The Rite Aid pharmacy at 1900 NE 3rd Street, Bend, OR 97701 used to be a pleasant experience even if they never are able to answer the phone. They are busy. I get it. I know that the pandemic caused a lot of staff turnover and supply chain issues. The faces that used to be there aren't there anymore. I get that people get frustrated and have bad days. I've worked in customer service since I was a teen. I will dismiss behaviors as a one-off experience most of the time. However I have consistently had rude and confrontational interactions notably from one pharmacist in particular at this Rite Aid location in Bend. My most recent interaction was last week and I haven't been able to shake it a week later. He literally yelled at me while walking through the shelves of pills while filling someone else's Rx and told me that my insurance company was wrong, my understanding of my benefits were incorrect (even though I have had the same insurance used for a particular rx for over 1.5 years) and when I asked if he would re-run the Rx as the hold at the other pharmacy was cleared, he kept yelling at me and said he ran it earlier and it won't work. After more comments from him while I attempted to stay calm, he finally followed my instructions, and said oh, it worked this time. No apologies. No chuckles of "oops sorry I got a little heated." Nothing. I don't know if this is his behavior with all women or just me. But he consistently displays condescending and rude behavior every time I am forced to use this pharmacy location. It is demoralizing to arrive to get medications I need to manage my health, only to be disrespected because this pharmacist is evidently compensating for something. Is it a lack of stature? In my experience, he doesn't know how to peacefully interact with women (Is it because he might come from a culture that refuses to dignify women? I don't know. Does he have issues with his mother? I don't know the origin of his misdirected rage, but, come on, don't bring it to work.) As a result I hope to never be forced to return to this Rite Aid pharmacy location and will instead try to use a different pharmacy location for my local Rx fills. The conduct of this pharmacist is unacceptable. The Rite Aid Pharmacy overlords might want to suggest some discrimination/sensitivity training to this man. read more

The employees here do not print out faxed over prescriptions at all. They do not care how long you have to wait for your faxed prescriptions, they do not want to print it or fill them. They had the one I went to pick up, from YESTERDAY they had not even printed yet. When I was disappointed after 45 minutes of waiting for antibiotics for my elderly mother they pharmacist YELLED AT ME "BE POLITE". Excuse me? I'm disappointed my mother is severely sick and you haven't gotten off your ass to print a piece of paper and put some pills in a bottle. I will NEVER recommend this location. These employees are awful. Do not waste your time here. Go to Walmart pharmacy. read more

THE WORST PHARMACY. Trying to get a prescription at this pharmacy? Good luck! Many reviews here have touched on the incompetence of the pharmacy staff. It's an incredibly difficult process to try and get anything from this place. Tried to get a prescription transferred a month ago and showed up to pick it up a month later with no record of the transfer even though I stood face to face with a woman and gave her all the information. Tried to call the store after giving them the information a second time. Waited on hold for over an hour. OVER AN HOUR on hold and still no one answered. Called to speak with store staff they told me nothing they could do but transfer me back on hold. It's not like medication is an important service area so I understand why they treat their customers like a nuisance. read more

Use to be a great pharmacy kind of went downhill. Twice now I submitted a refill for important meds and days later nothing I go in to be told oh we haven't heard back from dr. Ummm there's refills still. Then I call dr and they have nothing from pharmacy so then I go back to say there's refills and all of a sudden they tell me oh the dr must have just called it in. I understand they are understaffed, but they need to do something different. Every time I've gone to the store to pick up a refill that was submitted via their automated phone system it has never been ready when promised. In fact, the refill request wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. The pharmacy staff says they don't pay any attention to and don't feel the need to meet the pickup times given by the automated refill process. I had to either come back yet again or wait over an hour while they filled it. This afternoon I tried to order an Rx refill by speaking directly to the staff. I was on hold for over an hour and 15 minutes before I finally gave up. I don't want to do the whole "let me talk to your manager" thing, but when I went into the store and did complain, someone got an Assistant Manager. She could not have cared less. The pharmacy is part of the healthcare system. They have to do better. read more

