Mea Cuppa is inside the Capital Market which is thankfully pretty easy to get around even when busy like it was when we got here. This is fantastic find when driving through Charleston. We had no idea we would end up at the city market, but the location is perfects is isn't even a minute off of 64/77 and right in downtown. It's a great stop because you have to get out, so you get to move your legs and use the bathroom, plus bonus with all the other great vendors to get a meal or snacks. It's the perfect rest stop, but better then your normal rest stop, way way better, not even a competition. Mea cuppa coffeebar had great season lattes and anything else you'd want, pour overs, snacks and the flavor is ooooo so good. There are places to grab a chair and relax and take in the beautiful setting of the capitol market. So, you've got everything you need. Such a nice little coffee shop nestled inside Charleston's Capitol Market! We liked it so much we actually came twice! The americano I ordered was just what I needed on a caffeine deprived day. I also really liked the tea drink my partner got: the mayflower which is a black tea with elderflower and lavender! So good! All their tea drinks sounded good and a creative mix of flavors. I had an iced latte the second time and it was so refreshing. Customer service was also really friendly and welcoming. read more

Found this place while driving from D.C. to Kentucky. Easy to find off the interstate, and situated in a charming community market. Wasn't sure what to expect -- I never expect too much, but those expectations were exceeded. I ordered the house coffee; it was fresh and well-brewed. My wife got a cappuccino -- 8 ounces, well-made and delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a substantial selection of top roasters (Intelligentsia, PT's, Klatch). Most of the bags were 3-4 weeks off roast, which is pushing it in my opinion, but still surely one of the best selections I've seen in such a small operation. I own a thriving cafe in a midsize town, so I know how difficult it can be to offer consistent, high-quality coffee in areas that aren't quite used to it. These folks are the real deal -- friendly, unpretentious, yet absolutely quality-focused and well above average. read more

Cute little coffee stop in Capitol Market. Interesting speciality lattes. I went for an iced chai latte, and it was just a bit sweet, nice and spicy, and just the right mix of milk and tea. Prices are ok. (We'd all like our fancy coffees to be cheaper, right?) I would definitely grab something here again when shopping in the market, and maybe try one of those unique flavored lattes. I got a regular sized cold brew with oat milk and lavender syrup. It was $4. It was good, nothing that amazed me but I'd say it's comparable to Starbucks or dunkin. The Lavender was nice and subtle but the oat milk could of been creamer, not sure what brand they used. The workers were nice from what I could tell. There's a few tables and a bar. There's probably about 20 coffee items and the baked goods cabinet was full of tasty looking muffins and scones. I didn't try the baked goods but I would like to. Presentation is nice and minimal. They use plastic cups but paper straws so that's a little confusing. Other than that I'd say give it a try. read more

Full disclosure, I work here. In fact, I've worked at a few places both in and out of state, all in coffee, all in various positions. So when I tell you that Mea Cuppa is probably the best coffee shop in West Virginia, I mean it. I only say probably because I haven't been to every shop yet, but I can assure those reading this that it truly does take the cake. We are held to high customer service standards, for starters. We all started our coffee journeys not knowing the difference between a cappuccino and a latte, so we aren't going to disparage anyone for asking. The coffee is beyond great. We make sure to make the highest quality beverages, every time. If we make a mistake, we remake the drink. Mea Cuppa is a multi-roast carrier, which means we pick and choose the best coffees from multiple roasters, to ensure there's always something new and delicious for you to try! Mea Cuppa has moved up a position to become my favorite coffee shop in Charleston, beating long-time favorite Moxxee. The bean selection and variety is simply the best. The brewing processes available - drip, press, and pour over - ensures coffee will always be available, unlike Mox, where the Steampunk is often on the fritz. They used Kroger Creamer and did not give me the option to fix the coffee my way they tried to do it their self and it qas terrible. As a tourist, I use Yelp reviews to find great coffee shop. I should have started with Mea Cuppa when I was in Charleston. I would not have bothered with others. Clue #1 The menu list is limited. That is a good thing. It means their coffee is excellent and doesn't need to be disguised. Clue #2 Baristas cheerily interacted with other customers. This means when I ask them details about their beans or special coffee drinks, they are happy to answer. The barista was also honest about the pastries they had left for the day. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy great coffee. I tried their refreshing tonic brew with bitters. Excellent! They follow COVID-19 guidelines. read more

It was my first time at the Capitol Market- I was visiting my boyfriend working. I wanted to buy him a coffee as a pick me up and I ran into Mea Cuppa. I bought 3 different flavored lattes (one for me, him, and his co-worker). When I went to pay, their credit card machine was not working and I was $2 in cash short. The owner (?) was SO kind to me, he just took $2 off and even proceeded to give me the CHANGE. While I was waiting for my drinks to be ready, I told the barista that I would be walking around just because I had never been to the market and wanted to see all the shops. I was making my way back, distracted on my phone, when the barista walked up to me with my 3 drinks. So not only were the DELICIOUS, seriously so good!!.....BUT their service was OUTSTANDING. I was so impressed and I can't wait to be back! There is limited seating inside but plenty outside, especially since the weather was so nice I was happy to sit outside with the Capitol Market wifi (no password and fairly strong signal, yay). Excellent coffee shop with great selection. Not tied down to any particular roaster which is great. I'm tired of going to shops that exlcusively use intellegentia, kickapoo, bow truss etc... This place has all sorts from different roasters. They'll whip up a pour over for you on anything they offer. The pour over was extracted close to perfect. Nice balanced cup that pulled a few sour notes after cooling off (which is to be expected). I did not have any espresso based drinks but the staff seems very competent and practices latte art. Typically if they take the time to do some sort of art on the cup, they seem to care about their coffee. I was at Moxx yesterday, and this place has it beat, hands down. Do yourself a favor and drop in. Only criticism I would have is that seating is limited and the chairs aren't really comfortable because it is in a local market which means they are at the mercy of the market's choice on seating. read more

Mea Cuppa has the most diverse selection of third wave/specialty coffee beans that I found in Charleston. This little kiosk located in the Capitol Market brews top tier roasters like PT's (Kansas), Intelligentsia (Chicago), JBC coffee roasters (Wisconsin), Zoka (Seattle) and others on a rotating basis. What I love about this shop is that any of their beans for sale are available for drink purchase as well. Just grab a bag and if they don't already have that selection of beans opened up, the barista will open the new bag and prepare a pourover coffee for you. It is very rare for a shop to do that, and I appreciate the customer service on that! The days I visited, Intelligentsia was the espresso on offer. Depending on the barista, the drinks tasted better on some days than others, however, all were at minimum decent tasting while one drink crafted by one particular barista I ordered from on my last visit tasted amazing, as good as the drinks I've had at the actual Intelligentsia company-owned coffee shops in Chicago. Mea Cuppa is one of the few shops that consistently open early in Charleston, and there's also free WIFI available through the shared market WIFI. Service was very friendly and this little kiosk is one of the 2 shops I'd recommend in the area. Worth return visits. read more

Amazing coffee. I don't get to go there very often, but when I do, it's really a treat. The monthly special drinks are always creative and fun, but the regular brews are on point. Also, I don't know what kind of chai they serve, but it's my favorite chai mix in town. The only downside is that they can be really slow when they're busy, but it's worth it because you know you're getting a cuppa made just for you. read more
