The Pharmacy service is horrible.Pharmacists (One tall guy and another Asian american Male) are extremely rude ,unfriendly, understaffed. Worse, the pharmacist then shouts out the name of my prescription loudly.I guess they haven't heard of HIPAA or CA state law. 16 CCR § 1764 "No pharmacist shall exhibit, discuss, or reveal the contents of any prescription, the therapeutic effect thereof, the nature, extent, or degree of illness suffered by any patient or any medical information furnished by the prescriber with any person other than the patient or his or her authorized representative, the prescriber or other licensed practitioner then caring for the patient, another licensed pharmacist serving the patient, or a person duly authorized by law to receive such information." I hate to downgrade, but I went in for my tdap and they had no idea how to process it through my insurance. I called my insurance right before I went in to verify that it was covered. Then after waiting 45 minutes the pharmacist told me to call my insurance again. At that point, I had to go back to work, so I called again when I returned and had no problem reaching my insurance company who again verified that Rite Aid would cover my tdap. Also, the pharmacist said that she didn't think she could give me the tdap because I'm pregnant. I think these past two experiences were enough to make me realize that they have some major training issues to address in their pharmacy. read more

The pharmacy "forgot" to call me about a prescription refill denial. This is for a medication that is taken daily and has severe withdrawal side effects. When I asked for a holdover, they just said no, and when the manager was asked, he didn't even look up, just shook his head no. They were "supposed to call me", but didn't. Nothing illegal about that, just laziness and no accountability. I'll also add, when you go to pick up your prescription here, they make you announce your birth date and first and last name to anyone standing around you. I frequently see women who clearly don't want everyone within earshot to know how old they are, yet are asked to do so. Worse, the pharmacist then shouts out the name of your prescription. I came here to get some school supplies that I forgot to get earlier from Target. Prices were good as many of the school supply items were on sale. I did noticed that the interior of the store seemed a bit dated and it could use some modernization. Some of the shelves were barren. They do still sell Thrifty ice cream at the front. I didn't have time to get any ice cream this time but when I come back next time I'll definitely get a cone of vanilla. read more

We took a few kids to get ice cream and my friend dropped the scoop outside. (sidebar: not a kid, but an adult. Ha!) When we went back in to buy another one, Ann was so kind to give us one for free. Oh, the local Rite Aid. Always a treat, right? You walk in to get one thing, you walk out with 10 other things you didn't need. It's like Target's ugly cousin where you can get you prescriptions refilled without having to deal with the nightmare of a pharmacy at Target. And speaking of, shout out to Danny in the pharmacy. He's great and very efficient whenever I come in. Normally, I have a decent experience at this Rite Aid...most likely because I usually am picking up a prescription so I have the luxury of just paying at the pharmacy. On my trip to get some standard toiletries Sunday afternoon, I noticed there were several candles on sale. Some for 75% off! There were at least 10 of the same kind of candle on the shelf marked 75% off, so I grabbed a couple. Fast forward to my trip to the register where I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Barbara. When I set the candle down to for payment, Barbara immediately pointed out that "while there are candles over there that say they are 75% off, they may not be." I looked over at the shelf which I could clearly see from the register and pointed out that the exact same candles were located on the shelf where from 15 feet away, anyone who isn't legally registered as blind could clearly read "75% OFF". I pointed this out to Barbara. She immediately responded with, "I just had this conversation with a customer last night, Miss. These candles aren't 75% off." I replied, "Well, then they should be on a shelf that indicates they are which I can see from here." To which Barbara replied, "Would you like me to walk you over there and show you the SKU on the candle and the SKU on the 75% off signs?" To which I replied, "No, I do not want you to walk me over and show me SKUS. I want you to organize your merchandise so that it accurately matches the pricing display that is being shown with the product." If you already know there is an issue with a display in a store, which you pointed out by reiterating that you had to "deal" with this issue with a customer the day before, perhaps you should take some initiative and notify someone who can properly organize items and price them correctly. I don't need you to hold my hand and show me numbers to prove your point as the cash register operator at my local Rite Aid. To speak to a customer in the fashion that Barbara did is not only incredibly condescending, but also blatantly ignorant because you knew something was wrong the day before and instead of taking initiative, you just decided to have the same argument with a guest the next day. False advertising laws exist in this state, Barbara. They go something like this: In the United States, there are state and federal false advertising laws that prohibit various types of deceptive advertising, misleading labeling, and related practices. False advertising laws provide important rights for consumers and competitors, arming them with the ability to seek redress when they've been victimized in the state of California. Don't put 15 labels that say 75% off on a shelf with a bunch of candles that all look the same, then leave it unorganized and act like I'm the bad guy when I go to purchase the product. I am a guest in this Rite Aid store. If you have an issue with a guest, you should get your manager because your ability to properly communicate issues or resolve problems is quite under par. If the managers at Rite Aid would like me to walk their cashiers through some training on customer service, by all means I'd be happy to do so. That is apparently your solution when a customer notes that you are displaying products on shelves that are not properly marked. read more