I stopped using this pharmacy a couple of months ago because every time I went to pick up a prescription, it took days to get them filled, if they had it, and when it was finally filled, the staff always complained how backed up they were and how understaffed. My Dr sent a new prescription to this Rite Aid instead of WalMart by mistake, and I went to pick it up 3 days later. I was told they are running 6 days to fill Prescriptions!!! When I questioned why so long, the pharmacist with an Australian accent said, "I'm not bulls#$!ting you, you can come look at my queue if you don't believe me!" !! The other pharmacist told the lady in front of me that the other pharmacist was doing her a huge favor by getting the prescription done quicker than 6 days! Completely unprofessional, discourteous, and condescending staff and horrible response times. Try Walmart. They're nicer, much faster and cheaper. read more

Made an appointment for my daughter and I to get a flu shot three weeks ago to occur this past Sunday. Received multiple appointment reminders via text and and e-mail. Showed up for our appointment to find the Pharmacy CLOSED!!! The cashier told us that the pharmacist had decided to take a day off, so therefore our appointment was cancelled. Plus, the cashier couldn't understand why so many people were so angry at her (really?). We were told that we could show up Monday and that the pharmacist might be able to squeeze us in. It took 45 minutes after my appointment to get a flu shot. Never again! The line for the pharmacy also is 20 people long and one cashier.

This morning my husband and I made our second scheduled (online) trip to the store to get a COVID Booster shots, after being told on 9/12 (by a human) to come back on 9/20 or later because we didn't qualify for the booster on that date. Again, we were told we didn't qualify. When asked why we were not notified by them or the organization that we couldn't receive the booster, the pharmacy staff said they "had no time" to text, call or email this information. However, the entire pharmacy staff at least 15 minutes to explain why they were helpless to intervene in any way. Never seen such complete incompetence, and I will NEVER shop at a Rite Aid again in my lifetime. read more

Usually because it's unclear how long (how many days) it will take to get something filled. The pharmacy is over burdened and understaffed and I feel for them. If they are out of something they don't notify you either. They have no respect for your time. This review is for the Wagner shopping center Rite Aid pharmacy in Bend Oregon. I put in a prescription refill request online and it was accepted. I was given a date and time when I was told it would be ready. So far so good. Then on the day the refill was supposed to be ready I tried to call the pharmacy many times to see if in fact it was ready. The problem is nobody answers the phone in that pharmacy. The following day I drove across town, waited in line in the pharmacy and was ultimately told they didn't have the prescription in stock and they would have to order it. What a waste of my time. This pharmacy has had this problem for over a year. They aren't even trying to fix it. They have finally convinced me I need to change pharmacies. read more

I usually go to Rite Aid in Canyon Crest/Riverside CA. The staff are excellent. But I was so disappointed yesterday. I have been a member of their rewards program for years and it is the best program of any store - or it WAS. Yesterday when I was there they gave me a 2% discount. Really? They said they are switching to a points program. Well I will be switching to CVS. For years I have driven just a bit further to shop at Riteaid but now it is now longer worth it. Don't come here. This is the worst pharmacy in all of Central Oregon. I have had it up to here with this pharmacy and the fact that they are not serving the needs of the patients of Central Oregon. I am a local physician in the area and I have heard countless horror stories about patients not getting their important medication's in a timely manner. Specifically, I had advised many patients to stop coming here because I know that their customer service is abysmal and their pharmacist don't care about the community. I had a simple issue that could've been resolved today on a Sunday, but the pharmacist did not want to take time away to help me with this issue. This is the third trip I've made to this Rite Aid for the same issue. As stated above, this is the worst Rite Aid in the country. I wish there was a way to give zero stars because specifically the pharmacist did not want to help me. I know that part of it is not the staffs fault but the same person who Has helped me in the past and the front is the rudest person and has the worst customer service attitude and all the central Oregon. She goes out of her way to Make the whole situation unbearable. I checked Rite Aid online for a 16 ounce bottle of mineral oil. It was listed on their website for $2.49. When I went into Rite Aid, the same bottle was $6.49. I thought there might be a mistake so I asked the cashier about the difference in price and showed her the website saying that the same thing was $2.49. She was obviously annoyed by my question and said, "that is the online price" and they don't match their own online prices. WTF? I went next-door to Albertson's and purchased a 16 ounce bottle for $3.99. I'm very disappointed with Rite Aid and won't be going back anytime soon. read more

