As somebody who has a bachelors, Masters, and a pending Doctorate in Management , I can sadly say this was one of the worse experiences I've ever encountered. Almost didn't want to pay for my whole meal. As you can see, first screen shot shows I waited over 13 minutes for even somebody to come say hi and bring me chips and salsa, meanwhile a table of 10 sat next to us and the supervisor Alfredo right away served them two sides of chips and salsa. Finally, I got to ordered, I got carnitas, which I enjoy with tortillas and sides such as, pico and salsa, had to order pico on the side. Waited patiently while I poke my food to have tortillas and a beer that I could ordered, didn't have a chance to even order it due to short staff and filling of customer over flowing the area. Had to go to the bar and order myself a beer while asking for the floor manager. I'm the type of person that I enjoy the whole nine yards with my food. With no beer, tortillas, or even pico available I decided to quit eating and tell the supervisor on hand that I wasn't going to pay for my meal and that I was very disappointed. IT IS NOT THE SERVERS FAULT, THIS IS A CASE OF POOR MANAGEMENT! I spent over $1500 at this casino over a week span and this was such a heartbreak. 'Ritas Cantina is located right next to the adult pool section at the Harrah's hotel. It is a large casual restaurant with plenty of indoor and outdoor seats. Inside they have several large screen TV's if you're in the mood to watch sports or you can sit outdoor and enjoy the view of the pool. Their menu features a variety of Tex-Mex food options. Come during their happy hour from 4-6 PM for their $5 margaritas and 40% off all appetizers. Their food portions are very generous so come hungry. Even their appetizers were a decent size. Don't forget all tables get complimentary warm chips and 4 salsas to choose from too. Overall the food was tasty. Slightly on the greasier side but hey, we're on vacation :) Their customer service was spot on. Our server was friendly and prompt and our food came out pretty quickly. For the amount of food we got, their prices were very reasonable. Most entrees were around $10 and with the happy hour discount, we got appetizers for $4-6. If you don't want a full meal or need a quick stop, they also have a food truck right next door to grab a drink or taco on the way in or out of the pool area. We almost didn't see this place because it was late and in the back by the pool. Have to walk right past the Rita's food truck. They were busy. Staff sat us with 5 minutes. The menu is very big with lots of choices. Great margaritas and tequila choices. The Blood Orange was so good you couldn't taste the tequila but for sure feel it. We got the steak Gordita for appetizer. It was good and plated great for a photo. The carnitas tacos were really good too. Kid friendly and staff was very friendly. read more

They have a live band that plays here on Sat night - soul, funk and old school songs - from 9p-???. They were actually pretty good! We were lucky enough to snag a table shortly after 9p. We were never approached by the staff if we wanted drinks, which was discerning. Luckily we only stayed for about an hour before we left. There were a lot of people dancing in front of the band, which I thought was cool. With that said, don't sit in any of the tables close to the stage or else you will have dancers all over you and your drinks may get spilled! Craving Mexican food thought we'd try the only Mexican restaurant in the Harrah's So Cal. We were hesitant to try this place because we've had the tacos from the outside taco truck and they were not good at all. I ordered the carne asada fajitas and to my surprise they were flavorful, tender and delicious! IWe also tried the carnitas tacos and those were very good. I wish I would have taken pictures. Came here for dinner with my wife. We know why it was pretty empty when we got here at 7:45 PM. The chips were over salty, the salsa selection was lacking in taste. The blood orange margaritas were okay, but nothing great. we both ordered the combination of chili rellano, enchilada, and taco. We expected the plates to be scorching hot like a typical mexican restaurant, but the plates were not and the beans, rice enchilada, and chili rellano were mostly room temperature. I gobbled mine down before the food got even colder. My wife took a couple of bites and sent it back. They replaced it with a new order, but it still was as hot as we usually get back home. I'm giving it 3 because they were busy and I know Covid 19 has been a struggle but they deserve a zero. the Fajitas Beef/chicken combo was not good, meat was poor quality tough meat with gristle. The menu has totally changed, and the food is substantially more expensive, while the flavors are of no improvement. Actually, the food they served prior to this remodel/menu was much better. Also, keep in mind that they still require that you purchase an entrée if you