We are staying up the road so we came here to check out the local fare. They sat us upstairs where the view to the sea is gorgeous. La Stratta can be both a romantic or a family experience. The menu is diverse with pizzas and entrees plus a nice selection of sides and salads. The octopus starter was delicious, tender and creamy. I was disappointed because I reserved this restaurant for the rooftop dinning experience. However, due to the weather, we weren't seated upstairs. They check for vaccination cards before being seated. The staff were friendly and the service was top notch. My partner enjoyed his fried calami, octopus, and shrimp. I did not like my pasta because it lacked flavor. I would try the pizza during the next dinning experience. This was the best wine we've had during our stay in Italy and it was difficult to find it anywhere else afterwards. It was a perfect semi-sweet wine. Outstanding trattoria with a large selection of traditional Southern Italian dishes. We used their free courtesy shuttle from the Tritone to the restaurant and were promptly seated in the main dining room upstairs. We ordered the local Marisa Cuomo Furore Costa d'Amalfi which is light and fruity. We split fried zucchini flowers, caprese and carpaccio, all were great with the fried blossoms being everyone's favorite. My wife and I then split a capriccioso pizza which had an amazing tender crust and just the right amount of toppings. Service was very attentive, and the prices are great for the area. read more

Two years later we decided to stay in Praiano and knew this is where we would definitely want to eat again. The food and service is over the top. The view is amazing with great sunsets. We had the best meal here while staying in the Amalfi Coast, and how convenient that it was just across the street from our hotel!! This was our favorite place in Paraino/Positano on our recent trip to Italy and the Amalfi Coast, and we ate here several nights. First off, the owner/hostess is just the nicest lady in the world. She made us feel like we were visiting a friend's house and couldn't have been more friendly and genuine. The service in general was fabulous -- our waiters were so helpful and friendly. Even so, the best part of La Strada is the food. Some of the best I tried in my 2+ weeks in Italy! My favorite dishes were the seafood risotto (phenomenal!) and the fish with lemon (sinful!). In all fairness though, everything we tried here was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. The desserts were also divine, and beautifully done. It's also a lovely restaurant with stunning views of the Amalfi Coast from the balcony..couldn't ask for better ambiance. I highly recommend you make a reservation as it does get crowded later in the evening and unless you are going right when they open you may not be able to get in. Tip: if you are in Paraino, they will send a car to pick you up and drop you off, and even the driver is a sweetheart. Couldn't ask for better service all around. :) read more

Staying at the casa angelina lifestyle hotel. Ate here on our first night In Praiano and it was exactly what we needed! We were tired of eating "resort food" and just wanted some good Italian "mom and pop" food. And that's what we got! Great great service!! And the bottom floor may look empty but that doesn't mean the restaurant is! They have an upstairs balcony that overlooks positano and is breathtaking! My wife and I found the service to be friendly at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was less than average. I ordered pasta filled with lobster in a potato sauce. It consisted of about only 6 small envelopes of pasta which were stuffed with a small amount of what was presumably lobster. The food was only lukewarm when presented at the table. My wife had the chicken in tomato and cheese sauce, which was mediocre at best. The price for dinner was definitely on the high side, but the food did not warrant the high prices. Uh, OK that was weird. I am in Praiano right now and called the number on their website to request a dinner reservation. It was the same number as the one here on Yelp, and it was answered by a very irate-sounding man who shouted angrily, "No no no! NO English! BYE!!!!" and hung up on me. I thought I might have dialed the wrong number but I double and triple-checked it, and it was correct. Their web site is in both Italian and English and I know for a fact that this place is heavily frequented by tourists, so for someone to answer their business phone in such a rude and nasty manner is really disappointing. And this was AFTER I politely introduced myself with the only Italian phrase I know, "Mi dispiace, non parlo Italiano [I'm sorry, I don't speak Italian], but can I please make a dinner reservation?" A solid, convenient, and dependable choice in Praiano, La Strada has a great terrace with a beautiful view of the coast, a nice wine selection (many by the half bottle), and a great selection of pastas and fish specials, too. We ate here twice during a recent week in the Amalfi area, and found the combination of reasonable prices, great pasta dishes, and that nice view worthy of two trips. This was our first meal in Praiano and it did not disappoint. Ordered the linguine with clams and the local cheese platter (both were amazing). The patio had a canopy to fend off the chill that was still present in late April, and we went after dark, so the view didn't factor into our experience, but I can imagine that would only have made it an even better experience. We almost didn't walk in when we saw only one couple in the dining room. The manager told us everyone is seated upstairs on the terrace. I am glad she got us before we left.
