A friend recommended this place. She said their gelato was very good. I was in the area and thought I would give it a try. The shop is an absolutely adorable little building. There is a parking lot to the side but it's small. Thankfully they have spots on the street where you can park as well. There isn't a lot of room inside, so I'm sure it could get quite crowded on weekends and busy days. They sell drinks & snacks as well, but I was only there for the gelato. I saw the people ahead of me go toward the back and when I was paying, I could see they had a little seating area back there. I didn't go back there though so unsure what it looked like. They had 16 flavors of gelato to choose from and from what I've heard, they change flavors a lot. Unsure if it's daily or weekly, but what my friend recommended to me was not even an option. They do let you try a sample of the different flavors, so that is appreciated. I ended up choosing the cheesecake, butter pecan, and the blueberries & cream. The blueberries and cream was scrumptious. The other two were good, but I wish I had gotten all of that flavor. I would definitely return in the future when I am wanting something tasty and sweet. read more

If you want to try an amazing gelato place I would recommend you to come to Cafe Romeo. Back in December, I was looking for a quick ice cream place to stop at and everything was closed due to the holidays. We found Cafe Romeo from maps and was sad to find out it was closed but after the holidays I was determined to try Cafe Romeo. Finally, tonight my family and I were able to stop in before dinner. There was an assortment of wonderful sounding flavors but I stuck with what I thought I would like based off my favorite desserts. I went with my favorite desserts and got a small size gelato (two flavors) which were Tiramisu and Cannoli. I am so glad I did, as they were so delicious! The super friendly owner allowed me to try the flavors before I purchased them. The owner was so friendly and helpful! Asking an assortment of questions that lightened the mood and made the atmosphere so comfortable and refreshing. I can't wait to stop back in and try all of the flavors. The prices are very well for what you are getting. The small size you get two flavors, the medium you get three flavors, and the large size you get four flavors. Apparently Bridge Road is the hidden gem of Charleston. Yet again, another place up here has captured my attention. Cafe Romeo is absolutely great! Gelato made by an Italian guy in the basement of the place! Comfortable seating, great atmosphere! Smooth! That's the best thing about this Italian treat! Silky smooth, cold, and refreshing! Can't wait to bring the kids. Along with cool treats though, there's coffee as well! The expresso was great! What a fun place! The owner, Mario, was so welcoming and warm and very enthusiastic about our first visit to his shop! I enjoy fruity flavors during the summer months because they are refreshing. I was not disappointed! The pink grapefruit sorbet was soooooo good. Was worried it might be too tart but it was so refreshing. I also tried the banana flavor gelato and it was equally delicious! My husband had the dark chocolate gelato and was very pleased with the flavor. A nice seating area in the back portion of the shop allows you to take your time and fully experience the ambiance; very much like an adult treehouse. Authentic Italian gelato in the middle of West Virginia! Apparently the owner is directly from Italy and makes the gelato himself. They have a wide rotating, variety of flavors made from natural ingredients. The toasted marshmallow is made with actual marshmallows! There is an ample amount of seating in the front and back patio. This is the perfect little Italian gelato and espresso shop. I have found a perfect gem on Yelp. Looking for a coffee shop to finish off a day of shopping with my husband. The gelato was delicious, I had two flavors, pumpkin and whiskey. Both were so smooth and full flavor. My husband had watermelon sorbet. Talk about the ultimate foodie find in the back hills of WV!!! I was with a big group of friends doing some volunteer work over the weekend and we needed to take a break. Of course we all want coffee so I pulled up the trusty Yelp app and Caffe Romeo popped up. Nestled on a neighborhood street, it defiantly stands out! While parking might not seem ample, indoor seating definitely is. We were told the the owner is from Italy and had the goal of planting a bit of roots in WV. With menu choices like frozen milk and gelato for days, there's something for everyone to enjoy. We all ordered coffee and gelato. Note: several of the flavors contained food dyes which y'all know I have a serious allergen of. The gelato was absolutely amazing. Seriously some of the best I've had. Coffee was the bomb.com as well. Customer service was on top and the gal working reached out to the owner several times to get a list of gelato flavors without dyes - and to double check the ones I wanted to try first so I didn't get sick. Usually I won't even order something at a place that uses dyes but she took special care to avoid contamination. And for that, I present I warmly rate this spot 5 stars. I'm seriously so over the moon that a place like this exist in Charleston and that I finally discovered it! They have a huge variety of different gelato flavors. I remember seeing a pic of tiramisu in someone's photo and was letdown when I saw that they didn't have it that day. I mentioned it to the sweet lady and she went downstairs just to get me some! If you don't see a flavor, don't be too afraid to ask! They'll be more than happy to get it for you if they have it. All fruit flavors are sorbets. So delicious! One of their best sellers is Cookies n Cream and I definitely see why! It's banging with flavor. The cookie is perfectly grinded to blend in with the creamy consistency of the gelato. Tiramisu was what I imagined it to be. Perfect mixture of coffee & chocolate flavors. Not one overpowering the other. They have small, medium & large. They're about a dollar difference each. Each cup comes with 3-4 (depending on the size you choose) scoops and complimentary waffle cookie & mini cone. My daughter LOVED the mini cone. We would put small spoonful of gelato in there and it definitely made her feel special to have her "own" treat. She loved it so much that we asked to buy another one and she kept insisting that we just take it on the house. They have GREAT goodies and wonderful service! read more

My girlfriend and I stopped in today for some gelato. She had never had it before, and I just couldn't continue to date her with that type of negativity. There were about 3-4 parking spaces beside this converted home to business, but ample parking roadside across from it. It is located in a cute house, and when you open the door you are created with the smell of fresh coffee and espresso, as well as the sight of around 10 delicious gelatos. After a quick tasting, I decided on the whiskey cream, and she jumped blindly into a cheesecake flavored gelato. We both got a medium cup, that was topped with a pizelle and a little baby mini cone. The whiskey cream was phenomenal; it had all the soft notes of a whiskey, including the vanilla that is often lost when cooking with it. The cheesecake was very good too. Not too cream cheesey, not too sweet. I also picked up an americano. This, sadly was the low point. While you could tell the grind of the coffee and espresso were fresh, and the beans were of good quality, there was a metallic taste to it that is typically found in coffee that has been brewed too hot. It's was still very drinkable, but I know they can do better. The server/cashier made up for any downfalls with a chipper attitude, and a complete willingness to help. The service is personal, the coffee (Levazza) is delicious, the gelato and desserts are authentically Italian. Try the cornetti and gelato!
