This pharmacy is literally the WORST ever! We had brought a friend here last night to p/up his anti nausea meds and they were closing so they told us to come back after 9am today. I arrived at 9:05 and waited for 15 min in a line only to be told to go wait in another line to "confirm insurance." Waited there for another 5 min to be told they already had the insurance but hadn't started the on the RX. So then they told me it would be 15-30 minutes. I still needed get some other things for my friends BUT the shelves are literally bare. Each aisle is easily 85%+ empty. So I went next door to Albertsons to grab the things needed. I came back to the pharmacy now 1.5 hours after my initial arrival and they still hadn't even started the RX. They were extremely rude and weren't helpful whatsoever. I would recommend avoiding this pharmacy/store at ALL COSTS!! read more

Was able to grab some for our trip. Excellent customer service. Wish I got his name. Visit was on 10-10-22 around 5:30pm. I would have rated this store on the low side a year ago, but there have been many positive improvements in the last few months. A while back, I spoke with the assistant manager, and inquired why so many of the shelves were bare, and others in such disarray. The exterior and interior looked very rundown & uninviting. He explained the store was having trouble hiring qualified applicants due to various reasons. However, in recent months the interior has been extremely clean, bright and inviting. The shelves are well stocked with merchandise, with attractive end-cap displays to make the store more inviting. The exterior has been cleaned up. The checkout line, which is generally staffed with friendly associates, has been improved and is efficient. If the line is getting long, they call for an associate to open another register. This is especially nice as this store can be quite busy as it serves both local communities and many tourists. Rite Aid carries a wide range of products to aid their customers to be able to, stop and shop, in one location. In addition to a drugstore/pharmacy, they house a GNC "store within a store" with a large line of vitamins, mineral supplements, sports nutrition, and herbal products. Also offered are their own brand of vitamins & health aids, beauty products, seasonal items, souvenirs for visitors, as well as refrigerated & shelved groceries & snacks and a wide variety of products that are used around the home. They offer a large selection of adult libations including a good variety of craft beers from many breweries that can be hard to find elsewhere. They also have an attractively displayed selection of low to mid-priced local & foreign wines. Having not dealt with the pharmacy department nor their One-Hour photo lab, I can not comment to either being good, bad or indifferent. There is a self-service key duplication machine inside, as well as a Redbox movie rental kiosk next to this location. I'm so glad I decided to take my chances here regardless of the recent negative reviews. I am from out of state and had left home with only one week's worth of my medications so I came in to see what could be done. The person I talked to told me the quickest way to get refills authorized would be to go to the nearby Urgent Care. They interviewed me and luckily I had taken a photo of all of the pill bottles for a recent trip, so I had all of the info they needed. They called it over to the Rite Aid and I went there after a couple of hours and they very politely dispensed them to me. Made an appt a week ahead of time for PREVNAR 20 vaccine. Received numerous text messages and emails reminding me of my appointment. I show up 5 minutes early for appt and am told they don't have the vaccine and to come back later. Rite Aid HAS MY PHONE NUMBER and could have called or texted to let me know before I adjusted my schedule and made a trip down there for nothing. Because of the CONSTANT long lines, I decided to prepay for my script online as the service states "save your time". After prepaying I got a text saying to go straight to the counter and pick up my script. I go in and grab someone's attention in the pharmacy and was told to go wait in line! I told them I got a message saying just go to the counter. The pharmacist told me it's their policy, I must wait in line. So, what's the point???? Fifteen minutes later, I was able to get my prescription. Egregious! This, coupled with the fact that it takes on average 2 days for my prescription to be ready from the time I call in a refill, is the reason I'm DONE! Good riddance!!! read more

Our #1 reason for going to any Rite Aid location is to get some of their delicious Thrifty Ice Cream!! Recently, we found ourselves in Morro Bay with some good friends. We all craved ice cream on that breezy day. So we were all happy to see this Rite Aid as we were driving along. The inside of the store looks terrific. The store was spic and span tidy. All the shelves appeared well stocked too. The ice cream tubs were getting low as we could see through the display case. Sadly, they did not have anymore of my wife's favorite flavor which is Rocky Road. The lady who assisted us waited patiently as we each decided what we wanted. I chose one scoop of Strawberry Cheesecake and one scoop of Mocha Almond Fudge. The Strawberry Cheesecake at the bottom of my cup tasted yummy. The Mocha Almond Fudge that I had to get through before reaching the Strawberry Cheesecake was a bit of a letdown. The Mocha Almond Fudge seemed a bit melty which was strange because I ate it right away. Oh well, That won't stop me from getting that flavor again in the future. I've never had a problem with Mocha Almond Fudge from Rite Aid before. Overall, the visit to this Rite Aid was A-Ok!! read more

