I must admit that this review is long overdue!…read more I have dined here at least 3 times with my latest at the chef's counter on a Friday evening and was the perfect date night spot. I lucked out with reservations on OpenTable last minute when they released a bunch of counter availability. Which is crazy since it's so hard to get a reservation that isn't at 9:45pm. My only concern was that we might be seated in front of the fire stove where the majority of the cooking is done because it can get hot and coupled with the the summer weather, I was worried about sweating lol. Luckily, we were seated at the opposite end and had the best view and enjoyed watching the chefs prep our meal. They don't serve cocktails here, just wine, and we started with two glasses of bubbly, which were delicious! However, when we tried to transition to the other wines available by the glass, none of them tasted that great and almost tasted too acidic or maybe had too many tanins for my liking. As a result, we reverted back to the sparkling wine. However, I do want to take a moment to express how amazing our server was because he was kind enough to let us sample all the reds by the glass before we committed to a glass. Also, I appreciated that he didn't chastise us when we didn't end up liking any of them. However, I absolutely love the food here! The one thing that you must get is the CORNBREAD! It's nothing like you've ever had before and is their signature dish. It's comforting, it's buttery and feels like home. I've also gotten the Pork and Green Chili Stew which is amazing (think Chile Verde). I've also tried their Ribeye, and for the price, I'm not sure that it's my favorite item on the menu. For my most recent visit, we ordered the following: Bluefin Tuna Toast - This was light and refreshing, but also filling since it sits on a slice of bread. This was enjoyable but I preferred the Baby Albacore. Baby Albacore - This is such a small dish and I think it only has six slices of fish, but it has so much depth of flavor and so much texture with the crispy shallots that we were tempted to order another one! This is a beautifully executed dish. And the best part was that we got to watch it being prepared in front of us. Mushroom Crusted Pork Chop - I had been reading that this was such an amazing dish, so I made sure to try it this time around! It did not disappoint! It was incredibly flavorful and rich. My boyfriend, who is not a fan of pork really enjoyed this dish. Sliced market tomatoes - this is a no-frills side dish, but felt that this was a perfect balance as something fresh and light against the rich and fattiness of the pork chop. I was worried that this would not be enough food for the two of us since I have a big appetite, but suffice to say I was very satisfied! The service is here is outstanding! I wish I got the name of my server, but he reminded me of Teddy Swims! He was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating! It was the best service I've had in a while! One last thing, I didn't try any desserts this time around, but I still very fondly remember the passionfruit icebox cake... Please bring that back!!!

There was already a line forming along the side of the restaurant when we got there, which I assume was for walk-ins or waitlisted guests, it looked like they were getting seated fairly quickly too. We sat at the high-top counter right in front of the open fire where they cook the steaks, fish, etc. It was actually a really fun experience getting to watch the chefs prepare and plate everything, and seeing how the kitchen operates. It reminded me of The Bear, with someone calling out orders and everyone working together to get the dishes out. The only downside is that it gets REALLY hot sitting there, but they do warn you about that when making the reservation, so we knew what we were getting into! As for the food, our favorites were the cornbread, albacore, and the pork chile stew with the house made tortillas. We also liked the sticky pudding but as it is a bit sweet already, I would opt out of the extra syrup they add on it in front of you. Service was great too, everyone was super attentive. I love that the staff's uniform seemed to be graphic tees of their choosing. Such a fun little detail that added to the restaurant's personality. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and the experience, especially getting a front-row seat to all the kitchen action but personally didn't think it lived up to all the hype.

GIFT CERTIFICATES - BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK! SCAM BUSINESS!…read more I was a frequenter to both Morrison locations in Burbank and Los Feliz. They bear the same name, menu, shirts, decor, etc. This gives the consumer the impression that these are absolutely related businesses that share ownership/management. A family member knew I loved the Morrison, and bought a $100 gift certificate from the Los Feliz location and gave it to me as a birthday gift. That location shut down a few weeks later, so I took it the gift certificate to the Burbank location. After attempting to use it after ordering a ton of food and drink, they straight up told me they are not associated with the other location whatsoever and they would not honor the gift certificate. Whether that's the truth or not (I don't believe them) you have a BRAND TO PROTECT. This is what sharing a brand is! To make the cognizant decision not to honor this gift certificate is theft! I will NEVER return to a business that bears the Morrison name ever again. You have lost a customer for life. I now implore all Yelpers to boycott this business for shady business practices. They literally took the $100 and disappeared! Where's my $100 Morrison?

