Ate here for dinner tonight. We had a Margarita pizza, minestrone soup, bruschetta & a chicken dish. My hubby's chicken came out significantly after my meal. Believe what you read - service was great at the beginning (we had 630 ressie) but as night wore on, we had to flag down for the bill. Also asked for my free limoncello per Yelp app checkin feature. They never returned with it so we just paid the bill & left. Beautiful setting outdoors but I was also getting bit by mosquitoes. It was walkable from our hotel but not sure I'd go back.
Cocktails and food were delicious, and my partner is vegan but enjoyed the zucchini pasta very much. Service was great and more friendly than other spots we tried during our visit. The view at sunset was incredible and the bill was extremely reasonable. Would return if we have the chance to stay in Positano again.
The location and decor is quite pretty so you may be fooled into thinking this may be a great place to have a meal. But no, there are better places nearby. The service was mediocre and they didn't bring us any bread but had some for other tables. My bolognese pasta was okay but nothing special. My husband's food was below average. His second course was the chicken. It was an unseasoned chicken breast with a lemon wedge and a couple of strips of lettuce. I was a bit shocked at the zero effort on this dish and had to ask if this was the chicken from the menu. I thought maybe there was a misunderstanding. He said it indeed it's the chicken on the menu. We fed half of it to a hungry cat walking by. It was literally just a bland chicken breast with no type of sauce or seasoning!
I came here with my husband and our friends for dinner and we loved it! My husband and friends had pizzas and I came for a seafood pasta and that's exactly what I got! It was very good!! All of it was! The service was amazing! We finished our meals with tiramisu for dessert and it was also delicious! We didn't have a view really, but it didn't matter,
Il Fornillo was honestly one of the biggest disappointments I had on my trip to the Amalfi Coast. The service was awful and it just felt like a gross atmosphere. I hated the ambiance. Our food took a long time, and it most definitely was not worth the wait. The food was really not great. The bolognese tasted worse than most pasta Ive had, including pasta out of the freezer section at the grocery store. The sauce from the fish we ordered was actually quite nice, which was a redeeming quailing but that's pretty much it. Only reason I'm not giving it a one star is because they did have a nice view across the street. I would definitely try some other places before going to Il Fornillo, it was not worth the time or money at all. Also, the menu was hard to follow and was in all sorts of fonts and sizes. That's me nit picking but I've never been to a restaurant like thatZ Was definitely disappointing compared to all the other restaurants I tried in Positano.
Dreamed of coming to Positano in forever. Finally made it in 2022. We came here because this restaurant was literally a few steps from our B&B. The 3 stars was for the Super cute ambiance looked very romantic, lit trees, right on the street. I had bruschetta was wonderful, bread toasted just right with ripe tomatoes. For main dish, I ordered spaghetti with zucchini and Monaco cheese! Yum! My husband ordered their "homemade pasta" with Shem in a lemon butter- he did not like it. Shrimp smelled fishy and left with tail. He did not enjoy it. I wanted to try dessert- we ordered the traditional Italian "cannoli" it was NOT GOOD. It was not fresh, came cold as of it was sitting in fridge, no fresh crema, it was icy. Awful.
The food tasted fantastic. My seafood pasta tasted fresh & homemade and my husbands bolognese had great flavor! the downside of the food was the the portions are REALLY small for the price. the service was horrible. there was about three of us who were waiting for about 20-30 minutes just for our check. they never gave us bread either. we had to wave people down to order dessert and to get our check. the people around us waited longer than we did. the ambiance was beautiful though. if the portions were bigger & the service was better, I would come again but i do not recommend it.
Our last stop on our back packing trip was positano! It was AMAZING. Our outstanding Airbnb hostess Frank was kind enough to tell us about this restaurant when we arrived. It's the most adorable place, located on the most adorable corner. The views were incredible. They sat our party of 7 right away even though they were busy. We started with a bottle of red wine! We did the house wine and it did not disappoint. The mussel soup was AMAZING. I loved it. The home made ravioli was delicious stuff with ricotta cheese and spinach .. but personally not filling. It literally came with like 5 pieces, so if you're hungry I suggest getting something else. The portions for pasta weren't very filling but delicious non the less. We finished our meals with lemon cello and it was the cherry on top of an amazing dinner that we needed. This place would definitely be a 5 star if it weren't that the portions were so small.. it's pretty pricey so for the amount I'm paying I would expect a lot more food.

Initially passed this restaurant on the bus and it was full of patrons laughing and enjoying dinner. I immediately made a reservation and was not disappointed. I ate zucchini flowers in tempura for the first time and it was delicious! The batter was a little salty but in a good way and made the flowers tasty. For my main I had the lobster ravioli. While very tasty I was taken aback by the portion size. For the price I believe it could have been a bit bigger. Our wait staff was attentive and the food came out quickly. The restaurant is popular and was full of other patrons enjoying their meals. As what is popular in Italy we were even greeted by their feline patrons. My part of the bill was charged incorrectly and I was immediately compensated for the difference. I would recommend this meal if you are looking for delicious food with beautiful views. It is a little pricey but at least the food is good. read more

Great food and friendly staff - we ate here twice during our Positano vacation and both times really enjoyed it! The bruschetta was delicious with perfectly charred, crunchy bread and seasoned, fresh tomatoes. Everything we had was great! read more