Their customer service is really awful. I was going to ask a cashier a question, and she put her hand up to my face to stop me from asking. I said, "You did not put your hand up to me." She made a lame excuse. There's more, but I called corporate to report this. About a week later, I got a call from a manager apologizing for this cashier. One last thing: Rite Aid has a price guarantee where if an item rings up higher than the posted price, you get that item free. It has to be on the same day. read more

I see a lot of bad reviews about the rite aid pharmacy in Morro Bay and yes I've had to wait a time or two in a long line but believe me there are way worst wait times at other pharmacies I've been too. To tell you the truth they are super fast on getting through the line are your going to always have those people that are going to be at the counter for 20 minutes asking a million questions on a new script but ypu have to understand it's the one and only pharmacy in Morro Bay and I've worked in fast paced jobs that are very demanding and I got to say they can't get any faster than what there having to deal with you got to be understanding and pull out your patience card because they have a huge demand on there shoulders taking care of the wholw town not to mention out of towners that are visiting the area that need a unexpected refill on one of there meds you'd be rude as well sometimes if you had grumpy people coming at you sure in our fast paced world we want everything fast. Just think if you drive an electric car and you have the patience and all that time to waste to recharge it then I would think waiting a little extra time wouldn't be a big deal to you. How about if they added a couple rows of seats and you pick a number lime in a busy deli or doughnut shop and you can a have a seat wile you wait would that make you happy just throwing that out there. So please cut them some slack they have a very stressful job as it is don't make ot any worse for them. I'm just thankful we have such a caring and speedy pharmacy trust me it could be way worse I've seen other pharmacies and there's is the best by far. The pharmacist George is TERRIBLE he told me to wait 15 minutes in the chairs provided, after waiting over an 1 hour and 30 minutes I go up and a see what's going on with my prescription. Mind you this is the first time I have used this pharmacy. He claims he didn't see me sitting there sitting there after we had made eye contact multiple times. I said you have been calling the names of the pickups but I didn't hear mine. George pops off with Mabee the girl calling the prescription has something against you. WAY OUT OF LINE to say. Instead of something like I'm so sorry we are busy. I told him I wasn't feeling good and I could have waited the hour half at my home, then he goes on to say YOU LOOK FINE TO ME, rude. I just got out of a three day hospital stay fighting for my life for some pill popping pharmacist to tell me that I'm fine. Definitely never coming back to this pharmacy again. I would rather drive 20 minutes to SLO to pick up anything because thy would have probably been more timely and less demeaning. You can see the years of drug abuse in these pharmacists it's really sad to see someone high on pills trying to work I bet the hour and a half only did feel like 15 minutes to someone on pills I already called cooperate and filled a report because of how terrible my experience was here read more

My experience at this rite aid pharmacy was very upsetting. I got a call a from them in the morning notifying me that it my prescription was ready for pickup. I went to the pharmacy a couple hours later and waited in line to get to the counter for about 25 minutes, which was no problem since I was expecting that. I got to the counter where they told me to go to the other counter to get some insurance paperwork filled out. I followed instruction and waited at the other counter where no one acknowledged me for quite some time, they were chatting about lunch. Someone finally came up and asked how they could help. I told her that I was referred from the other counter to fill out something with insurance. She asked for my insurance card and filled out my information. She told me to sit down and wait for 10 minutes because they hadn't finished filling my prescription (which is weird since they said it was ready hours ago??). After 10 minutes, I went up to the counter and asked if it was ready yet. She said no and told me to sit back down. I anxiously waited another 5 minutes and realized that I might be late to an appointment. I went up to the counter again. The lady that was helping me glanced at me and turned back to her coworkers and started chatting with them for a couple minutes and then said she was going on lunch, and left without saying a word to me. I stood there for a few minutes without being acknowledged. When I got someone's attention, I told her that I was notified that my prescription was ready hours ago. She told me to sit down and that they would call me up "right now." I sat back down a waited another 5 minutes. I felt tears starting to well up in my eyes as I was frustrated and late to my appointment, so I left. I want to make it clear that I was very polite and respectful the entire time and did not deserve to be treated like this. I work in the service industry so I also understand that if a customer doesn't allot enough time to get to get their service, it is their fault. However, I allotted an hour to picking up a prescription that I was told was ready hours prior, so I don't believe that this was my fault. read more

