us for a four-birthday celebration because all our birthdays are weeks apart ) got The Ritual Burger came out pink and flavorless (she asked for well done ), and I ordered the Seared Tuna Sandwich... which sadly came with tuna that forgot to RSVP to the seasoning party. The presentation? Stunning. The flavors? Hit or miss. But even though the food didn't win us over, the vibes, decor, and service absolutely did. We laughed a ton, looked adorable doing it, and ended the night with the sweetest surprise--our waitress had told the kitchen we were celebrating, so they brought out a slice of chocolate peanut butter cake and four churros, with candles. We blew them out together, giggling and grateful. So, would we go back? Maybe--for the atmosphere, the cocktails, and that Tulum aesthetic. Ritual was the third stop of the night last weekend, when were in Charleston to celebrate a friend's birthday. The bar is upstairs and has some good views of the city, which we enjoyed from the patio/balcony area. But it might have been my least favorite stop of the night. Clubby inside, I stayed out on the patio area to take in the views and the quiet compared to inside. Bar offerings were pretty standard. If you're looking for a place to drink and dance, Ritual might be the right spot, but it wasn't for me. read more

We were really disappointed in our meal at Ritual. My three friends and I went on Sunday night. First of all, it was tough to get a reservation, so we assumed it would be a crowded and popular spot! However, it was pretty empty when we arrived. Odd. Our server was quite possibly one of the most miserable people I've ever encountered in my entire life. She seemed to be deeply bothered by our very existence. We are all professionals in our mid-30s so it's not like we were some rowdy group of unsupervised preteens, but even if we were, that wouldn't have been a reason to be rude. We asked for recommendations for appetizers and mains and she acted like we asked her to recite Moby Dick from memory. Also, my friend asked for some hot sauce for her taco, and the server never brought it. Even worse - she NEVER came back to ask how our food was! I can't recall the last time I've had such bad service. The food, overall, left quite a bit to be desired. The only delicious item we had was the chicken tinga empanadas, and that's honestly the only reason I didn't give this place a one star review. We also had the hangar steak, which was a measly portion, but tasted quite good. The albondigas were very good, and the fish tacos were alright. The Brussels sprouts were disgustingly burnt and very flavorless. The drinks were also gross. We ordered the espresso martini flight and honestly all of them were bad. My friend is a big espresso martini fan and said they were the worst she'd had. Yes, the place is very ~*aesthetic*~ (lol) and nicely decorated, but that absolutely cannot make up for truly terrible service and inconsistent food. She even brought our bride a lemon drop shot, which so happened to be a favorite of the bride. Live the aesthetic of the place. It gives off vacation on a resort vibe from the foliage, decor, fixtures, furniture etc... Getting dropped off by the uber in front of this place will leave you with low expectations. You'll have to enter into what seems like an abandoned lobby with no attendant and take the elevator to the second or third floor. After stepping off the elevator, you'll breathe a sigh of relief. A very welcoming sight awaits. I will say I wasn't too impressed with the food. The steak was very chewy and not cooked to my preferred temp and color, but we made it due. The less complaints the better for the bride. So we kept it light and to a minimum. The Brussels sprouts are phenomenal. Easy 10/5 lol. I could have been content with a bowl of Brussels by myself, but I prob would have paid for it later iykyk. The drinks were handcrafted to perfection with the perfect amount of sweetness and alcohol. We had dinner at Ritual with a group of six while entertaining friends from out of town, and unfortunately it was a pretty disappointing experience. We started with the fried shrimp, which was definitely the highlight of the meal. They were crispy, flavorful, and came with a delicious dipping sauce that everyone enjoyed. The guacamole was just okay. It had good flavor, but it was much runnier than I prefer. I like guacamole with more texture and chunky pieces of avocado. The entrées were where things really went downhill. I ordered the slow-braised dish expecting tender, fall-apart meat, but it was quite the opposite. It was tough, difficult to cut, and definitely not what I expected from something described as slow-braised. Two people in our group ordered tacos, and both commented that they were very dry and lacking in flavor. Another person ordered the Caesar salad with ahi tuna, and the tuna didn't look fresh, which was concerning. Overall, only one appetizer really stood out, while the rest of the meal was underwhelming. We had been looking forward to trying Ritual, but based on this experience, we left disappointed. read more