After going through a big inconvenience at an electronics store last weekend (in which they wrote up the order incorrectly and took about 45 minutes to fix), I was not happy to get to the cashier and find the price for the items didn't match what was displayed on the shelf at Rite Aid. Here I learned again that it isn't always how a business starts a transaction, but how it finishes one. The clerk who assisted me, Bonita, walked with me back to the shelf for a price check and found the product I had was in the wrong location. She found me the right product that matched the advertised price, but she also went beyond the store's obligations to make sure I was happy with my purchase. I wanted to take advantage of their "buy-one-get-50%-off-the-second-item" sale on shoe insoles, but there was only one pair left in my size. She could have explained that I had to buy two to get the sale price, offer me a raincheck, or offer to take 25% off the one remaining set. The latter would have been acceptable. Instead she got a manager's approval to take 50% off the single remaining pair of insoles. That was definitely going beyond the call of duty, and I surely appreciated it. There are lots of drug stores around, but I will be going back to this one because of the way they handled an error. read more

Young lady at the cash register did not get her name, she had a very bad bad attitude and very rude and just thru the change in my hand. Her skin had craters on her face. Unfortunately she was very rude to me and even over charged me , I actually saw what she did. And I received my money back. Be careful with her she will be real sneaky about it and double charge you and then try to keep the receipt. Be aware. And if your unhappy at your job or you don't like certain customers that come in there maybe you should find another profession. With the bad attitude you have. read more

Rafael *manager is a joke. He does not treat his employees nor his customers right. When I was visiting the store, I was looking for a water bottle and I asked him for help. All he did was pointing hist finger at an aisle and told me "it is there" he did not take me nor help me out to find it. I couldn't find the product myself so I went back to him and asked him if he can come with me rather than calling the aisle number. He called upon his new employee and asked him to help me out instead because he was busy. Then I needed to find over the counter astominophen for my 3 month old. I went to the pharmacy. It's a drug store, what can you say positive or negative about it? It's conveniently on my way home from work. I've never had to argue with the pharmacists (unlike the Target pharmacists - grrrrr) Employees wander around. I've never asked them for help because I can read the signs above the aisles to find what I need. I've never gotten ice cream at this location. Why? I don't know why my husband and I keep going to this pharmacy to pick up our prescriptions.. Every time it's a bad experience. Either the tall Asian male with glasses is rude and unfriendly, or the pharmacist herself along with the assistant are chatting it up while I stand at the front desk waiting for about 5 mins to pick up my sons meds. The pharmacist even walked right past me in view and didn't bother to mention to the assistant that I was standing there waiting. Such terrible service. I wonder how Rite Aid selects their employees, because their service is beyond the worst and is consistently terrible across all their locations. I only ever come in for their Thrifty ice cream stand inside. There's never anyone at the counter, so you have to wait 15 minutes for a damn ice cream cone because there's only two people working at any given time. And when you do get a chance to have an ice cream scooper present, they seem like the most grumpiest and unhappy people ever. I've gotten ice cream many times before at many different locations and this seems to be the typical experience. I've never seen a happy (or even neutral) employee. This kind of jackassery was tolerable when a cone was $0.90. But at $1.69 for a cone now, I might as well pay just a tad bit more for better service elsewhere. A typical Rite-Aid store. Get you medicine or vitamins from here. I don't usually buy snacks or groceries here... If you do that, then the selection is limited. There's always other local grocery stores to do that. Staffs are ok. Nothing special. Store is clean and organized. But the check-out line may be long due to limited staffing around. read more

Moved to Tustin and needed a new local pharmacy. Chose Rite Aid since it recently had it's grand re-opening. The main pharmacist (male) is great. Very friendly and good customer service. The woman pharmacist is horrid. Cuts me off when I'm speaking or asking questions, not friendly at all and almost acts like I'm a nuisance. After my last experience I was so angry that I was ready to transfer all my medications to another pharmacy. Probably Costco. But I decided that I wanted to give it one more chance. So I will update my review next month when I pick up my prescriptions again. Also had many issues with their new savings card. I've signed up for it 4 times now and it never saves my info in the system, so I just gave up on it. read more

