Local friends regularly stop at Tomaro's for pepperoni rolls after church on Sunday mornings; we were the lucky recipients of a bag full during a recent visit to Clarksburg. You might ask, what exactly is a "pepperoni roll"? A West Virginia regional specialty, it's a soft white, yeast-leavened bread roll filled with pepperoni (sticks or slices), and sometimes cheese. These were originally created by Italian-American immigrants to be a portable, non-refrigerated lunch for coal-miners in the early 20th century. Tomaro's carries on the tradition, and their pepperoni rolls have been voted the best in Harrison County annually from 2018-2025. If you can't make it to Clarksburg, they also distribute the pepperoni rolls to some groceries, such as The Local Market in Morgantown.