My daughter and I just happened to come across the restaurant as a sign suggest that we should come to the third floor rooftop to visit winter wonderland. The restaurant is Tapas so if you're looking to dive into a hardy meal not so much. However, very tasty. The food in my opinion was pricey but when in Charleston you're going to pay to dine. Now let's get into the nightlife of Ritual, with a Dj on deck and rooftop seating this is definitely a cool place to hang for dancing, drinks, and Tapas . Beautiful decor. Food is fun- not the best in Charleston but not horrible. I always get the hot honey donut sandwich for brunch. It's the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I will say everything is overpriced- most items are a la carte with no sides. The drinks are okay but nothing to rave about. The most off-putting experience I have had here was when I asked for a water at last call and the bartender denied me... Stopped here for a pre-dinner snack. Fun little rooftop. They have an indoor bar with a DJ and various seating options. They have two outdoor areas, one is semi covered by umbrellas with another bar. The other is open air, no coverage but great views. Another outdoor bar area with turf and couches for lounging and a DJ located on the other side of the host stand. I wish we would have seen the turfed area first as it was wide open with lots of seating. The view from the roof is awesome and I can see why it's a popular spot. All bar and turf areas are first come first serve. The tables on the patio and inside are all by reservation. We had mocktails and chips and guacamole. The chips were very oily but the guac was out of this world! Really fun place to check out. Do not sleep on the espresso martinis! My favorite is that they have an espresso martini flight where they offer espresso martinis made with vodka, bourbon, tequila, and a flavor of the month. I came here for brunch, and the food was amazing. I've also come for happy hour cocktails on the patio. If you're coming during the summertime, be prepared because there's not a ton of shade outside and it gets hot! It's upstairs on the third floor so you can either walk up or take the elevator. They have a decent happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM with Half priced appetizers and cocktails. The bartenders do tend to change since it is a college town and some aren't as friendly as others, but usually the inside bar have the happiest bartenders. read more

This place was close to our hotel and I was able to get a reservation easily, but to be honest it was a pretty average experience. The restaurant is cute, fun vibe, but service and food were meh. We started with drinks and decided to share the 'lean with it rock with it' and it was probably the best thing we ordered- delicious! The $48 cocktail was shared between 4 of us so it was a pretty good value. For apps we got the tulum bravas which were very good. We also got the burrata which was an embarrassment to all burrata aficionados like myself. They listed 'grilled bread' but it came with a pile of tomatoes and 3 small crostinis. Not good, definitely skip the burrata! I'm not sure what they were thinking with that. For entrees we got fish, shrimp, and steak tacos. They were just ok. I wouldn't come back for these. They must've gotten confused with another group. Our server was very flustered with our big group. Missing items left and right. Slow service and slow turnout of meals. Some girls were able to finish their meal before others were served. Food: Cold brew coffee- asked for a cold brew that never came. But the espresso martini was good. Salad- Crisp. It was a standard salad. Well dressed and the lardons were a good salty bite. Guacamole- mid. A good standard guac. Brussels sprouts- heavy. The sprouts were heavy and had the same flavor profile since they used the same lardons as the salad. Shrimp taco-pass. Overcooked and rubbery. I love the different juice options so you can switch it up. I also order the potato breakfast bowl. It was lots of food, however they forgot the bacon and it needed hot sauce. Our server was great and very attentive, however it seemed the kitchen was having several issues. Others in my party had things left off or forgotten and we were literally one of 3 tables in the whole place. The rooftop portion is really cute with a full bar and views of downtown.
