I have been working with Mt. Bachelor Memory Care as an outside provider with Heart 'n Home Hospice…read moreand Palliative Care for over 2 years. I am so impressed by this residence and the staff whom are not only knowledgeable, but put so much love into their care. Residents are treated as individuals and the focus is always on affirming life, which is also our motto. Thank you all for what you bring to this community!!

I know there is a stigma for people who place their loved ones in retirement homes. (I assure you…read moremy family and I make monthly visits to see her. We didn't just dump her in a home and leave like some families do). But some situations such as my grandma's advancing Alzheimer's made my family question whether or not hospice would be a good fit for her. I'm so glad we put her in Mt. Bachelor. They have done an excellent job taking care of her and making sure she gets all the medical treatment and assistance that she needs. This place works with you on payment plans and are very understanding about financial accommodations. My Grandma and my family love the med aides, guest speakers, and doctors that help make this place what it is. Understandably Alzheimer's is a frustrating and painful experience to live through and for your loved ones to watch, and yet the staff here is nothing but compassionate and understanding with her. These are difficult attributes to come by in retirement homes, but my family has the utmost faith and respect in the staff here at Mt. Bachelor and know our Grandma will spend her final days in the care of people who truly want to make a difference and help the elderly in any way they can. Not to mention what a beautiful place it is, not your typical run down retirement home, Mt. Bachelor is truly upscale and the women at the front desk are always so warm and inviting. My family and I are so happy we moved my Grandma out of the crappy hole in a wall CLAIRE BRIDGE and moved her into this classy beautiful facility instead.

We would frequently find his restroom and bedroom filthy with urine and dried fecal material. His clothes, bed linens, shoes and other items were frequently missing. When I tried to address some of these various problems with the executive director, she would make excuses like "I thought you were donating those" and she was not helpful in solving the other issues with the cleanliness and the staff. She ultimately retaliated by redoing my father's care plan and increasing his monthly rate. At this point I felt we could no longer address our father's care without retaliation from the executive director by increasing his charges. I was left with no other choice than to move my father to another care facility. It is obvious to me that this organization is just out for profit and not for the well-being of their patients. I found a good resource in the Oregon State Ombudsman however you must keep good records and involve them early on as they will not go back and help with previous billing issues. They are a good resource and will advocate for patients and families that are in long term care.

We placed my Grandma here and we were very unhappy with the way she was treated. We ended up moving her. (The med aides were nice girls) But as for the rest of the staff... I do not live close by, so I am completely reliant on the staff to move all of his belongings, get his television hooked up and a ton of other things. It's so…read moreunfortunate because many many years ago (before they hired thieves) my nana was placed here and the ladies were so amazing to her. Now we are on the search for a place for my other nana and we absolutely know (where to avoid). We are local business owners who have been serving Central Oregon for over 30 years (over 60 years with all of the family businesses in Bend) and just dumbfounded at how they handled a thief that works for them! For starters you're working around elderly and a lot of "vulnerable" elderly who rely solely on those individuals that work there, to take care of them. It really is heartbreaking that they're so short staffed and "irritated" being short staffed and "over worked" that they could care less who their employees are, where the employees come from, or the actions of their employees. Sure, they have certain testing to get hired (I have an inside source) but after that, good riddance on keeping tabs or following up on reports that needed follow ups. After we had money stolen from an employee named "Bethany Teitsworth" we will make sure to let everyone in our beautiful, decently small town, aware of how Aspen Ridge runs and manages their staff, but most importantly their "patients" who are around them 24/7. I cannot even imagine what kind of money she has or would steal from innocent elderly and they would have NO idea!! What kind of treatment is happening here. We will not remain quiet over being stolen from and I will make sure I follow up on the report that is filed through the state to have Aspen Ridge checked out internally. Find another place for your loved ones.
