We got take out from them. We are not familiar with Charleston, so used our GPS to navigate. IMHO, the building is poorly marked. In fact we thought Googlina had erred. My husband had a small salad which he enjoyed. The small salad was more than enough. I had the steak sandwich. I wasn't too sure about the horseradish crema and would've preferred to have it on the side. Since we ordered on line, that wasn't an option. I got the balsalmic reduction instead. Found Pies & Pints while I was in town for a work trip, and I'm glad I did. With limited food options in the area, this place was a solid find. The restaurant has a hip, relaxed vibe and definitely gets busy around dinnertime. The service was good and the servers were helpful. This place needs no more reviews (over 1k, what!!) but I'm here sharing anyway. It's obviously the place to be in downtown Charleston and has the best block, clearly. While the pizza was good, I think people line up just because it's the prime spot and there's a line. Surprisingly big inside, but narrow. We had a table in the back room at first and it was SO loud, like an echo chamber. There was a party of like 15 super loud people so we asked if we could wait for a table in a quieter spot. Then another table asked to move who was already eating. The second spot was great and the manager even came over to apologize. Not their fault but surely nice of them. Ordered two kid pizzas and two 10" pizzas. Pineapple kids and pesto (instead of tomato sauce) for the other kid pizza. Got the hot honey chicken and black bean for the 10" specialty pizzas. We only waited about 5-7 minutes before being seated. I started with the Simple Salad, which turned out to be anything but basic. A vibrant mix of greens, red cabbage, red onions, and cherry tomatoes made for a fresh, crisp start to the meal. The house-made croutons added just the right crunch, and the vinaigrette struck a perfect balance--tangy without overpowering the vegetables. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the pizza. We ordered a 16" pie, half Pepperoni and half Mushroom & Garlic. The Pepperoni side was classic, crispy, and satisfying. But the Mushroom & Garlic side? A total game changer. Feta cheese, both roasted and fresh garlic, caramelized onions, and fresh herbs came together in a savory, flavor-packed symphony. If you're into bold, layered flavors, this one's for you. That said, the pizza wasn't without its flaws. My husband noted it lacked that signature fresh-out-of-the-oven cheese stretch--something you expect (and crave) from a piping hot pizza. We also noticed a section of the pie was missing toppings altogether, which left us wondering where all those delicious ingredients disappeared to. Consistency matters, and that part definitely missed the mark. The food hit all the right spots overall, but the service felt like it was running on "relaxed" time. It wasn't a major issue, but when you're hungry and looking forward to a hot pizza--especially with kids in tow--a quicker turnaround would've been appreciated. We came here on a Saturday for lunch and were seated moderately fast. The server was so nice and helpful. We ordered the Cuban Pork and the Italian. The Cuban Pork wasn't my favorite and I think it's because there was so much going on and I don't really know I felt about the flavors together. The pineapple did balance with the jalapeños (sweet and spicy). The pork was good and cooked well also and tasted well alongside the feta and creme fraiche. The Italian was my favorite. The salami, pepperoni, and capicola tasted great and I loved the balance of the banana peppers against the house vinaigrette and aioli. We told the hostess we had pickup, she said talk to the bar. Which had a bunch of people sitting there. I asked "do I go to the side or step in between people?". She ignored me. So I said the same question louder and closer to her. She looked up at me annoyed and said "that would be best". Sorry I inconvenienced her from doing nothing but staring into space. The pizza was meh. Crust hard as a rock, flavor not great. We used Yelp to choose this spot on or trip...apparently we don't agree with the average of the 1000 reviews. This is my 400th review on Yelp and I wanted to celebrate this milestone writing about one of my all time favorite places. The pizza here is super legit, it will be some of the best pizza you've ever tried...if you follow one simple rule: Get a speciality pizza. If you get pepperoni, cheese, a supreme or any other boring pizza you'd find at any other pizza joint you will have missed some of the best pizza on this earth. I almost always get a large pizza, half grape gorgonzola and half steak and mushroom. Their monthly or seasonal special is usually pretty exceptional as well. I sent a friend here and he got a smoked chicken wing pizza and said it was so good he had to eat the entire pie that day. I took a bunch of anger boomers from my Harley owners group and they even loved this place despite not having a $5.99 senior special! They also have really good gluten-free pizza. We tried the Mexican Street corn on gluten-free bread and it was the best tasting gluten free pizza crust I've ever had in my life. The salads here are so big they are easy to share with 2-3 people. One of my favorite things about this place is that it started in Fayetteville, WV. I believe they've since sold out to a venture capitalist group that has been expanding them as a small chain. I lived in Ohio and I can say that the ones up there were not as good. The northern yankee customer service is far from the southern hospitality you get at the WV locations. I love that