It's absolutely awful!! I was in there yesterday looking for a bottle of Red nail polish and a birthday card for a friend whose bday is on V day. Well, it's a ghost town with cardboard signs covering large areas of shelving where there is no merchandise. I finally found one red polish of the literal 20 bottles that they had all mixed together by the door. The card was a wash!! Not only no appropriate V, Day but almost nothing in the way of any birthday or any occasion for any sex. It's too bad because this store is close to my home but I don't even bother looking for ANYTHING here anymore. read more

Went there to get something's from the pharmacy and makeup isle. Pharmacy people were friendly and helpful. The makeup isle was almost completely empty and when I asked about it they said they were putting the makeup into locked cabinets and they we're waiting for the cabinets. I'm guessing they are doing that due to shoplifting because of their location. I understand why but I hope this is not all Rite Aids because it's super inconvenient for those of us who don't steal and like to browse and compare colors before we by. read more

This locations have two employees that are just unreasonable. The restrooms are locked because there's only two of them working, as was told to me by an employee. We know that the restrooms are functioning properly because the employees share the same restroom as the customers and they would have to go use the restroom also. But to be honest they're probably just being selective about who they allow in the restrooms, which is discriminatory practice. But don't worry I will no longer support the store brand. Rite Aid seems to practice this because I was discriminated against before at a different Rite Aid location (Studio City, CA) they denied me from using the restroom. I have to wait 4 days in excruciating nerve pain for a root canal this Friday. The dentist prescribed Tylenol with Codeine for me which I filled here yesterday. It did very little for my pain and I had an awful night so the dentist prescribed Norco for me and when I came to fill it today, the pharmacist overrode my doctor and said she wouldn't give it to me for two days because I have the Codeine, which again, doesn't help me. This pharmacist thinks she knows better than my doctor. I offered to bring in the bottle of Codeine I don't need and she refused. It's inhumane as I'm in truly terrible pain. I took it over to Walgreens and they filled it right away. I told them what happened at this Rite Aid and they couldn't believe it. Neither could my dentist. I will never buy anything at this location after being treated this way. Shame on you. You're supposed to be helping people. read more

OK So yeah it's one star and there are many reasons why. The first thing is you can't enter this store within being hit up for money by at least 2 or 3 homeless people. I'm sorry for your situation but really this place needs to control some of this not to mention the mess they are leaving outside the store. This trip I needed to get something for a head cold and since the meth and cocane addicts us nasal medicine to cut their product with, you have to stand in a long line and give your idea to be entered into the computer so they can track your usage. The line was about 5 deep with one person at the counter that was taking a huge amount of time with a customer. The pharmacist should have either helped her or called for assistance. Especially for people that all they need is the nasal med that is hidden behind the counter. This happens pretty much every time I go in which is only as needed. read more

They never have your prescriptions ready and when you call to see if your precaution is ready they say no in an hour and then you go to pick up the prescription and still not ready after even giving them two hours to prepare. They are Rude at the counter. I was buying 2 boxes of tissues. A small and large. The girl asked if I just threw the price on the floor. I'm no.. she asked it I put it in my purse.. no. Can you just ring up another box? She said to go get it myself. Ok no. I'll gotta go to work. Just ring up both as the larger box. It still had the price on it. Such an ordeal. This location is a joke when you have 10 customers standing in line and one person cashiering. It's a regular occasion for me when I go. I don't know about you, but this Rite Aid has saved my ass on numerous occasions. Normally, I don't frequent this drugstore as my main gal is Walgreens; Rite Aid is just my side-chick. But damn, when you need her she's always there. I can't tell you how many times I've needed some kind of random item. Everything from Aleve, tampons, concealer, and chocolate. Rite Aid has pulled through. Yeah, it can get kind of scummy in the evening and there's loads of bums around. The employees here have absolutely ZERO care for customers. They seem to not care about their jobs whatsoever. This place is awful!! Horrible customer service! I have NEVER IN MY LIFE been to such a horribly run store..the two employees I encountered were so very rude, unprofessional, incompetent and sloppy. The old woman, "supervisor" and an employee whom had "no name" both attacked me with their impertinent comments , and acted as if they were in some high school clique with their snarky behavior. I even asked to speak to the manager, completely shaken by this altercation and this employee refused to call a manager (being a supervisor) I guess she felt she had the authority to refuse my request and to oppress a customer. This is hands down the worst Rite Aid in town. Ignoring the plethora of homeless people constantly hanging out around the entrance, and the less than desirable people lurking all around, the employees are rude too. I walked in on my way home from work tonight and picked up a snack that was on sale for club card members. I waited in the long line, when the cashier screamed, "NEXT!" I walked up to this abrasive woman and her coworker told her to say, "Next, please." She merely shrugged. She told me the price and I said I had a club card. She stared at me like I was a hoodlum causing trouble. Mind you, I was in my work clothes and cleanly shaven. I entered my phone number. She said it didn't work and told me the full price on the item again. Not a single offer to sign me up or accommodate me in any way. Just pure hatred and rudeness. I was fed up at this point and told her to forget it. She grabbed the item aggressively off the counter and turned around. Do yourself a favor and go to literally any other Rite Aid in town if you can. I don't need to avoid the shitty people outside (not referring to the normal homeless people just trying to survive) only to deal with shitty employees. Never again. read more