Incredible food, people, view .., if in Positano you must go. My husband had the homemade pasta with seafood and I had the sea bass with orange and lemon. The wine, appetizers and dessert were all outstanding! Do not miss this place if you make it to Positano!!! read more

We tried Il Fornillo on one of our first nights in Positano. We ordered the bruschetta and the Cacio e pepe (which was our favorite). Unfortunately, they don't make homemade pasta for any of their items. Also slightly overpriced but expected given the location. read more

Our last stop on our back packing trip was positano! It was AMAZING. Our outstanding Airbnb hostess Frank was kind enough to tell us about this restaurant when we arrived. It's the most adorable place, located on the most adorable corner. The views were incredible. They sat our party of 7 right away even though they were busy. We started with a bottle of red wine! We did the house wine and it did not disappoint. The mussel soup was AMAZING. I loved it. The home made ravioli was delicious stuff with ricotta cheese and spinach .. but personally not filling. We stopped by here for lunch based on a recommendation from our Airbnb host and we understand why it was recommended! The food was amazing the view was incredible. It was one of the nicest lunches I've ever had. I highly recommend the zucchini pasta. Can't wait to come back here in the summertime and experience the beautiful weather outside at this restaurant! read more

Il Fornillo is a wonderful place for dinner in Positano. The food is super delicious and the owners are wonderful people. My girlfriend Rebecca and I had the seafood pasta and I also tried the grilled lamb chops. We watched at people kept rolling in. Romantic couples, families and everyone from the neighborhood. Made us feel like it was the best place to be. And what do you know, the owner loves JAZZ! They did not have music playing when I was there but, we talked about jazz, took photos and had a great time. Jazz lovers who make the best Italian food is always a win win. The food was closer to a 3.5 and based on the first half of the evening I would have rounded up based on the view and friendly waiter, but by the end of the night it was a round down for the extra 45 min it took for us to flag down same said waiter and get out of there.... Started with bread service which wasn't complimentary (which they didn't mention) but was good (garlicky mini knots) so let that one pass... Shared the grilled calamari entree as an app- well cooked, very fresh Had the seafood risotto which was well seasoned but sparse on the seafood- few mussels and clams on top but rest of the seafood was chopped up very small and mixed in with the risotto Dessert was tiramisu - pretty yum, solid rendition. The view of the bay was beautiful, and was able to get a seat right at dusk. Service started strong but halfway through pretty much disappeared, as in had to flag down multiple people over an extended period of time, turning dinner into an unintentional 2.5 hr event... read more

Beautiful spot and romantically lit at night. We enjoyed dinner so much that we came back twice during our 3 night stay! Service was pretty slow on both nights and it was sometimes hard to get the waiter's attention, but our food overall was spectacular. My group tried a variety of dishes and loved all of them - my favorite was probably the stuffed calamari (tender whole squid stuffed with juicy calamari bits). read more

Il Fornillo was right near where our Airbnb was so after a long day we decided to meet two friends here instead of heading down the stairs into town. Il Fornillo had gluten free pasta and bread for one in our party which was perfect as they hadn't been able to enjoy either the previous days at other restaurants (even if they did say gluten free on yelp/maps). The Zucchini pasta is a must try if you like Zucchini at all. The light cheese sauce complimented the noodles and zucchini perfectly, very delightful. The pizza was also very good, best pizza we had out of a few in Positano. The prosciutto and sauce was very fresh. House wine was great too! It was reasonably priced for the area, I think the total was between 50-60 euros after cover and water. The only down side was that the bread the gave us was cold but it was free bread at the beginning so not much we could possibly find wrong with this place! Not to mention the view! Unbeatable with the perfect sunset we had, we stayed for almost 3 hours until close because it was so peaceful outside. Definitely recommend, especially if your stay is on this side of town! read more

TRY THE 4 CHEESE RAVIOLI/ PASTA IF YOU WANT ALFREDO TYPE PASTA, CREAMY GOODNESS, MADE MY TRIP!!! Severely underrated restaurant in the positano area. We got to meet the one of the owners (3 sisters) and the vibes were incredible. Everyone was laughing the waiters were extremely friendly and made us feel at home. As far as the food, i ordered a four cheese linguini (they made this for me as this was not on the menu) we also ordered a four cheese ravioli which was standout the best meal on the table in my party of 6. We showed up craving an alfredo type creamy cheese sauce. We then realized alfredo sauce is really an american dish and it is not common in authentic italian food, the way this restaurant adapted to my cravings was by far the most respectable thing they did and at the same time the 4 cheese sauce was everything i could have imagined. Their fried calamari was so fresh it was scary. The wine was incredible and we had some awesome desert too. I do not understand the low ratings people have left. Come to this restaurant with confidence, i had to leave a review which is something i never do, just because they need to do this place much more justice. read more

I've been in Positano for 4 days! Every day is better than before! This restaurant has the Heart of the area! The owner Margarita is super sweet! But will call stupid Americans out if they want Ranch with their pizza, or complain about tentacles in their calamari, or want red meat sauce with their fruita de mar! Eat what is in the menu, And shuta the fuk up! Italians know how to make food! Kindest sweetest woman ever! One of the best food and wine experiences ever! There is parking lot pretty close for five euros per hour. Really good views and great food. Service was not bad either. I would recommend trying the gnocchi or the spinach ravioli as they are both amazing. They took my wife back to meet the chef and to see the kitchen which was pretty cool as well. We came back later and did the cooking class, which was a blast, definitely ask about this! read more