want to drink any form of alcohol with your dinner, lunch, breakfast, etc. You cannot order an appetizer and be allowed to purchase anything alcoholic. Lastly, we were there about three nights ago, and they had no tortilla chips. As in, we asked for tortilla chips when we were seated and didn't receive anything, and our waiter told us that they were actually out the tortilla chips. A Mexican food restaurant, inside a large casino, is out of tortilla chips... Really? You have one job. I can almost see overlooking certain items when ordering for the restaurant, but the tortilla chips...?? Wrong people in management. Wrong people running the show. No one is running the show. Honestly, it's such a shame, because it's such a cool restaurant, and it has so much potential. However, they just can't seem to get it right. They are overcharging (yes, I understand there was a pandemic that put everyone back financially, and you're trying to catch up, but completely at your patrons expense?). The food is SO bland and tasteless. The only improvement I've seen is that they've added a Mezcal menu. You can try flights of differing Mezcal, and that's pretty cool (that's why there are two stars instead of one....). But don't expect to have any tortilla chips with your Mezcal. Came here during this COVID period with a large group. Very generous with the chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and light. I liked that it wasn't just table salt on the chips, but some red seasonings as well. The red salsa that came with the chips had no spice to it...some may prefer it that way, but not myself. The asada was actually pretty good and I liked that they put grilled onions and peppers in it versus the usual pico de gallo that is usually put in carne asada burritos from your local taco shop. The burrito came with a side of sour cream and a bed of shredded lettuce and tomatoes. There was no salsa or hot sauce in the burrito. My wife ordered grilled fish tacos. She says they were really good because she was so hungry. However, they lacked a little flavor so she added some of the salsa that was on our table that were for the chips. She said the fish was really good, but she just wished there was some spicier salsa. The tacos came with a side of beans and rice. You can choose black beans or refried beans. We also ordered a pitcher of cucumber margarita and mango margarita. My wife said the cucumber margarita was really good. I was working on the pitcher of mango margarita. I did not ask for a second iced tea but she brought me one.and charged me for it. My taco was ok. The enchilada was good. We decided to try Rita's again. What a pleasure. Tried a special order of fajitas de carnitas, not on the menu. The food was really good the carnitas were cooked just right. Margaritas were a little sweet but they're still margaritas. Having serranos chili on the plate for a little bit of heat was great. The beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo all went to gather nicely. It was very good I'm glad to see they've made big strides in improving their food quality. We had planned to go to the dinner buffet so we just sat at the bar and ordered drinks and appetizers. I had the Cadillac margarita in the huge collectors cup. I think it was 32oz. When you order it, you can get refills but by the time I was done with the first one, it was time for our dinner. We ordered tortilla chips that come with two salsa's (one spicy and one mild) and also a cheese dip. The cheese dip was delicious yet spicy. The Pepper melon Rita is with fresh watermelon so YUM but on rocks is better than frozen. Fun spot for happy hour or really any hour. Kudos to this place opening up during COVID and keeping people distanced and safe. The atmosphere was a tad dated and the food was not as good as I was expecting. I love pozole, but though this was hearty, it desperately lacking flavor and spice. The staff was courteous, but also rather slow given it was hardly crowded. We were trying to decide on where to go for dinner tonight as just got checked into the hotel. Our daughter wanted Mexican food so we decided to try Rita's. We thought we made a good choice as it was not busy on Thursday night. We ordered a plain cheese quesadilla for our daughter, my wife ordered the surf and turf and I had the chimichanga with shredded beef. The service was horrible and slow. It took 10 minutes to get my Pacifico and it was not very cold by the time it came to the table. The only dish that was decent was the plain cheese quesadilla. My chimichanga had no flavor and was so bland. The worst dish was the surf and turf. The lobster was over cooked and the Steak was supposed to be medium rare and it was well done. It took 10 minutes for the server to come back around to let her know the steak was cooked wrong. The second time the steak same back it still was not right but couldn't wait any longer as the kid was getting feisty. We should have just got the check and