I have shopped at Rite Aid on occasion due to the fact that there are some products there that I can't find anywhere else. However after today I am hesitant to shop there anymore. I purchased an item that was $8.49. They rounded my purchase up to $9, using the 51 cents as a donation to a charity. While I do not have an issue with donations to charities and the 51 cents means nothing to me, what I DO have an issue with is the fact that this was done without my consent. I asked the cashier about it and was meant with a blank stare and no reply. I did not press further as there were other people in line behind me so I just left the store. It's a shame when a store just takes it upon itself to take customers money for donations without their consent. Other stores ask you if you would like to donate. Rite Aid apparently thinks they don't have to. A VERY poor business practice. On a side note. We stopped going to the pharmacy there a long time ago due to poor customer service. If I could give them a zero review I would. The pharmacy really SUCKS!!! We go to the SE location here in Bend & when you try to call for refills NO ONE ANSWERS their phone!! You have to call over & over again to the point that I couldn't get critical medication because I ran out while trying to get someone ANYONE to answer!! It's a joke in a half!! We would leave & go to another pharmacy but with winter, snow, not having a vehicle & our bad health we have to stay with this location!! BUT....I MUST SAY THEY DO SUCK & THEN SOME!!! If you can avoid getting your prescriptions filled here, I would recommend doing so. This place had some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced, not to mention how disorganized and confused these people were... they're dealing with medications and I wouldn't trust them to sell me a pencil. Here is my experience: I had a doctors appointment at 9 am I left by 9:30 and this was the closest pharmacy to my house so I had them call my 3 prescriptions in to the Rite Aid Pharmacy. I called Rite aid at 11 am to see if everything was ready and they told me to come in in 30 minutes, fine no problem. I gave them an hour and showed up around noon. When I arrived they put 2 prescriptions on the counter and the woman helping me said I would have to go give someone my insurance card, so I waited in line again to talk with someone else, It was my first time there I understand that there us a procedure to follow still no problem, but this is where it gets fun. I have 2 insurance policies so I handed them both cards and they were unsure how to react... Okay... I was confused why they were so confused but they sorted things out and said I can go pick up my prescriptions on the other side. One more wait in line and I can leave, I was not upset at this point but I was in a slight hurry because I had only allowed myself an hour before I had to be in class. So I waited in line and the same lady I had spoke with 20 minutes ago asked how she could help me, since I was just there I was kind of confused she had no memory of me, but I work in customer service too I get that it can be easy to forget, so I told her my name and she walked away and came back and told me it would be 20 more minutes to get my last prescription together since only two had been filled..... So I agreed and went to browse around the store. I picked up some nail polish and came back to the pharmacy 20 minutes later, she had my prescriptions ready and after I reminded her of my name a 3rd time she set the prescriptions on the counter. I had needed a 3 month supply of one of the medications and she only had a one month supply ready, I told her what the prescription was for and she asked if I had told the man in the other window that, I told her that I had not but that it was written that way on the prescription. She said that I should have told him that and sighed clearly illustrating her frustration I smiled and asked her if she could check if she could switch it for me, her and the man started talking and she handed him the prescription, he said he would have to re run the whole thing and I said okay never mind I will just take the one month no worries, and the woman walked away and said now we have to reprocess it, it will be 15 more minutes before they are ready. At this point I was very annoyed and I was already late to class so I asked how late they were open she told me "Um I think 9 or 10" I immediately left my perscriptions (and my nail polish :( ) and had my doctor send my prescription to a different pharmacy, save yourself the stress and annoyance DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Our prescriptions came in fine. No complaints there. And maybe that's enough these days--but call me old school--could we have even a semblance of customer service? If Patti could simply acknowledge our presence, that would be a starter. we are standing here! We have said hello three times and happily! Yet she ignores us as if we do not exist. I finished grocery shopping at Albertson's next door and after putting my groceries in the car I realized I forgot batteries. So I decided to run into Rite Aid because I figured they would have batteries and I could get in and out quickly. I had cash in my pocket so left my purse in the car. I found the batteries, but since they were about 50% higher than what I paid at another store last time, so I didn't get them. This reminded me of why I rarely shop there. Before leaving, I happened to see that hard ginger ale was on sale, so I decided to pick up a six-pack and give that a try. When it was my turn at the checkout, I put the six-pack on the counter and said hello to the clerk. He didn't greet me, but said, "I need to see your ID". I chuckled as I thought he was trying to be funny-- I am in my 60's and have totally gray hair. There is no chance anyone would think I was under 21. I pulled out my cash and started to hand it to him. He said, "I can't sell it to you if you don't show me your ID." I explained that I really don't have it with me-- I just brought cash in, still thinking he is making a poor attempt to be funny. He said "then I can't sell it to you", and cancelled the sale. I was appalled and just left the store, somewhat embarrassed and wondering what the heck had just happened. I emailed Rite Aid and they replied that it is their policy to REQUIRE an ID from everyone who purchases alcohol or tobacco, in order to "ensure a 100% compliance with all state and federal laws". I do not know what laws they are worried about that would make them card an old lady. And be so rude about it. I have never heard of a store doing such a thing. To me, this was not only the worst customer service, it felt like "senior harassment", if that is such a thing. Over the years I have shopped there only once in a while. In general, the customer service is poor, prices are high, and I usually don't find what I am looking for. But this last experience takes the cake. I will never shop there again. read more

