I love this place. I have loved it since it used to be Mr. Donut when I was a child. I always get the same thing...Swiss Chocolate filled donuts and Strawberry Shortcake Donuts. You cannot find another donut with that flavor profile anywhere in the world. Trust me, I have looked. I have found amazing creme filled donuts, but nothing like the Swiss chocolate or strawberry shortcake anywhere. I don't really get anything else here. The other donuts like the glazed are a bit above average but I haven't found any other knockouts other than the ones I mentioned. If you can catch them early enough in the morning when they are baking them fresh and stuffing them you can ask them to really stuff the donuts you buy and that's the way I like them but I'm almost never there that early. Usually I'm passing through on my way to or from NC. My kids love a bunch of the other flavors of donuts and they do have a bunch. Service is usually quick and friendly. They have standard tables that are easy to clean inside and some outside seating. Parking lot is sufficient to stop and grab some donuts and eat a couple and then go. read more

The man that we encountered at the front was SO NICE! He was from a more northern state, but he was so incredibly kind. The donuts were fresh even though we got them in the evening, and the environment was clean. read more

This place is so good, lots of varieties of donuts to choose from. We ordered a dozen variety to give it all a try and they were all good. The clerk was patient and so friendly. I wish I remember what his name was on his hat. We ordered to go, we didn't sit inside. There was a gentleman who appeared to be sleeping in a chair in the dining room. read more

Donuts are an essential part of any road trip in my house, so when I saw Donut Connection just off 77, I knew I needed to stop in! Based on the humble exterior, I wasn't expecting much, but I was instantly charmed by the retro, homey feel of the interior. It was like stepping into a scene of a 1950s sitcom! I couldn't believe the variety of donuts: exotic flavors like honeydew, seasonal selections like pumpkin, and even decadent eclairs filled with chocolate or Bavarian crème. I instantly noticed the "Dutch crumb" donut, which is coated in coffee cake crumbs and reminiscent of my favorite, now-defunct, donut from Dunkin: Butternut. Adding to the old-school theme, Donut Connection is the only place I know that still makes donuts with handles for dipping into coffee! The donuts at Donut Connection can only be described as out-of-this-world delicious. I was blown away by the rich chocolate icing and the moist cake donut base. My mom loved her pumpkin donut cream cheese frosting, and my sister enjoyed the pink and white icing on her eclair. All of the donuts were fresh and still warm, which made our experience even better! The service was incredible--fast and friendly, perfect for a quick stop on the road. I really hope I'm in this neck of the woods again so I can stop at the Donut Connection one more time! read more

The person who helped us was amazing! But when we walked in another employee was being very rude to someone on the phone; and once they hung up continued to call the person names and berate them with another customer. read more

I regards to your comment- which I cannot post on, as the business owner, you should not have sent this out the door and offered it or you should not have charged the full price. I have called the shop FOR DAYS and no one will answer. I will go to spring street despite this being right down from my work and home. I had a bad experience last spring with you and placed an order in advance. My order was not ready and a note was left for me that you could not fill my order. I was disappointed a year ago and had to scramble and go to Krispy crème to fill my order. No one called me or let me know my order wouldn't be completely filled until I showed up. I was delivering them as a thank ylu to the hospital so my review wasn't a one time issue. Since you've taken over ownership, quality and service are terrible. Very disappointed and won't come here again. 50 years of frequenting here gone in 1 year. read more

Donuts for the customer on what I hope is my last day in Charlie West. Donut Connection is a small parking lot, but super easy to access with the layout of the offramps and the bridge. It's a little harder if you want to get back onto I64-E/I-77S. I asked for two Boston Kreme and let the girl fill in the rest. I was bummed when I got back to the office and stepped out to make coffee. When I came back, BOTH of them were gone! Argh! Six bucks for the donuts and a dollar in the tip jar. A very inexpensive way to help a local business! read more

So I go in at 7:25 am and I am third in line. When it is my turn I ask for glazed donuts, a basic staple in a donut shop. Answer, don't have any. I asked if they had them in the back. The answer was, they are in the proof box. My comment was, who doesn't have glazed donuts in a donut shop for people on the way to work? She was defensive. This makes no sense to me. I told her that this location would be a nice place for a donut shop. She didn't get it. Last time for this place. I left with nothing. Everything else looked like yesterday's stuff. In times like these, one would think that if you are lucky enough to have customers, you would take More pride in your product. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. It's right off 77 and I stop by every time I am driving through. This place is amazing. The service is incredibly friendly. The donuts are the best I've had and the coffee was just as good. The baker knew that I was coming in and set aside my favorite donut for me. It was still warm!! The owner introduced herself and was very friendly. What an incredible story this young woman has! read more

I'm a fan! Personally, I'm not sure why the ratings are so low, but I really enjoyed all 3 of the different donuts I tried from them! We stopped by on a surprisingly busy week night. It was my first time so the workers were incredibly helpful in narrowing down my options. We settled with the cronut, cruller, and chocolate glazed donut. I loved it all! I'm not gonna lie, I'm salivating just thinking about how fluffy and moist it was. The cruller was very eggy, which I loved, and the cronut was amazing! It was my first one ever and I can't wait to try more! From outside looking in, I wasn't expecting the donuts to be as good as they were. The chocolate donut was a cake donut, so if that's not your thing, make sure you ask which ones are cake donuts vs. traditional donuts! I don't like jelly or creme filled donuts so if you do/don't like those, make sure you ask about those as well! See you there soon! read more

Large variety of donuts and eclairs that are always fresh. Boston cream and chocolate filled are especially good.

Best donuts I've had in a long time. They are always super fresh and decadent and there are typically nearly 20 types to choose from daily, it seems. I don't live here but when I visit, stopping at Donut Connection is a must. The building might look old, but who cares? You are in and out in minutes. As long as there is a roof over my donuts, I'm good. Today's haul was a glazed pumpkin, toasted coconut, Bavarian cream and a peanut butter. Hell yeah read more

This is the second time that I've been to this Donut Connection location and they were closed before their posted hours of operation. Last time I was there about 10 minutes before they were supposed to close and knocked on the door wanting coffee and the girl literally poured two pots of coffee into the sink while she was telling me they were closed. This time, two customers standing outside at 1045 pm ready to spend money and we were told they were closed. Last time it said online that they closed at midnight and I let them know that. It still shows online that they close at midnight. Very poor business practice if you ask me. read more

Great place and definitely one of the places I think of when I think of Kanawha City! I even choose Donut Connection over Krispy Kreme! read more

Stopped in for coffee around 7pm tonight and encountered the rudest man. Seemed disgusted that we added on a couple more coffees to our order. Actually put his hands out to his sides and said, "anything else?" like we were an inconvenience. 2 stars are for the coffee only. Would never come back in the evening again. read more

Over the course of 3 months, I have discovered that the time of day nor day of week makes a difference to my conclusion that 97.8% of all their baked goods were originally made sometime in the year 2014. Seriously. How does a donut shop not even smell like baked goods?? The reason is everything is old, dry, and stale. The only saving grace are the muffins. They're probably just as old and dusty as everything else but they're wrapped in plastic wrap so that helps. read more