left but my kid wanted ice cream so we ordered fried ice cream for dessert and it was ok nothing special. Unfortunately, our experience here was beyond disappointing - it was one of those notoriously bad experiences we'll be talking about for years. We were craving Mexican food, and decided to come here and use our room credits rather than heading down the mountain to a taco shop. It wasn't all bad, but quite a lot of it was very bad. I'll come back to the food specifics later, but I want to talk about our experience first. Our server was a sweetheart and super attentive, and the food all came out quickly and accurately. But no one in our party of 4 was happy with their food. When she came back to check up on us, we tried to be polite and 'yeah we are fine' it - but clearly she cared about our experience enough to observe that we didn't enjoy our dishes and offered to fix them. She kept coming back to check on us, asking for our honest opinions, and although we were trying to be polite, we didn't have much positive to say. She did an awesome job of taking care of us from the service side, bringing out replacement food and taking items off the check, and bringing us a complimentary dessert - but there's only so much you can do without good food coming out of the kitchen. The manager took care of us with a service recovery credit and asked us to come back and give them another chance. Had the experience ended here, that's probably exactly what would have happened... chalk it up as a fluke and come back next time. But... then... the chef came out of the kitchen, clearly agitated, and sat down at the head of our table to make us explain what was wrong with his food. Of course this was awkward (how could it not be?) but I tried to take it in the spirit of 'he really cares and wants to improve' until everything we mentioned was immediately refuted and defended/dismissed. It didn't feel like a genuine effort to understand but more like a 'how dare you' confrontation. It was awful. No one should do that to a customer ever. We didn't come there hoping to be let down - we came there hungry and hoping to be fed good food. So what was wrong with the food that led to all this? Entree 1: I got Combo #2 with a fish taco. My plate was beautiful. I bee-lined for the gorgeous fish taco, bit into it enthusiastically... and was punched in the mouth by an overwhelmingly pungent fish flavor. I guess my facial expression spoke volumes because my friends all stared at me in shock (I'm pretty well known as a human garbage disposal who will eat anything). I immediately moved that taco off of my plate to get it out of my life. The rest of my plate, however, was great. Good rice and beans, cheesy enchilada, chile releno, and hot fresh flour tortillas. The chicken taco that I got to replace the fish taco was nice as well with mango salsa and nice grill marks on the chicken. Entree 2: Friend got fish tacos as her entree, and hers were equally as pungent as mine: not edible. She decided to eat only the rice and beans for lunch. We suggested to the chef that maybe a more mild fish would be appropriate - but he defended his choice citing that it was printed on the menu. We also mentioned that he check their stock of the fish because it might actually be off (the flavor really was that strong). Entree 3: Friend got carnitas burrito and only finished 1/3 of it before declaring it the worst burrito he's ever eaten and giving up on it. I tried a piece of the meat and i thought the flavor was fine, but it was indeed soggy and had excessive fatty mush that i had to pick off. He also complained that there was lettuce in the burrito and wrapped so loosely that it started falling apart as soon as he picked it up. My suggestion would be to pan fry the carnitas to crisp it up before using, and leave that lettuce on the side. Entree 4: Friend got Enchilada Suizas and didn't eat them, saying the meat was sour. (I didn't try it so can only report 3rd hand.) Everyone else agreed with her that the flavor was wrong. The chef claimed that was intentional and was his twist on the dish. The appetizers were a better experience: Appetizer 1: Complimentary Chips & Salsas/Queso Dip: Nothing wrong here. These were probably the highlight of the meal. The chips were beautifully colored and seasoned, and i loved the tower of salsas which included a warm queso dip - which was my favorite part. Appetizer 2: Mexican Eggrolls. These were tasty - not OMG best i've ever had but definitely passable. The dipping sauce was a weird choice - it was too sweet and syrupy - but thanks to the queso dip and salsas, this was a non issue - i just used those. ~ ~~ SUMMARY ~ ~ (+) Service was great. (+) Chips/Salsa Tray and Appetizers were great. (-) Fish tacos were so pungent they were inedible. (-) Entrees all had something off putting but maybe some is preference. (+) Service recovery was awesome, but.. (---) the confrontational chef was not. Will I give them another chance?
