Mark the calendar first day in 2026 back at Chico Feo. This is monumental and emotional for me. Always great food, people, music, emotional support, and they have fish sauce on all tables. Yeah. They know. Today I spent the day outside and treated myself to a beer and tacos because sometimes that is the cure. One would say the cure for all ailments. I refuse to eat hotdogs or hamburgers and foods that have "approval of the masses" so the menu is perfect for a lil critter like myself. Okay. Secret time. I don't want to hype them up too much bc it's already a busy spot but this is my favorite bar in Charleston. The drinks are great, the atmosphere is great, and the food is some of the best around. I love this spot and try to go weekly in the summer. read more

Girlfriend and I went for dinner one evening when the weather was nice (important: because they only offer outdoor seating). We both got the pork belly fried rice. Absolutely delicious! The pork belly isn't flaccid at all. It's actually quite crispy, with the fat perfectly rendered. Came with a sunny side egg on top. Needless to say, we each ate every bite, walking away quite satiated. The bartenders are also very cool and attentive. Kind of an eclectic crowd. You're likely to see a dude at the bar that looks like Willie Nelson. You might also see young, hip folks with piercings and tattoos. Only downside was that some people smoke at the bar, so you might get an occasional whiff of acrid cigarette smoke while you're trying to enjoy your meal. A small price to pay, given the quality of the food. I've seen others get what looked like ramen bowls and have been told they're amazing too. I LOVED the ambience. It was fun, cool, hip. The weather was perfect and the vibes were vibing. I went on a Thursday evening and there was supposed to be live music but for some reason it wasn't happening and every time a bartender was asked they said they weren't sure if it was going to happen tonight. Which sucked, but it was still a nice evening. Food was a little bit pricey for a small bowl of soup. I forgot which one I had, but it was really good. It is only beer and wine but the beertenders were super nice and helpful in finding a beer I liked. read more

Got lunch here after the beach and it was perfect. We shared the birria tacos, chicken tacos, mayo tacos and cold sesame noodles. I would skip on the noodles but the tacos were perfect - fresh and flavorful! Service is friendly - you order at the bar and seat yourself (they will bring the food over). Great little beach spot to grab a drink and a snack pre-or post beach. They do not serve any hard alcohol so just beer and wine but the sake drink is delicious. It's a Mexican Asian mashup with Birria tacos and bao buns. They have a set menu but also a rotating menu seen behind the bar. I got the Bun Cha and it was a type of deconstructed lettuce wraps that were very messy to eat but very delicious. All orders are placed behind the bar and then you get a buzzer when the food is ready. No table service. There is a full bar top and patio table style seating. No indoor seating so make sure to dress for the occasion. They usually have live music at night. Parking is all street parking or parking lots that do cost a lot and parking will not be validated. read more

Chico Feo was a great beach-side bar. The vibe of the bar gives "my parents are out of town for the weekend so party at my place" and I loved it! I don't know if there was food on the menu since my brother did all the ordering. He got us a cucumber sake drink. The drink came quickly in spite of the crowds. The drink was absolutely awful tasting (I prefer sweeter drinks) and I don't remember much of the evening except for off-key belting "I'm drunk in the back of the car" to Taylor Swift while I was, in fact, drunk in the front of the car. (My brother soberly endured my singing while driving us home). I think I had a fun time at Chico Feo. My pictures seem to insinuate I did... the place is pet friendly. I visited today after a long day at the beach. If you've never been here before, be warned that it is always busy. That being said, it's quite easy to get a drink. Have your ID ready and be quick. As I said they're busy and they don't have time to wait on you him and haw over the menu. The food was great! Everything on the menu looked amazing but my friend and I settled on the Num Pang sandwich and roasted green bean special to split. It was perfect for two of us pair with a couple of beers. Their samurai sling is a local's go to as they were slinging them all day. I love the atmosphere. Chico Feo is on of those places that when you think of Folly it's going to be one of the top landmarks that come to mind for its inviting feel, chill but upbeat, and all around "beach vibe". 10/10 recommend. read more

Chico Feo: The Ugly Boy in Spanish. The word is out that this is where the locals hang. I joined James & Molly for lunch on Monday and we sat outside on the deck. We had the street tacos: Mahi Mahi, pork & chicken on small corn tortillas. They were small but tasty. We also had a Vietnamese dish called Bun Cha which was crispy pork belly. This was a fun and extremely funky little place we found in Folly Beach. It's a very old weathered shack tucked away in a grove of trees just a few steps from the beach . You go to the bar and order . They have mostly tacos and bowls etc . They list the specials behind the bar. I got CamBo that was a bowl with beef rice pickled carrots etc . Delicious! OMG what a wonderful find just steps from our rental cottage!! Several locals recommended this hidden gem. It has some kind of WWII history - used to be a radar station or comms station for subs out in the Atlantic, acc to local. Quirky, funky, fun outdoor-only bar with surprisingly good food, tho limited menu. It was too early in the season for their daily outdoor live music (bummer), but the beer selection was awesomely numerous and quite good, and the food was quirky and creative - Mexican and ramen (cold weather only), happily cavorting on the same slim menu. We had tacos one time -- the pork/carnitas better than the mahi. We went back a couple other times. This would totally be our local bar if we lived at Folly Beach. Adored this spot. read more

We came around 7 and it was pretty busy. It was our first time so we really didn't know where to go initially to order but soon realized it was all outdoor seating and you order at the bar. It's a fun outdoor vibe although you can definitely get eaten up by mosquitoes. They have mostly canned options when it came to cocktails which is alright but I would've preferred a freshly shaken margarita out by the beach. The bartender guy was very nice and helped us as the other girl looked past us several times and kept taking other people's orders. But it wasn't too long of a wait and they give you a buzzer when your food is ready. I enjoyed my trip tip quesadilla, I do think if they cut the meat down instead of leaving it in chunks it would've been easier to eat but the flavors were there. Hubby got a pork shoulder sandwich that was very tasty. The green beans were also good, simple and tasted even better with whatever sauce they had on the counter (fish sauce or some sort) It was overall a solid experience and we try some other things next time. Pretty cute Caribbean restaurant located at Folly beach. My friend and I decided to split the Num Pang and the Repochetta. The Repochetta was amazing. Usually it has chorizo but they were out so they made it with pork instead (the chorizo would have been 100 percent better). I really liked the amount of onions, jalapeños, and tomatoes that were put in the tortilla. The Num Pang was basically a hoagie with kimchi/smoked pork. It was very good as well.