My husband went to Rite Aid north to fill a generic prescription. It was $225.49 for 30 pills. That works out to $7.52 for each pill. He refused the prescription and had it filled at Costco, $53.68 for 90 pills. That works out to $ .60 per pill. Again, $7.52 at Rite Aid per pill vs. $ .60 at Costco. read more

"We Do More Than Fill Prescriptions." "With us it's personal." OMFG. What a load of horse poo. First experience with this Pharmacy: Pharmacy is supposed to open at 9:00am on Saturdays. I was there at 9:00am on Saturday and the Pharmacy was not open. Not only was the Pharmacy not open but none of the Pharmacy employees were in the Pharmacy prepping it to be open. One employee was standing outside the Pharmacy area waiting to be let in. Pharmacist rolls in at almost 10 past and now before they can help any clients they've got to "open". When you are set to be open at 9:00am... you need to be there BEFORE 9:00am so that you can be ready to serve clients AT 9:00am. Second experience with this Pharmacy: This particular Rite Aid does the absolute minimum. Prescription needs a release from the insurance company? This Rite Aid ignores it. Doesn't contact the insurance company. A prescription is called in. I hear nothing. No call, no email telling me that my prescription is ready. I follow up & am told that the prescription needs a release. I ask Rite Aid: "So, did you call the Doctor or the Insurance Company?" Answer: "No" Me: "So how about you do that?" Rite Aid: "We'll fax something to the doctor" WHY don't you just call the insurance company??? I spoke with the insurance company and they said "All Rite Aid has to do is call us but some pharmacies just refuse to call insurance companies". NOT the Rite Aid in Portland. They made the call! Bend... too much effort apparently. Third experience with this Pharmacy: Prescription is called in on Thursday. It's a prescription that I have picked up many times at a different Rite Aid location using the same insurance company. I hear nothing from Rite Aid. I call. It needs a release and, OF COURSE, this Rite Aid won't just call the damn insurance company. They do nothing. I work it. I'm told the release will be in place on Friday. Rite Aid is told the release will be in place on Friday. Guess who never ordered the medication??? It's not in stock. It wasn't in stock on Thursday when they got the order yet they didn't order it! On Friday I have a conversation with the Pharmacy and explain that I don't have transportation and that I'm disabled and ill. I ask for delivery service. They have none. They know of none. Then, a few days later I get an email saying they've done a PARTIAL FILL!!!! OMFG! I TOLD YOU that transportation/prescription pick-up was a HUGE ISSUE and you do a partial fill?? SO now I have to struggle with the pick-up issue not once but twice. Thanks for that. "We do more than fill prescriptions" ... "With us it's personal" ... I am traveling in Bend, Oregon and recently visited Store# 05390. I am from Tempe, Arizona where there are no Rite-Aid stores in my local area. Today I went to Rite-Aid as it was the closest store according to Yelp that fit my needs. I saw the poor reviews on Yelp, but decided that the very few basic items I needed shouldn't require anything special out of a store. Next time I will listen to the Yelp reviews a little more thoroughly and heed their caution. The list of items that I needed at Rite-Aid were as follows: coloring pencils, manual pencil sharpener, eraser, pencil bag and 1 inch binders. When I arrived at Rite-Aid I found the items I needed fairly quickly. I was happy to see that many of the items I was shopping for were 1/2 off on sale. I gathered my items and proceeded to the checkout line. There were two registers open. One register had