There isn't much difference between pharmacies other than customer service. This Rite Aid sets itself apart with exceptionally horrific customer service. I've been using this Rite Aid for about 4 years now simply because it is the closest to where I live and It has gotten to a point where I simply don't want to put up with how rude the employees are here. This place is awesome. I've been coming here for years to get ice cream, snacks, and other things. (No prescriptions though, since my insurance likes CVS apparently.) While the inside looks a bit older than some other pharmacies I've been to, the fact that they have an ice cream counter and service clerks who are always cordial more than makes up for it. Recently, they've hired some really friendly people who are doing really great. (I don't remember their names unfortunately, but they were elderly ladies, who while not always smiling, at least were polite and diligent at their jobs.) They were not only polite to me, but to the others in line, and even though it was busy (there were about 5 or 6 people in each checkout at the time) I felt perfectly peachy waiting in a long line, as long as I had a tasty cone with strawberry and chocolate ice cream. Yum yum! ^_^ While they don't always carry my favorite flavors *they do have to rotate their stock, and that's okay. =)* I still show up and try their new stuff because the service here is great. read more

This establishment is located next to the Boston Market. There are a lot of items on sale here to the point that one might as well come here for anything that's on sale and not for anything else. Some of the more notable items on sale are the video games at 75% off list price. They have an ice cream parlor in the store. One can buy ice cream and shop at the same time. If there is no one at the ice cream parlor, an employee will eventually walk over there and ask if one needs help. There was no line and the staff was nice to us during our visits (plural due to the fact that other friends kept asking us to get more on-sale stuff). read more

I work next door to you guys. The elderly man who works the register most days has a horrible attitude. I asked for a return for an item I bought within 24 hours that was visible on my plenti card account. He did not give me the option to look up my payment with my plenti account because I tossed my receipt and this is the only other way to verify my payment. After having to go to the register two separate times (I had to research how to do my return on my phone at subway to make sure there was a valid way since he would not help me primarily) I was refunded half of what I paid because they go by the "most recently documented price" within the system which is not what the price says on the box in the store. I come here all of the time. This is absolutely ridiculous to do to customers who buy things at your store all of the time. Why not just give them the return at face value? I'm shocked at the negligence and lack of care. Nicole and D are both exceptional at their jobs. But this is ridiculous. read more

I don't understand why this store only have three stars. In my book, it's the best Rite Aid in all the surrounding areas in terms on customer service by the staff. The staff is wonderful (for example: Karen, Nikki, Dee) and the rest of the cashiers. They always provided exceptional customer service, helped me look for products. They are super quick at check out. I can always find what I need here. They value their customers. No need to go elsewhere. Avoid going to the Rite Aid on Newport and Bryan. It has been awhile since I have written a review and although some things have changed, some people have not. I previously had a problem with one of the employees so I stopped shopping there. I recently stopped in to check on a hard to find product and was helped by a sweet lady in pharmacy, Karen. She has been there for years, previously only on the floor, but obviously doing well in pharmacy now. I had to stop by for another item on Friday and she greeted me at the front door and showed me the item I was looking for...I have never heard of it until now. We talked for a few minutes and she asked about the family and then she rang me up at the front. What an all around great experience. I will bring all of my shopping back here with service like that! We went to Rite Aid last week late at night for some ice cream and Elsa was AMAZING!!! She knew all the flavors they were out of in the back and in the front without even looking first. She was so sweet, friendly, and talkative with us and really seemed like she cared. She was so helpful with all the ice creams. Best attitude and best experience we've ever had at a store. This is a two-part review, one for their traditional Thrifty's ice cream that they still serve by the scoop. And the second reviews for the pharmacy. Thrifty's Ice Cream: 5 starts! Pharmacy: 1 star :( Even though they're always out of cookies and cream flavored by-the-scoop ice cream, I still give them five stars because it just brings me back memories from my childhood where I used to get two scoops for $.50! The pharmacy however is quite a disappointment. I get prescribed pretty strong painkillers for my lower back and I've gone to this pharmacy four times now and had the same prescription filled by the same pharmacist. The first time I went there he looked at me like I was a crack addict and scrutinized my prescription saying that this is too strong, called my doctor to verify, I think he argued with them a little bit too, and eventually filled my prescription. The subsequence times I went there I get the stink eye from the same pharmacist, horrible customer service, no politeness at all, just judging me the whole time I'm there. The last time I went there I handed over my prescription, he took one look at it and THREW it back at me and said that he's out of stock. I walked away then a few seconds later I walked back and asked him to check other Rite-Aid pharmacies in the area to see if they have it in their stock. He took all but one seconds to look at the screen and looked up and said nope, they're all out. Very frustrated at this point, I went to CVS, the lady looked up my prescription and said that it is pretty rare, and that they don't have it in stock, but that they can order it for me and it would be there in a few days. Needless to say I called Rite-Aid's corporate office and filed a complaint. Only to get a callback from the actual pharmacist that provided such horrible customer service. I did not call him back after he left me a voicemail. Why would I want to talk to the same a-hole that treated me like crap? I don't! See? read more

