They've been around for eight years, but moved to their new location in November. Now housed in the old Zippy's Hotdogs building in Southridge, they've become the only drive-thru bakery of their kind in West Virginia. My son has never tasted the heavenly goodness of a Sugar Pie cupcake, so I decided to try that drive-thru out and let him give this bakery a whirl on the tastemobile. David got the oreo cupcake. He has not ranked any restaurant below a 9 so far and there were no surprises in his verdict this time. His eyes got big as saucers as he took the first bite and he yelled, "There are oreos IN the cupcake! And this icing is so soft and fluffy, oh my gosh! Ten out of ten! Ten out of ten!" My child literally put the cupcake up to my face and squealed, "See the pieces of oreos, mom?!?" I wish he was as equally enthused about cleaning his room or taking a shower... I got the chocolate peanut butter cupcake. I agree that it was mighty tasty. I've had Sugar Pie before, so I wasn't as excited as David. Of course, I don't think anyone is as excited as my son when it comes to good food! :) If you've never had Sugar Pie Bakery cupcakes, cookies, pepperoni rolls or anything else on their yummy menu, I suggest that you stop by and check them out. Advertises everyday cupcake flavors but when I went in to get one on a Saturday afternoon, they had only a couple to choose from and not the ones I wanted. Their pastries did not look appealing. They made an ice cream cone that looked unprofessional and sloppy. Ambience was lacking. We left without anything. Will need to step up or will go under. read more

Picked up the cake - photos to follow- with no decorations, icing half-on and half off- just a mess. Called to try to rectify - nothing can be done. Visited for the first time on Harry Potter day. I had some of the macarons, treacle tart, and a chocolate frog with a Sorcerer's Stone. Everything was so delicious I couldn't even pick a favorite - the macarons were baked perfectly, the treacle tart was magical, and the ganache inside the frog was some of the best I've ever had. Super pie is the only bakery in town that does GF cupcakes, which I needed for a coworkers baby shower. Order placed a few weeks in advanced, when I arrived to pickup at 11 am (party was at noon). The cupcakes weren't ready. The lady who was assisting me listed off all the reasons why they weren't ready, including a power outage the night before. I don't like excuses and I don't care what the reasoning was, my product wasn't ready. Found the comment pretty unprofessional. They should have contacted me ahead of time to let me know there would be a delay. Also $120 for three dozen cupcakes is kinda overpriced for this market. I love the fact that Sugar Pie Bakery only makes a certain amount of goodies each day. Sure it's a bummer to see the case emptied out if you drop by too late, but I think it's a fun thrill to try to beat the crowd. It also means it's fresh! They also informed us that we can call ahead to have some put aside for you or just put in a custom order. On to the goodies. Yep, I made the rookie mistake and dropped in near to closing time. By then, I didn't have a lot of options to deal with- but they were still tasty. The cupcakes were moist & fluffy! Great rich, chocolate flavor- although I was not too fond of the frosting. When I came in younger adults working and a children running all around. When I got it looked ok but had plastic wrap and was smashing down on on the top of the decorations. Everyone in my office loves me when I bring cupcakes in from Sugar Pie Bakery! Every flavor we've had is so good I can never choose and just ask for an assortment. They also made a cake for my sisters baby shower that looked exactly like a suitcase. It was so amazing that everyone at the shower had to take a photo of it. I've read some of the reviews about the owners and customer service and I will say that everyone there has always been extremely nice and accommodating...and I've shown up last minute with rush orders. It is sad that a one-star review is the lowest rating I can give this establishment. The cupcakes are good, really good. However, the employees and management have taken what should have been a sweet customer experience and turned it sour very quickly. I'm writing this article on behalf of my mother, who has been treated poorly by this establishment twice. Last Friday when she ordered cupcakes for a party, she asked a worker if she had any more in the back to buy (there were only 3 or 4 cupcakes in the case). She said no, this was all they had. A few minutes later another worker came out from the back with a whole tray of cupcakes and told her that there were, in fact, more in the back. Second, when father went to pick up another order days later, the same worker got nasty with him saying that My mother hadn't paid for them. She had the receipt, showing she had paid in advance, and offered to fax it to her. All of a sudden she didn't need it. My father, unaware my mother had paid for three dozen cupcakes, received only two dozen. When my mother found out, she asked to speak to the manager who was very rude and condescending, stating that this lying, nasty employee was a "good worker". Good at lying, rudeness, and cheating? The cupcakes actually taste good, particularly the icing; however, the service left alot to be desired. My girlfriend bought me half dozen Red Velvet Cupcakes for Valentines Day; called when they opened the day of, and picked up around 4:30, eight hours later. When she did pick them up (she believes the owner checked her out) she saw all the other boxes with RED BOWS (50 or 60 at least). She asked if her box could have one too and was told they were too busy and that those were call-ahead orders (LIKE 8 HRS ISN'T?); the owner was also in a "frazzled" mood (perhaps overwhelmed by the busy occasion?). I mean REALLY!?! We're the type of people who would buy year- around, who prize little local spots and support entreprenuers. Not sure the two minutes saved effort to put on a bow and deliver some great customer service was worth it. But maybe it was... good luck surviving on the once-a-year orders. Shame. read more
