I filled a prescription here for the first time, and the 2 stars are for that process. Transferring the prescription online, getting notified it was ready, and picking up the prescription was painless, and only one person was in line in front of me. The store in general honestly surprises me it's still open - I would say overall, 50% of the shelves were totally empty. If I was going for a retail item, I'd have no confidence it was even in the store at all. No wonder Rite Aid has been closed in so many states! I tried one of their self checkout stations to buy something else, and the station froze mid transaction. The employee said that happens all the time, but a minute later, the station had finished my transaction (without applying the $4 credit I had for opening a rewards account). The employee just said it would be there for later and made no offer to refund the accidental charge from their broken machine. Not impressed. read more

I'm a tough customer as a nurse of 30 years I trust them completely. When they fill your Rx you get a text it's ready. If I'm traveling and need it sooner I let them know. This location is closed. The pharmacy was great, such loss to our community. I'm sad that CVS is now a monopoly.

This is one of the best pharmacies that exists. Rarely a line at the pharmacy, you never have to wait long if at all. It's wonderful. The rest of it is suffering from the fate of Rite Aid corporate, which is currently reorganizing under Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Hence the empty shelves. Hopefully, this store will survive, whether under Rite Aid ownership or otherwise. I've used other pharmacies in the area that have constant hour-long waits for prescription pick up. Here, I've never waited more than 10 minutes. My family relies on it. Don't go away. read more

I'm not sure what happened to this store. It looks like a tornado swept through and took half the merchandise off the shelves. On my last visit, it had no bar soap. Beyond that, it's persistently understaffed. It's in a great location but I feel silly stopping by a store that doesn't have basic merchandise. This store has THEE best pharmacy on the peninsula!! Bar none!! They are extremely helpful with every prescription I have, they check for lowest price for me if my insurance looks too high, they are very fast in filling the prescription if I call them and ask if they could rush one for me , 10mins and they called it was ready!!!! Everyone is friendly and takes their time to listen to you. Can't express anymore but I'm transferring everything from CVS to this Rite Aide. I've been a customer at this location, often by foot, since it opened after a Hallmark store closed. Something is seriously wrong with this location or their "home office," regional office, or corporate office -- whatever they call it. Another possibility: atrocious management at the local level OR a combination of problems. I can only speculate. I've seen a steady decline in recent years. They can no longer blame the pandemic. I could write detailed paragraphs, but it's not worth my time. "Management" should walk around the store, take a look at the shelves, talk to customers, and listen. Please forget the stupid cards and asking customers for our phone numbers as we're trying to leave. There are basic, common products that should be available (at least some of the time) at this local "drug store," but are NEVER available any longer. Examples: hand sanitizer -- not little, bitty travel bottles, but 8 oz. bottles of products like Purell or even a generic brand. Why is this such a challenge for Rite Aid? There are also huge empty spaces in the toothpaste section. I even asked once if they're depleting stock, preparing for closure. Again, please don't blame the pandemic. Some of these products are ALWAYS available at Piazza's and other grocery stores and drug stores, but not this Rite Aid. I could give other examples, but what's the use? I've been asking about some products for MONTHS. I always hear the same old line about a forthcoming delivery. It's nonsense. What do I see instead? Products like probiotic bottled water in barrels near the registers. Trips to this Rite Aid are no longer worth my while, as I seldom leave with the items I need. I am truly sympathetic if employees are overworked and understaffed, but management: You will probably never retain customers and increase sales with such poor service and inventory. Wish I could put that line in bold. I remember friendly, caring, professional employees years ago, where shopping was easy and pleasant. Now these qualities are "hit and miss." Actually, there is one lovely male professional still left at this location, but I suspect he's part-time. When I finish this review, I'm going to finalize an Amazon order for products I USED TO BUY at this Rite Aid. Will also start planning an early morning trip to Target every few months. read more

I usually get my eye drops from Amazon, but ran out, and happened to be here, so ... though it looks a bit run down and sketch from the outside, it's actually surprisingly clean and well-laid out, organized inside. And true to brand, they have a pretty large and assorted selection of sundries and products here, everything from pharmaceuticals to candies to cosmetics and tools for hair etc. I couldn't help but notice they also had a huge selection of feminine products, as large as, if not more so than their competitor Walgreens. I found my /thera tears EXTRA, which is surprisingly hard to find in a lot of drugstores, and though I wasn't impressed with their pricing, I was stoked they had it in stock. It's located in a strip mall, so parking was not an issue, across the way they have a sushi place and a brunch cafe. The customer service was excellent in that they directed me to the correct aisle. Bottom line: it's convenient in terms of being able to grab stuff, parking is a breeze, and location wise in San Mateo, can't be beat. read more

Very bad experience with pharmacy, especially on Saturdays. The new Pharmacist and employees are very rude and have no respect for their customers. Always gives hard time when ordering meds, and picking up. I moved my prescription to different pharmacy who cares more more their patients. read more

I like this location because it's only a few minutes away from my house and right across the street from where I work so it's really convenient for me when I need to grab something. And now they have the Rite Aid card (like the Safeway card) which can save you a few bucks here and there, definitely a plus on my hair products =D Only down side this is the smallest Rite Aid around! read more