The steak was cooked really poorly and was very very chewy. Sauce was nearly inedible. We each took one bite and could not eat any more of it. First time ever leaving a steak dish alone, ever. I like the idea of a wasabi infused au poivre sauce but it was extra bitter and had a funky sour taste to it. 2. Kimchi was WAY too salty. I understand kimchi is salted during brining, but we each had one piece and couldn't eat any more. I lean towards a saltier palate but I just couldn't eat more. 3. The chicken wings tasted fine, but they weren't even tossed with the sauce completely. Some pieces had only a few drops of sauce. None were fully coated. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but I wanted to point it out. 4. Salad was served in a full bowl and we were instructed to toss the salad ourselves. Either the salad should be tossed with the dressing or we should have a bigger bowl? This might just sound nit-picky, so I'll just leave it at that. 5. We ordered one of everything on the late night menu, and we were told that the tuna was sold out. No problem. When the food came out, we had 2 orders of the wings come out. We only ordered one. When we asked, we found out that the server mistakenly put one order of the wings and one order of the wings combo. Honest mistake, no problem. We had everything come out except the kimchi pancake, and when we asked about it, we were told, "oh, that must be sold out too then." Maybe the kitchen had an off night? I even thought possibly it was because we went too late? But we arrived at the restaurant just past 12 and restaurant closes at 2am on a Saturday, and we didn't receive any notice of a last call in the kitchen, so I don't think that was the issue. Ambiance was fine, server was kind - just hard to get past the food. I replied to an email from the restaurant asking about our dining experience with the above mentioned and got zero response, so now I feel like this just needs to be shared to the public. Maybe the generic automated email is also telling to the laziness of the food. I'm sure their actual dinner menu is better, but what's the point if the food isn't consistent across the board? Maybe don't do the late night menu if it's going to be regarded as unimportant. Again, this is my one experience there from just the late night menu. Not sure if i want to give it another try for a while, but one bad experience usually carries more weight than good ones, unfortunately. Lastly, for a "no tipping" policy where they enforce a 20% fee to cover their operations, I should expect much better from the restaurant. Very, very disappointing. Was really hopeful for this restaurant, but here we are. Hope they do better moving forward.

The service was top notch from the private resturant entrance, the hosts, the beverage director to our wonderful server. The afternoon tea service is by far my favorite out of the few places I have been to. The food itself was well presented and tasted amazing! Beautiful mini edible flowers and attention to detail. The ability to smell the teas before you pick and the accommodations of dietary restrictions we had in our group. I got the herbal butterfly tea flower, they also give you warm honey so it was easier to pour into your tea. The best thing I ate was the green flower tartette made with vegetarian pate and the cucumber sandwich that had individual strips of cucumber on toasted bread. The salmon finger sandwich that was perfectly prepared. There were additional savory items were on top on the tower, sandwiches on the second tier and lastly the desserts. We had come during happy hour but waited til dinner time as the waiter and staff say it was ok. We wanted to get the full menu options as HH has a limited food menu. My wife and I along with our cousins enjoyed the night of food drinks and desserts. As mentioned, once dinner hit the whole restaurant filled up. We all shared multiple apps like the pizza and deviled eggs. (great options) I opted for the TFY burger (medium rare) which came with fries for dinner. My wife, the Mary's Half Chicken. Both entrees, were mouthwatering. Worth the elevated price range. The burger was juicy and thick. Just the way I liked it! I'd recommend it. After dinner we ordered a plethora of desserts to share. They were all yummy. I had a scoop of coffee ice cream which hit the spot after a great dinner. Our server was amazing the whole time. He provided great service for us all!
