I came by to pick up a prescription for a upcoming trip. Their hours as stated start at 8AM Friday. I get there promptly at 8AM. The pharmacist rolls in causally at 8:03AM and I'm thinking okay just a couple more minutes and someone will open the front gate. Well a few minutes more pass and the pharmacist calls someone probably the pharmacy technician overhead to come to the pharmacy. It wasn't until 8:08am that they opened the gate to help me. I ended up leaving at 8:12am. They ended up apologizing for the wait but at the same time, it's unfortunate that they were opened on time. Though they were late opening, it does beat the long waits in the afternoon I guess. I've called in before to pick up previous prescriptions/ clarifications when the app tells me I need to call the pharmacy. It's been hard to get ahold of people on the phone. I've had a time where I had to wait 40 minutes because I kept being placed on hold and then I would get the phone hung up on me. So it is probably best to just walk in to get assistance because waiting on the phone takes a lot longer anyways. read more

This is by far, the best-stocked Walgreens of the local Peninsula Walgreens that I have visited. The store is huge, well laid-out (easily shop-able), with wide aisles, easy to view shelving, and plenty of inventory. Every other Walgreens that I visit locally are often out of essential toiletries, health & beauty products, and household necessities such as cleaning products, toilet paper, and batteries, but this one has it all. It also has a lot of employees covering the floor, which is helpful to find products or retrieve the locked-up high-theft items such as toothpaste and hair care. They have a very active & centrally located photo counter, which doubles as a customer service counter right by the front entrance facing the El Camino Real. The employees that work at this particular store are plentiful, polite, professional, and helpful (when you ask for help). The store is clean, bright, spacious, and easy to navigate, every section is clearly marked, well-stocked, and organized like a pharmacy should be. Checking out is a different story. The only cashier's/cash register are at the rear of the store facing the parking lot. There is usually only one cashier, despite it getting pretty busy here. I'm not sure why they planned the store with only 1-2 registers that are away from all the action (main entrance, pharmacy, customer service/photo desk), but it's fairly awkward to have to walk all the way to the back of the store to pay, then walk back to the front of the store to exit, it's alot of walking around back & forth, lol. I guess that's one way to get your exercise in, as well as to tempt the customer to make impulse & spontaneous purchases, or so I think. Anyways, the checking out process is perhaps the worst part of this store & its layout. The cashier's never seem well-trained, motivated, or as helpful as the rest of the employees in this store. Maybe it's a hierarchy, seniority, experience thing? I think the overall shopping experience would be better improved with more trained, energetic, and knowledgeable cashiers, that is you last point of contact in this store and it leaves the final impression as you exit this store. The lines get long and sloooow! As to the pharmacy, the line moves along. It is well-staffed, and the support staff is friendly and professional. The lines tend to swell during peak hours (morning, lunchtime, after work) but it moves fairly quickly as there are alot of people working it to move the customers along. The pharmacists are approachable and open to offer help as well as information about your prescriptions. The pharmacy at this branch is very good and I don't mind coming here at all after stopping at the local hospitals & medical clinics found along El Camino Real and San Mateo Drive. Parking is easy in the back with a big, metered parking lot (but you have to pay and it's not cheap). Street parking at the front of the store is a bit more difficult and sparse. Overall, it's a good experience here, I just wish the cashier/checkout/exit line was a bit more efficient and expedient! read more