This review is for the ice cream service only as I don't shop at this store due to much higher prices than nearby Target. As we walked in the door, a group of three customers had just finished up purchasing ice cream. I walked up with my two kids and the woman behind the counter didn't acknowledge us but I said hello anyway. She didn't say hi back but instead lamented the fact that she had to put on a new pair of gloves. I was reading off the flavors to my four year old (which she could clearly tell I was doing) and said gruffly, "Can I help you?" I politely said my daughter was still deciding on the flavor. She just stared at us like we were really inconveniencing her. What a joke of an employee. If you can't be cordial to customers, why are you working a customer service position? read more

The only reason I used this Rite Aid is because my other pharmacy was really bad. I thought this HAD to be better, right? WRONG!!! The pharmacy here is horrible. I was assured that they would have my prescriptions when promised. After the first re-fill, they screwed up. Neither of my prescriptions were there and I didn't even receive the courtesy of a telephone call telling me of the delay. I had already seen other customers complaining to the pharmacists about the rudeness of the people working behind the counter and their unpleasant demeanor. Now I know why. After seeing the customer complaints while waiting in line to drop off my first prescriptions, I should have trusted my instincts and stayed away. Walgreens, here I come. read more

In my three decades on this earth, I hadn't had Thrifty ice cream until recently. First, I haven't been in a Rite Aid in a while because CVS and Walgreens seem to dominate the drugstore/pharmacies around here. So, I had to seize the moment and get ice cream in the middle of winter. The shape of their ice cream scoop is kinda weird - square on top. My friend was telling me what two of her favorite flavors of ice cream are, and to our dismay, neither flavor (which I can't recall right now) were available. I ended up with Pistachio Nut. It was good. It wasn't fantastic. I dunno. I guess I was starting to crave the flavors my friend boasted about. So, I am only giving Rite Aid 3 stars due to not having the ice cream flavors available and for being Rite Aid. It still has the yucky Thrifty feeling. read more

My mom moved from Northern California to here. We switched the Pharmacy from there to here. We had no issue transferring the account, and also insurance was taking care of as well. Pharmacy does great job, we request refilling the prescription by phone and never delayed or missed. Some of you complained about the pharmacy or want to use CVS? Staff is unfriendly, understaffed, bathrooms are horrible. I needed to use the restroom, there was no TP, soap to wash your hands or towels for hand drying. When I asked for assistance the employee Told me it's because people steal their stuff. Never offered to help me, another employee stepped in and got me TP. Did I mention I was 8 months pregnant! I only go for the ice cream lol, but the refrigerator has been down for two weeks- no repairs still. Obviously a lack of management! read more

I'm not someone to complain but we come here to pick out a special toy car every week and as my son was looking, "Barbara" started loudly shouting at my son to put the cars down because they are not toys. She was very verbally abusive to him and when the supposed manager who wasn't labeled on her tag as one, chimed in, she took barbaras side. I am not the person to mess with. I went in to pick up some small items around 9pm and was helped by a gentleman who seemed bored and indifferent with my questions. Usually the staff at this store is absolutely wonderful and so personable. I asked the man behind the counter if he was not having a good day and he proceeded to share that he had worked 17 hours and was going to be working a lot of hours tomorrow. I told him I could tell he was over worked because he was not very kind or happy ringing me up...just a job to him. I think he may have been in a lead position. It is so sad that employees are so overworked that they don't even care how they are perceived by customers. Maybe if we all stop going to this location he won't have to worry about being so tired as the store will just close down due to offering terrible service to their loyal customers. I hope this poor guy gets some rest so maybe he can enjoy his job or at least pretend to. Rude employees represent a business very poorly, doesn't he realize this?
