Everything we tried was soft, fresh, and flavorful without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. You can tell this is the kind of place that's been doing things the same (and doing them well) for a long time. The prices were also surprisingly great, and had they been listed, I would have purchased a lot more. It's a small, old-school bakery that's clearly been a local favorite for generations, and that charm is part of what makes it special. That said, as first-time visitors, it was a little tough to navigate. Nothing is labeled, no menu, no prices, so we had to ask a few questions and rely on recommendations. Maybe it was just a busy Saturday morning, but the young woman helping us didn't seem thrilled that I was taking photos and asking about the pastries. I get that most of their customers are probably regulars who already know what they want, but for those of us just passing through, a little guidance (and patience) would go a long way. Even with that experience, I'd still recommend stopping by. The pastries really are that good, the prices are fair, and it's the kind of nostalgic, old fashioned bakery that's getting harder to find these days.

You cannot find another donut with that flavor profile anywhere in the world. Trust me, I have looked. I have found amazing creme filled donuts, but nothing like the Swiss chocolate or strawberry shortcake anywhere. I don't really get anything else here. The other donuts like the glazed are a bit above average but I haven't found any other knockouts other than the ones I mentioned. If you can catch them early enough in the morning when they are baking them fresh and stuffing them you can ask them to really stuff the donuts you buy and that's the way I like them but I'm almost never there that early. Usually I'm passing through on my way to or from NC. My kids love a bunch of the other flavors of donuts and they do have a bunch. Service is usually quick and friendly. They have standard tables that are easy to clean inside and some outside seating. Parking lot is sufficient to stop and grab some donuts and eat a couple and then go.

We sampled the donut right away. If anyone remembers The Donut House in So.Chas years ago, that's what they reminded me of. They are simply delicious!! We also tried the special pepperoni roll (it contains banana peppers and a garlic butter seasoning on top). It was good, I would only suggest the ratio of pepperoni and cheese vs bread be adjusted. The majority of the filling was in the middle leaving a lot of bread on the outer portion. But the flavor is amazing!!! We are looking forward to going back and trying the strawberry crunch Molly dogs!! I hope she flourishes and people make the drive to give her a try!! The inside is nice, clean, and welcoming.

All 6 of my donuts were ice cold, like they had been refrigerated from being made last week. The filled ones had barely any filling. Although the raspberry jelly was delicious, it took me 4 bites to find any of it. All of the frosting topping that was on their cheesecake donut fell off in 3 pieces. There was also a hollow hole where there should have been cheesecake filling. Talk about unappetizing. Perhaps I was in the wrong for expecting a glazed donut off the rack, freshly coated in hot glaze. Regardless of that explanation, I was extremely disappointed and truthfully grossed out. Dunkin' Donuts has much better donuts. As you can see, most of the donuts were eaten. Not because they were good, but because my boyfriend was absolutely starving.

After we walked in, a fire truck pulled up, and the lady stopped helping the line to help the firefighters - although I had kids in the car and was in a hurry - it felt very small town, and that somehow added to the appeal. We got a dozen donuts including blueberry cake, devils food, honey dew, buttermilk, Boston cream, banana cream, cinnamon powdered sugar, strawberry cream, and some other one I can't remember the name of. They were all very tasty! The creams were generous, flavorful and a great texture and the powdered toppings were strong and packed on! My typical go-to are blueberry cake and devils food/chocolate cake, and they were just okay, but the rest were absolutely worth trying! Interestingly, they do a baker's dozen (13 not 12) but the 13th donut is chosen from a separate case with options that are different than the regular donut options and at other places would cost more like cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, specialty long johns, etc. we found that fascinating, as I tried to get one as part of my dozen and they said those are the free ones instead. I don't usually eat sugar, so trying donuts on this vacation was a big stretch for me, but these were absolutely worth it!