I came to this Walgreens needing a $100 bill split and there were two people behind the counter. An Asian lady and a white man. Being an African American, the lady met me with a cold attitude that rubbed me the wrong way immediately. Once I handed her the money, she asked how did someone "like me" get that sort of cash, I told her it was my birthday and over the next 7 minutes, she checked if the money was real 22 times in front of me. As I stand on line, there are 7 people waiting, with four Walgreens employees standing around behind the counter. Only one employee has their kiosk open and no one else seems to be doing anything. Chain drug stores are a convenience when you happen to be in the neighborhood and you're reminded that the floss or baby aspirin supply is a little low. Another advantage is that their "club card" does same you money, which I took advantage last Saturday when I stopped by this Walgreen's for their generic version of Zyrtek. Past that and whether it be Walgreen's, CVS, etc, these places are fairly interchangeable unless you're talking ice cream at Rite Aid. Okay, the problem here is that all the employees are special education. I would ask them for help or where something is and they would tell me I don't know and get angry with me when I would ask if they knew where someone was that would know. There is not one single employee here who is not special education, from multiple of my own experiences. Unprofessional pharmacy staff lazy and liar , called this location October 10 2022 at 10:23am , to verify my vaccine appointment , the lady pharmacist who answered the phone told me right away that the store doesnt have access with the customers schedule due to privacy issue and i have to check it online my self , when i told her that this is not the first time ive done this to verify schedule she immediately put me on hold , then after more than 5 mins a guy answered the phone and help me with my inquiries and told me that they just have a line thats why the asian lady said that they dont have access with the schedule !!!! If you have read any of my reviews, you know I am a creature of habit. Well, that being said, I need to stop going to all these different Walgreen's b/c they are not created equally. I get used to walking into my local store, I know exactly where I can find everything I need and I can make it in and out in like 12 minutes flat. Not today. I go on my lunch break to pick up a bunch of stuff and it was my first time at this new spiffy spot on B Game ave. Bad move. I walked around in circles looking for the men's shaving/grooming section and find it after a few laps around the store. I mean, it's not like I am visiting numerous Macy's stores, hoping that the one in Stonestown has better dress slack variety than Serramonte (they do) does. It's Walgreen's! I just needed money on my clipper card. I come into this location a lot. I always have to wait at least 15 min for someone to assist me. Today I went. I was waiting patiently like I always do. I had my clipper card out.. it was clearly visible. An employee brought another customer in front of me, didn't say anything. Not "I'll help you in a moment" or anything. I had to move so the customer could go in front of me and be wrung up even though I had been waiting for 15 minutes. Why didn't I grab someone for help you may ask? Because there is no one ever in the store to ask. So after waiting 20 min I get up to the counter, with my clipper card that I have been holding out in front of me the whole time, and the employee says "oh it's down". It is the most inefficient place I have ever been. The customer service is horrendous. I recommend not stopping here. read more

I'm not giving it one star because they did have one of the creams I was looking for, though not the other SPF stick. The employee was not only phoning it in, she was serving up some attitude while doing it. As I write this, I'm thinking if I didn't have such a serious soft spot for Walgreens in general, I'd likely give it a one star. The customer service here needs to level up and more than by one or two or more. The employees, when they're hired, need better training in courtesy, service ethos, manners ... whatever it is that they train people with these days. In fact, maybe take a bit of the Trader Joes vibe and apply it to training at Walgreens? Just a thought. The issue is: I wanted to read the ingredients on the back of one of their Neutrogena SPF sticks, but I couldn't access it because it's locked behind a cabinet, which means I have to ask an employee to come and get it out for me. Okay, I get it. I accept their corporate reasoning of there's too much theft of sunscreen? Okaaay. They'd know better than I. So I call the woman and ask her to unlock the display. She acts as if she's doing me such a huge favor by deigning to walk over, all the way over from where she was standing, doing nothing, I might add. And isn't this her job? So she comes over and unlocks the cabinet. It takes me a few minutes to read the bottle because I'm comparing ingredients to another brand of sunblock. This woman gets overtly impatient and though she says nothing, it's clear she's getting increasingly impatient. If she had said something, I would've had something to work with, but it was in her attitude her demeanor. It was patently clear she was not happy being there, working there, not sure what was going on. Truth is: I felt kinda bad for her. This is not he first time I've gotten these vibes basically from anyone who I've come into contact with at that store. It's too bad because like I said, I usually sing praises for any and all drugstores--but not this one. They need to improve customer service, and they'd be golden. read more