about 8 people in line, and the other had 1 person in line. I chose the shorter of the two lines. After a few minutes I heard the woman at the register tell the customer "You may as well go ahead and go swap those out. It is going to take me a while to ring this all up" The woman did have a about 15-20 items, but it did not seem like anything unmanageable that should take so long. I decided to switch lanes, which was the only thing that worked out well for me since I still got through faster than the lady ahead of me in my original lane. When it was my turn the lady scanned all my items. She asked me if I had a card so that I could earn points on my purchase. I assumed this was Rite-Aids version of a loyalty/reward program. I explained that I did not as I was from out of town and from an area where Rite-Aid stores were not available. She asked if I had any local telephone numbers I could try to see if they had an account. We have some family in town, so I scanned my contact list in my phone and plugged in those numbers. After three attempts, none of them worked. She said she was sorry and proceeded to ask if anyone in the lane waiting would be willing to share their card. No one spoke up. She said she was sorry and pushed enter to finish my transaction to charge my card. At the same time I said "Its not a big deal. I'm not sure what I would use the points for. Unless this means that I don't get the sale price as they were marked." She responded and said "Oh... I'm so sorry. You did not get those prices." At this point I was thoroughly upset and frustrated. I had waited in line for a very long time to purchase just a few items that ended up costing me $50.31. Never once did the customer service agent offer to give me paperwork to sign up for such a card, and never did she offer another option on how I might be able to get the listed sale prices. At that time someone from another lane said "You can use my card." To that the cashier let out a very loud sigh and said that she would need to void out the entire purchase and re-scan every item. You could tell that every person behind me was thoroughly annoyed as well as they started to grumble. I do not blame them, a simple line had already taken a very long time to get through. And now it was likely going to take even longer. And truthfully, I was very irritated at this point as well. I decided to just leave with my $50 purchase for some very basic supplies. I was astonished at how poor the customer service experience was. I cannot imagine not explaining to someone from out of town that the "card" needed would provide them the discount on any of their items, and not offering some way to sign up for the card. In addition, I would assume that the customer experience is the most important part of any business model. Especially first impressions. My first impression was this; Rite-Aid is a company that does not care about their customers and do not go out of their way to make a new customer experience a positive one. I can guarantee that if I am ever in a town where there is a Rite-Aid I will look for other options before shopping at this chain again. And I will most definitely listen more carefully to the recommendations of the Yelp reviews. read more

Just plane awful! I have tried three times and the pharmacist comes off unfriendly, arrogant, and could care less. All questions you have will be inconvenient for them. They won't make an effort to contact you if something goes wrong with your prescription, and they won't make an effort to communicate with another pharmacy to have your prescription transferred back. If you get a bad feeling from this place and from these people, TRUST your instinct! The people at Walgreens are smiling, friendly, efficient, and ready for your business!