their slogan is, "Craft pizza and beer" when they sell craft beer. Pizza is definitely their craft. They also have hosted releases of rare beers which I think is really cool. Parking is on the street, you might need to walk a couple blocks. The location is small so if you come during the Friday Saturday evening rushes or lunch you might have to wait to get a spot. They are good at seating groups, sometimes you might have a couple adjacent tables but they keep you close together as best they can. The atmosphere is casual and pretty chill. When I go to a pizza place, there Is one thing I do to test the quality, and it's how they do their Margherita pizza, and I must say that not only did they pass this time but they passed with flying colors. That and gluten free pizza options for my mom (which she has been dying for), and the food was amazing Walker was an extremely helpful dude, he's earned my respect. The three stars come in on the wings, when they say CHAR-GRILLED HOT WINGS they mean it, the outside is charred black and tasted burnt. Asked the waitress if these are always like this, she said yes. I should have sent them back but. Ok l personally did not like them, others in the party said the same. Burnt. Once the charring was picked off, they were ok, never going to order them again. Sorry Pies and Pints your wings in our opinion are just way over Charred and the skin is underdone. Inside meat was moist but the garlic? Were is that flavor, only heat, garlic , burnt off? Wow what a nice place to find in downtown Charleston! I suppose if you live here you already know about this place but I'm not from here so.... They have many many beers and ciders and ales available to try. If you aren't sure what one is like you can ask and the staff is happy to tell you about it, or if they don't know they will have find out for you. We had a Samuel Smith Organic Cider and an Organic Perry. Both were very good, the organic being darker and "chewier" but the Perry was quite light and crisp. Pizzas were all very good, and if you are at all worried after reading the description of the street corn dear not - it's pretty damn good. read more

I really enjoyed my food from Pies and Pints. I had the Garlic Bread with Cheese, the Italian Hero sandwich and the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Terrine. I really, really enjoyed this food. I scheduled the order on DoorDash so it would be ready and delivered around the time I would get back from my internship. The food was so hot and fresh even though the Dasher had two stops before making it to mine. The sandwich was amazing with the hot peppers on it. The cheesy garlic bread has some chew to it, but the flavor was very good. The Chocolate and Peanut Butter Terrine was incredibly rich and full of texture and flavor. I was with three friends and we decided to try this place. We couldn't make any decisions so we got two large pies. With four different halves. We had mushroom on one half. Thai shrimp on the second half. Then pulled pork on a half with Italian mix on that second half. Holy cow I was able to get two slices in. The mushroom & Thai. They were delicious. Though I can't lie. The Thai was my favorite. The waitress was great, with a wonderful sense of humor. The place is like warehouse casual. We laughed, enjoyed the company and food and wiped out almost all the food. We took the leftovers as it was too good to leave behind. Amazingly we had no tomato sauce in any of them. First time customers. We were in town for an evening before heading to Summit Bechtel and our scouting high adventure trip. It was a super busy weekend but considering we had nine people to seat we were impressed how quickly we were seated (under an hour). Grace was our server and was absolutely wonderful!! Pleasant and super attentive to our table checking on us frequently on a very busy night. Jessica the manager was also super helpful with our table and many others. Onto the food. Salad with gorgonzola. Amazing. Got a couple orders of garlic bread. One with cheese and one without. For pizzas we split two large. So essentially four pizzas we could all mow down. The sauce is unique and really good. Crust was amazing. It's a small and unique place in ways but the staff are amazing and the restaurant itself is neat and well kept. Any time we are traveling we like to try restaurants along the way. We enjoyed pies & pints. They had great beer choices and delicious hot pizza. The only tricky part was parking. Service was quick. We enjoyed a Greek salad and a lItalian pizza. Three of us shared and we still had leftovers. A previous review mentioned "to-go" style service. That was not our experience. Please see their review. When we came back, we sat down next to the oven. Our waitress took a bit to come over as the place was still slammed. She then brought our waters and we got the wings. We then asked her preference on pizzas and then went 50/50 with the margarita pizza and peppadew pizza. The wings were delicious. Expensive though for 8 wings was 14 bucks. The Gorgonzola dipping sauce was great. We then got our pizza. The margarita came out soft on the bottom and the peppadew came out alright. The waitress however, seeing how we weren't happy offered to get us an entire small pizza of the margarita to make up for the soft portion. The second time it came out right. They also were one of the top rated pizzerias in town. We were quite happy with all the specialty (unique) pizzas, particularly the wide variety of vegetarian offerings. We tried their special of the day, heirloom tomato, and, a Mexican street corn type pizza. I thought both were excellent.
