Scheduled a Shingrix vaccine a couple of months ago to get caught up with new recommendations based on my age (thanks being over 50 now!) My physician recommended the Safeway pharmacy as her office did not stock the vaccine regularly. It was easy to schedule online and the pharmacist who gave me the vaccine was very professional and accomplished and used standard technique. I was impressed with how easy and streamlined the process was. I'll be getting the second in my series in a few months and was already able to schedule the appointment. read more

So disappointed with this pharmacy. Used to really love their customer service. However, with the COVID issues, they really fell short. They must see many at risk customers yet they take little care for the precautions necessary or expected of a health care customer service group. Imagine the number of items they touch and cannot even take the least level of precautions to include social distancing, their own masking requirements and casual attitude about public health. Constantly touching and adjusting masks without sanitizing in between. CDC guidelines are very specific for this type of service. read more

I always fill my scripts 3-4 days in advance and just about every single time they never have mine ready. Currently, I have been waiting an hour for my prescription that I had filled 3 days ago. Without my meds I will go into severe withdrawals and same with my youngest daughter. It's very frustrating. So I have absolutely no choice but to sit and wait. Time to find another pharmacy. This is an edited review. I waited over an hour for my medications only to have the RUDE lady at cashier tell me they were out!!! Are you kidding!! The staff is usually friendly but I always have issues getting one of my prescriptions refilled. I always get different answers on what I'm supposed to do. They should just throw their phone away because I'm lucky to get an answer literally 1 out of 50 calls. They have an answering machine but I have never once gotten a call back or had my prescription refilled in regards to it. They're always short staffed but to me that should be a wake up call to Safeway to be paying their employees more if they haven't been able to fill any positions in a year. Always a ridiculous line. Only one pharmacist and usually only one tech cashing people out. They close for lunch from 1:30-2:00 everyday and I jumped in line at 1:25 to get my wife's prescription after she had a disc replacement surgery and at 1:25 with no one else in front of me they kicked me out and told me to come back after 2 when they re-opened. Don't go here!!! Walmart has twice the line but you get in and out in a quarter of the time!!! Total BS!!! read more

Holy cow! This pharmacy couldn't get it right in a timely fashion if it paid another company to do the work. This pharmacy is a joke. I tried on three separate occasions to have my prescription filled. All three times, it was well over a two-hour wait, AFTER THEY SAID MY PRESCRIPTION WAS READY! One time they told me my prescription was ready and I get there and they lost it. They never did fill it because they lost it. I do find some humor in this. The girls who work the counter are rude. I called one girl out on her attitude and told her that I'm sure everyone else in line felt the same way, they just wouldn't say it out loud and to her face. I had four people walk by me and whisper that I was right. This was after an hour and forty minute wait in line. She got awfully humble after that and told me that they were so understaffed and that John, the manager, wouldn't do anything about it. Oh, I had my peace with him too. I'll refrain from writing anything about him because my mother always taught me that if I can't say anything nice, don't say it at all. Enough said. I'd fight Costco on an "everything in the store is free" day before I'd ever use the Safeway pharmacy again. I think Safeway should change its name to Badway. The WORST pharmacy I have ever been to. I have gone every month for years and yet I have never once left with all my prescriptions on time. Even when I receive calls they are ready or call in and talk to an actual person. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I understand it's a busy pharmacy, but if you can't do your job well, let people know so they aren't stranded without medication they actually need. read more

I thought the last 3 experiences there that they were having a bad day - seems a bad day is normal for this place - Inefficient, rude and considering the customer (me) is paying their salary, I really don't understand how they have jobs. This is the worst pharmacy experience I've ever had in my life. Went in a few hours after going to Urgent Care on a Thursday to pick up three prescriptions. (Because I know from experience coming here that it's not even worth it to try coming to pick something up right after the doctor.) Got told it would be thirty minutes. Went out to my car and waited, came back in and they hadn't started on them. Got told it would be just couple minutes. I got called back up to the counter 40 minutes later and received two of my prescriptions. The third and most important I was told is 'out of stock' and to come back Friday. Came back in the next day and got told it should be back in stock in two more days (Monday). Meanwhile, I'm getting more sick because I don't have the necessary prescription. Came back in today and they didn't have it and didn't know when it would be in stock. Wish I had known sooner that I could have had it transferred to another pharmacy, because I would have done that in a heartbeat. Got the prescription transferred to Fred Meyers Pharmacy and they had it filled within minutes (after the five hours it took Safeway to simply fax it to them after multiple calls and faxes from myself and Fred Meyer). I have been dealing with the Safeway pharmacy for 8+ years, and after this, I will never have another prescription sent to them ever again. Thank you Fred Meyer, I didn't know how simple getting a prescription could be until I went there instead. Bye Safeway read more

Boy. These people couldn't understand good service if it was stuck up their...let's just say that I've been in there six times and five of those times they were clueless. When I get a text saying my prescription is ready and it never is then something needs to change. I made the change back to Walgreens. First experience at this pharmacy. While most of the employees were nice it took more than two and a half hours to get our prescriptions. At first I was told an hour so I sat in my car (coughing my brains out) and then went back in. They had not even started. They said come back in 45 minutes. Went back out to my car. I came back in 50 minutes and mine were ready but not my husband's. And his were called in two hours before mine! They apologized and said his would be next up. I waited another 25 minutes only to be called up and told they couldn't fill my husband's because it was too soon. I told them that, yes, we knew it was too soon but we are on vacation and he left it at home and that was communicated to them over two hours ago! (It's his heart medication so kinda important.) I was told to take a seat (again) and I waited another 10 minutes to get his medication. It was then they told me they didn't have one of mine but it would PROBABLY be here tomorrow. And the person checking me out said TWICE that she was fed up working there. Doesn't instill a lot of confidence. I asked if I could call the next day to see if it's ready as we live a half hour away. She said not to bother as they rarely answer the phone because they are too busy. Not impressed. read more

This pharmacy is always super busy...it's like they don't have enough workers-but I don't think they could fit anymore people back in that space. Maybe the staff is all just a bit retarded? I know Safeway hires people from all walks of life but the pharmacy should have standards... Anyway, it's usually a good hour in line, prescriptions that've been filled numerous times still need "council" so there's another 15 minutes wait on the pharmacist. My advice, if you have any life that can't be put on pause for an hour or two...don't go to this particular Safeway. North 3rd st. Safeway Pharmacy is a lot more competent and capable. read more

The pharmacist at Safeway is amazing. He carefully listens and provides careful and wise answers. He made sure the meds our son had to take would not interact with one another and we felt well informed on how to administer the meds and what to watch for. It doesn't matter what time of day you go into this store there are always lines. Never enough cashiers.

Today was the last day I will ever shop at Safeway. They are redesigning the store, again! And at the height of the holiday season. Half the shelves have had the merchandise removed and placed in crates or temporary shelving which are scattered around the store. There are shopping carts or boxes in shopping carts in the aisles and you have to ask where to find items. I can see these items are only temporarily relocated and who knows where they will be next week. Not only that, but there are people working on this project while customers are trying to shop. Have they not heard of working at night when business is light? In the future I will make the effort to shop at Trader Joe's routinely and at Whole Foods which is just across the parking lot from this Safeway. read more