This Rite Aid is on the main East-West thoroughfare through town, but it is not in the best neighborhood. Every time I have come here I have been approached by transients outside. On this last visit, when I didn't respond, the transient out front yelled out "Did you hear me?" I'm not heartless, but as we walked in he'd been sitting on the ground informing all passersby in a very loud voice that "I'm drunk off my ass!" so really I don't think handing him cash outside a store that sells liquor was going to help him in the long run. Once inside, however, it's as nice as any other Rite Aid in town carrying cosmetics, bath & beauty products, over the counter medications, food, liquor, and even a pretty decent collection of greeting cards. As well as, of course, candy that is MUCH less expensive than that you can buy at the movie theaters. Hint. Hint. All in all it was conveniently located and got the job done. read more

When I am in downtown Bakersfield during these hot summer days, I go to this Rite Aid location. Their Thrifty brand ice cream tastes really good, and is so very affordable. Rocky Road is my favorite flavor, and it is as good as any gourmet ice cream shop. My only complaint about coming here is being hassled by panhandlers. They do not stop me from coming here, but probably prevent others from patronizing this branch. read more

This was the worst store l have ever been to. Looks fine, area... can't expect much it's Bakersfield but hey. The customer service was the worst I have experienced. They had their 2/6.00 Ice Cream special so of course the freezer was bare (Expected). You could see the new shipment right there just behind though. We asked if they could get some ice cream from the back. Their reply was, "nope its half way down the stack and they wouldn't go back and move all the others off of it." Fine if you don't want to do your job whatever, it was how rude it was said and the shock and astonishment on the persons face that the worker gave that a customer would ask them to was not OK. I do not know what the complainers are concerned about. I have been coming to this Rite Aid for decades, as it is 1/2 mile from my house. the staff are universally friendly and responsive. The pharmacist will go out of his/her way to make sure my needs are met. The place is clean and well taken care of. Yes, there are homeless around it, but this is now a universal issue. read more

Here are the main problems with this Rite Aid: 1. The store is usually a mess and products are out. 2. The employees are usually too busy having personal conversations than helping people or stocking shelves. 3. The only person really working, the cashier, can never seem to call for more cashiers. Why have all of those registers if you never open more than one? While Walgreens is smaller and has only two places to check out typically, I will be going there from now on. They are nice, fast, and always have shelves fully stocked. read more

This is a typical Rite Aid, comparable to anything else in its class. That is, if you make it inside. Trust me, you WILL be panhandled upon entering. And you may even have a verbal altercation with one of said panhandlers. Before entering, put on your first person video game attitude. Pretend it is your mission to make it through the front door, avoiding any and all verbal assaults upon your person. Once inside you may shop normally, but back into video game mode as you leave, I'm afraid. Last time I was there a beggar was scaring the bejesus out of an elderly lady as she entered, and tried his crap with me, both as I entered and exited. It did NOT end well. It was enough of an experience that I called the manager when I arrived home. She cut me off as I was speaking, and I could feel the rolling of her eyes and "oh gawd" attitude as I was speaking. This Rite Aid is the only drug store near my house, so I've stopped in there at least once a week for the past 4 years. The first time I was actually shocked at how rude the cashiers were. I assumed they, (one in particular) wouldn't last long with that attitude. 4 years later, not only is she still there, she's still just as rude as ever. Every...single...time & I'm not exaggerating in the least. I'm friendly to all customer service ppl so I'm almost happy to read all these other reviews & realize it's not just me she's this way with. I'd always thought I rubbed her the wrong way. Guess she's just rude. There's another employee who is "usually" rude, but out of the hundreds of times I've been there, she was actually nice to me once. I think the 2 of them might actually be sisters, they look a lot alike. I believe they're both lower level management, so kinda pointless to complain to them about them. There are always transients outside, (& in)...but I expect that. The mentally unstable ones can be frightening though. I almost always walk in with my pepper spray in hand. The only "deterrent" I've noticed the management implement is they stopped replacing the shopping carts the transients stole years ago. While I understand their issue, it sure makes it difficult for customers to purchase more than a handful of items...which I almost always do. I always have to walk back & forth to the front of the store to drop off each armload until I'm ready to pay for everything...all the while getting dirty looks from the cashiers. The cashier was rather rude. I wanted to get the discounted card prices but my phone number didn't work, and she tried to make me pay the higher prices. I asked if I could sign up for a card and she just kept repeating the higher price and waited for me to pay. I finally used a different phone number that worked. Other than that, no issues. They were short on eggs, but it's a pharmacy not a grocery store. I got one of the last few boxes. They had everything else I needed. read more

I've never had a problem at any rite aid in bakersfield till I started shopping at this location. Customer service here is so bad at this location regardless of what time of day or day of the week it is. This includes the pharmacy section. Give thanks to the manager or whoever was in charge the times I've been in there to shop. I have a medical condition where i had to used the restroom very very bad and couldn't find anyone on duty to open the restroom door. The cashier told me to contact the pharmacy and the pharmacy called out over the intercom in which i stood there for 15 minutes and still no response. I had to walk out. I was trying to drop off a prescription and the lady handling the pharmacy at that moment was extremely rude and unprofessional... I wasn't helped for several minutes and then when I asked for helped she acted as though I was bothering her. Then after she finally decided to help me she laughed when she noticed she didn't carry one of the prescription..
