Low rating due to the lack of costumer service. The place just gets to busy and they never seem to have enough help.

Papa's Country Store - Stocked up on fishing gear

It doesn't change a whole lot & that's OK. It's more than a gas station - they usually carry at least one version of anything you'd have to have when you're in need and don't want to head off the mountain. It's not a full market with all your fav brands, but mostly anything you'd want from sweets & TV dinners to bread and milk can be found, along with some surprising things the owner, George, picks up to stock here and there (Mexican candy, various toys and gifts, etc.). It's mostly handy for those who want drinks (alcohol and soda/other), smokes, and snacks, but can be a life saver when you need even stuff like holiday ingredients (they always stock things like yams, gravy, etc. at the right times), desperate-for toiletries or a phone cord or some medicine fast. And if they don't have something that is asked after a couple of times, you're likely to see it pop up on a shelf soon enough. The people George hires are usually pretty good eggs or they don't last. It's nice to have friendly and familiar faces who are just genuinely nice salt-of-the-earth folks who, despite dealing with some locals at their best & worst, still have time to be sweet to kids coming in to buy candy with their egg money. Small-town "only one we got" places have their good and bad - the "mountain surcharge" can grow tiresome, but it's worth it to not have to drive into town when you run short on milk or want to grab a frozen pizza for a quick dinner. And it's certainly nice to have people you know in there who are willing to go the extra mile. We definitely recommend Papa's often and are in there at least 4 times a week, sometimes daily during certain times of year. We're glad it's still here and we SO missed it during the renovation, so we will always vote for them to keep on keeping on. SUPPORT LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES WHEN YOU CAN!

If you've ever driven up the 14 to Mojave I'm sure you've noticed that store on the corner with all of the sexy dresses on mannequins in front. Well this place is right across the street! Anyway I stopped here one time to grab a snack and wow, my mind was blown! You can't tell from the outside but the inside looks pretty new they must have done a full renovation recently. They have a krispy krunchy chicken kiosk right inside the store, and a full on seating area and restaurant that serves made to order pizzas. I've never gotten a pizza, but I've gotten the fried chicken many times and it is delicious! I can't speak for every day as I only come on Sunday evenings on my way back from Mammoth, but every time I've had the chicken it's always really fresh and crispy so they must be cooking it pretty regularly on Sundays. With that said, make sure you pick the pieces that look fresher, I've had hit or miss luck with the potato wedges and biscuits. Both are bomb when fresh, but I've had days where it's stale and tastes like it's been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile. If you're not trying to eat chicken though, the selection of snacks and drinks is HUGE. Much bigger than you would get at any normal gas station convenience store. Also, they have large clean bathrooms. These are not janky run down gas station bathrooms, these are super clean and well maintained with plenty of space and good lighting. The gas here is generally cheaper than everywhere else, so if anything this is a great place to fill up gas and use the restroom. There's also hand scooped ice cream, an automated milkshake machine, a a rad mural on the outside. If you're passing by the area I highly recommend a visit.

We have been going there for years, as the facility continually expanded and improved. They have friendly service, gas, every kind of food or supplies you could need, and very clean, nice restrooms. Right off the highway, you cannot miss this place - outside is a giant ice cream sundae structure that you can even see from afar. To take quick breaks, my husband and I stopped by here twice during our trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back. Not only were we able to easily charge our vehicle, but we also got to check out the massive store, which has cool retro vibes. Considering the amount of people coming in and out from this place, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the restroom was. The restrooms seemed decently sized as well, so there weren't any ridiculously long lines. In addition, many come here for food and entertainment. There are a bunch of candies, snacks, and souvenirs for sale, along with food vendors, a small entertainment area, and a dedicated homemade ice cream bar. There are plenty of things to keep both kids and adults busy.

When I went inside the store, I felt the warmth of the staff. They are all polite and friendly, that includes the shoppers as well. I bought some snacks for the family for our 2 nights stay in LV (for the Bruno Mars Concert) The healthy snacks I bought almost got finished and we aren't even in our hotel room yet. The snacks I bought were all delicious and fresh. Anyway, on our way back to SD we stopped over again. I bought big packs of Macadamia nuts, cashew nuts, dried Kiwi, dried pineapple. I got addicted eating the nuts and the dried fruits; as of today, 'think there is only one serving left. I tried to check their website to check if I can order online, but it seems I can't. I was joking to my son if he can drive me there to get my favorite snacks (he laughed.) How I wish they can offer an online service. For those who are heading to Vegas, stop by to this place. I am recommending this place, it's a place where you can relax, and feel amazingly comfortable.