Yesterday I stopped to buy a card. The counterperson, male, Caucasian was at the cashier. I gave him my telephone #, then I said something like $8?, he got very agitated and said" can't you see the total on the thing, I didn't say that " I said " well I thought you did" He said almost shouting and leaning over the counter " no I did not say that" I said " it's was I heard" He said now having an angry face & shouting " I said I did not!!!" At that point I said " forget it I'll take my purchase at another place " He said " fine with me .. get out!" I was dumbfounded. I was having a day and admittedly did not bring my best energy to the pharmacy counter. Stephanie from the pharmacy was also having a day, with 5 hours of security alarm testing going on in the background, no backup, and a line of people. Yet Stephanie was patient and kind, and helped us out even in spite of the errors I made with our appointment booking. If you are a black female just be prepared to get watched in this store. It never fails for me to get followed in this store. Today I went inside and usually I leave my purse in the car, because I don't want any suspicion, I just want to shop in peace. An older white male at approx. 1515hrs walks past me and says really loud, "Oh she's just looking at candy." This is about 1 minute after I entered the store and I went straight to the candy aisle. I was the only female looking at candy. It makes me feel targeted each time but they always pretend like they are so welcoming. A few weeks ago I went inside and 5 seconds later a whole team of people came from the back room and walked straight to my direction I watched them as the walked past me and they pretend to work in the same aisle as me as I'm shopping. LOL! It's ridiculous. I worked for years in loss prevention, security and law. They racially profile like crazy over here without anything more than stereotypes. I know that because I am usually in work uniform or spandex with no purse or bag-what am I gonna steal? I understand the retail business and I don't know what their loss stats are for their merchandise, but it's a nice area, I do not see a need. If you want to racially profile be a bit more discreet. A staple in almost any strip mall. Fairly small but has everything you need barring something really esoteric like 16 gallons of KY jelly or something. In which case you'd probably head to Costco but I digress. Lets see, what was I reviewing? That's right...Rite Aid. I notice the most random things when I go out. In every crowd of high-school friends, there's That One Guy. He's nice, there's nothing wrong with him. Sure, some things are a little odd and awkward (hair out of place, mismatched socks) but he's not a creeper or anything. After you graduate, you run into him once in a while, and he's wearing the same polo shirt he's had since high school. Or at least it looks like the same one. Then you run into him at your high-school reunion and: What the heck happened? Nice haircut, standing up a little straighter, got a bit more confidence. A catch by any name. That's how I feel about this Rite Aid. I've been coming here for years, and it's been pretty much the same ever since it opened. I think it had a paint job and some changes in the signage back in the early 90's, but basically, it's been the same. It's been serviceable. Convenient enough. But one night I ran in for... oh, who knows what? A soda or something... and Woah! The store was in a shambles, because it was in the midst of a remodel. Even so... I could tell already that it was a MAJOR remodel. And now that it's done... it looks fantastic! Very appealing layout. Seems more open, and definitely more modern. And no joke, the place is approaching Pharmaca levels of brightness. They offer a nice selection of products. They even have some organic and gluten-free snacks. Plus, I love the nail-polish stand that's right near the entrance. And, I like the idea of the private consult room back by the pharmacy. Only downside is, it's a bit more expensive than other local drug stores. Still, if you shop on sale, or are only in for a soda or something, it's not that big of a deal. read more

They just remodelled this rite aids and now its absolutely gorgeous inside. Super clean and easy to find everything. It looks sort of like the inside of the hospital (in a good way not the scary doctor's appt w/ the smell way). I get my prescriptions from this rite aid and the pharmacists here know me and my mother quite well. They're really sweet people and I've never had a bad experience coming here. This is one of those hole-in-the-wall. I found a camping equipment here that they didn't sell anywhere. Most other stores just sell the Mylar version of the emergency blanket, they have the tarp style. And just the other day, I picked up a jasmine plant that other nurseries locally didn't have. The plant was on it's death bed from being under-watered, but still able to save the plant. read more

This Rite Aid is located in a tiny strip mall. Ibarely go to Rite Aid since there aren't any close by to where I live. But i'll drop by to this one once in a while to pick up something to drink. The Rite Aid is soo tiny compare to the one in downtown Market street in the city. All the merchadises are categorized and place at certain sections. I would say it is quite organized for a tiny Rite Aid like that. The reason why i like Rite Aid is that often their prices are better and cheaper than your other convenience stores like Walgreens and CVS. The only con is that the small tend to be small and crowded so you might bump into other people in the aisle. But I dont have much to complain. Usually you won't encounter in a line, but sometimes it can get quite busy since people of who to CSM might come down to pick up something to snack on during their breaks between classes. read more

The workers are friendly. There is nothing like starting an early morning with laughs and a good conversation with random people. This made my morning. Aside from the friendly worker, this store gets 3 stars due to being out of everything I wanted. I was out of cigarettes, and I was craving some kind of Arizona drink. They were out of my first two cigarettes choices, which are not uncommon brands (Newports and Marlboro Reds). They were also out of a lot of the Arizona. This is the Rite Aid I use to pick up my prescriptions. The pharmacy staff is great - they are very friendly and even recognize the regulars. I also appreciate the reminders I receive when my prescriptions are ready. As for the Rite Aid itself, it is very clean. They don't have too much in stock, but I only really speak for the beauty section (skincare/makeup/hair and body care, etc.). Most of the time they don't have the recent releases in stock. For example, I couldn't find an Essie nail polish collection that has been released for a few months now. Also, the prices are definitely on the expensive side. If you want to save money, I'd suggest buying off of Amazon or picking stuff up from Target (the one closer to Foster City is great). This is a pleasant place to go, however, if you need to pick up something quick. read more

I used to send money to my parents from this location true western union and I stopped because it was over limit I guess . Western union said I can't send anymore because I exceeded-the limit of sending . It was about $200 per month and how come it's too much . Run down Rite Aid. Really a dump. If you need something quick and know where it already is then OK this place will do. If you have to shop around skip this place. Really dirty and hazzardous to walk around. Bugs Rats, and other critters running around. Disgusting. Fixtures are leaning, Floor with holes etc etc. Injury waiting to happen here.