I live in Cambria and I'm lucky to have a drug store and pharmacy open late in my general area to shop and fill prescriptions. They are usually pretty busy, but do a good job keeping things running efficiently. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I had to go here recently for an unexpected tetanus shot when my dog got into a tizzy and bit me in the process of trying to rescue him from an accident. Anyhow I proceeded to the pharmacy counter where I assumed I would need to go to get said shot. I had called ahead to confirm they had them in stock and someone was there who could administer the shot. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was helpful and pleasant but did not think to mention to me that you don't actually need to stand in the very long 45 minute wait line for the pharmacy pick up when getting a tetanus shot just go to the consult window. Well long line lesson learned the hard way here! So I finally proceed to the proper line to get set up for my shot. And then fill out said forms. And give them my insurance card and payment info. They have trouble processing my insurance. Do they call the number on the insurance card for pharmacy staff to use for help? No! They just demand I pay cash price of $81.99 for the shot. So, I looked online and found a coupon from GoodRx that stated they should give me the shot for less ($50) but they refused to accept it. Stated its corporate policy they cannot accept any coupons for vaccines at their stores. I find that interesting since all the pharmacies I've used in the past have never had a problem using these coupons, including other Rite Aid locations! All in all, a terrible experience. And sadly not the first time I've tried getting something thru this same pharmacy location using my insurance which I assure you is perfectly good and able to be used without issue at every one of their local competitors without any problems or even so much as needing a phone call. So what their pharmacy techs are doing here is beyond me. I call it the bait and switch where they do their best to get you to pay out of pocket for stuff your insurance should be paying for. Because the cash pay pricing is way more than my insurance would pay for this item. I of course got my insurance to reimburse ME for the cost I had to pay, but it was a hassle and I should not have had to do so! As a Healthcare professional myself I do know how to do these things with ease but I'm sure most of my neighbors who live here in Morro Bay and use this place regularly do not. It's crappy of the staff here to be so lazy and take advantage of this thinking that people just don't know any better. They are lucky I'm giving the 3 stars I am and honestly that is for the kindness of the Nurse Practitioner who administered the injection and the gentlemen who answered the phone and was so polite and kind and helpful. Extremely RUDE and UNHELPFUL at the pharmacy. We were from out of town getting a simple medication because my husband got sick. I went in person to the counter after our doctor submitted the order. After an HOUR AND A HALF at the counter, multiple calls from my doctor to the pharmacy, verifying our insurance info several times, and other multiple bizarre "problems" they claimed to have, I finally cancelled the RX and went to another pharmacy in the next town. I have been waiting to write this review until after I had a chance to cool down. Dealing with this place was an absolute nightmare and the only low point of an otherwise lovely vacation. Our first night in the area, my husband realized he forgot his prescription at home. His doctor called it into this Rite Aid as it was the closest pharmacy. The prescription came in early in the morning. The pharmacist said it would be ready in a couple hours and that they would text us when it was ready. We had plans for the day, so, decided to return in the afternoon. Curiously, no text came, even as the afternoon turned into evening. We returned to Rite Aid at 4:00pm and found the prescription was not ready, but that they were working on it, it should be done in 20 minutes, and they would text us when it was done. No text message ever came. We waited until the next morning to come check again. There was a huge line of people - maybe 10 or 15 people in line and two frantic people at the check stand. We waited in the line and when we got to the counter, the woman told us the prescription wasn't ready and we would have to sit down, but that they would call us when it was ready. She immediately called "Next!" right over us while we were still standing there. When I asked my follow up questions, which was, "Do you have any idea how long the wait will be?" she completely ignored me. I refused to move in light of her incredibly rude response, so, she had no choice but to address me before she could help the next people in line. I asked her again how long she anticipated the wait and she just repeated: Sit down, we will call you. We left and came back several hours later and the prescription was finally ready - more than 24 hours after receiving the prescription from the doctor and 22 hours after saying it would be ready "in a couple hours." Adding insult to injury - we received a text message about thirty minutes after leaving with the prescription...that our prescription was ready. We don't live here, so, the chance of us coming back was very, very low to begin with. That being said, if we DID live here, there is absolutely no way I would do ANY business here. read more

I was in town for the weekend so when I felt ill I went to the local urgent care. They electronically sent over a prescription and I drove over to pick it up. Was told it would take two hours to refill so I came back in three hours. It was still not ready. When I asked the technician why there was a delay all I got back was attitude. I asked them to expedite the process and was told to wait. I waited for another 30 minutes and finally got the prescription. While I was waiting the technician said to another customer that they were behind because of vaccines. They didn't have his medication ready either. Overall a really unpleasant experience. read more

My doctor and I both just laughed it off and marvelled at what a self righteous weasel she must be.Then when I call rite aid to find out just what the hell is going on, she hangs up on me 3 x!!! She calls my doctor and accuses me of being a drug addict and can't understand why I would be so furious?!? Anyway, I've moved my business elsewhere, but I just wanted to warn you all!
