Planning our trip to Charleston and reading hotel reviews, I decided to go with a B&B. The house was just beautiful with amazing wood work and stained glass windows. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was exquisite. I must say it was the best waffle I've ever eaten.

    The English Gentleman's Room

Just departed after a 2-night stay at this lovely establishment. Lisa's hospitality and cooking were excellent. Breakfast on both days was superb. We stayed in the English Gentleman room which was very comfy. We would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect for running and sightseeing on foot. For runners, you've got mileage and miles of flat, scenic running along the Kanawha.

Love this place! It's so charming and has really unique touches and decoration. The stained glass is gorgeous and I love the fancy tea station with classic tea cups.

    Breakfast as I requested.

Breakfast made as I requested the night before and tastes amazing. Great night of stay. Great Service. Brought two little dogs and stayed comfortably. Definitely pet friendly.

Waiting while I used free Wi Fi

Mae West famously said "Too much of a good thing can be WONDERFUL!" My stay here was so good that almost describes it! Innkeeper and chef Lisa couldn't be more accommodating and cordial, and my room (the designated pet-friendly one on the first floor) was most comfortable and convenient. I needed a little more workspace so she happily removed some of the extra pillows, blankets and such, and there was floor room for two small dog beds and dishes. Call them directly if you need pet accommodations just to be sure their situation will work for you at the time of your visit. All the other guest rooms are upstairs one or two flights, and the historic property doesn't have a lift, just FYI. But they are beautiful and so comfortable, with private baths, lux towels and even ironed sheets. The common areas are decorated with vintage furniture and objects, and there's usually a specially baked snack and coffee on offer just about any time. And that amazing Breakfast ... I'm not usually a breakfast person, but this is so good I didn't skip a one! Most is locally sourced or organic, and is prepared especially for you to accommodate your preferences, not on a buffet or steam table. I was there for almost a week, and was actually sorry to have to go back to NYC. Lots of other guests came through while I was there and everyone seemed delighted with their visit. All varieties of couples and families are welcome. Lisa and Greg have installed a new high volume filtered air system as part of their Covid protocol, and ask that guests observe whatever mask requirement the State of WV might have in place at the time. The house has private parking and is on a charming historic street, but just a couple of blocks from the main Charleston Interstate exit. There are plenty of dinner options nearby and you will get a list and recommendations from your hosts.

The Brass Pineapple B&B Inn is a wonderful gem in the heart of West Virginia's Capitol city. Lisa and Greg have taken great care to ensure a warm welcome, delicious meals from local farmers, and a beautiful decor. Located just a few blocks from the Capitol, the scenery is unmatched. Lisa is the main point of contact and excited to make your Charleston stay memorable. The city itself is a bit difficult to find what to do and where to eat, it is a small town in every sense. I spent most of my stay in the B&B relaxing and taking in the history.

Right down the street is the State Capitol Building. We had a lovely walk around the neighborhood and along the river.

Bad: Lighting in bathroom was fit for a romantic evening not for knowing if your hands are clean or your makeup looks good. Any hotel room with two beds and a sofa bed - so can sleep 6 - should have two sinks! Only one here. The main problem is the elevator situation. This is an 8-floor hotel with approx 250 rooms and there are 3 elevators. And one wasn't working. So even with all three working properly, this is a huge pain. This isn't new. I was in the same hotel 6 years ago. Same elevator situation. I waited for 12 minutes to get on an elevator today and as we descended we stopped at every single floor - they were all waiting too - and of course no one from floor 3 to floor 6 could get in as it was already full from all the people on floors 7 and 8. Absolutely ridiculous to have such a situation. Should have been addressed years ago. Yes, there are steps. But not w luggage and kids.

When I called the front desk, I was told there was nobody available to re-clean the room, so they moved us to another suite. The second room had a clean toilet, but there was a paper-thin connecting door to the neighborings suite and we could hear absolutely everything the neighbors were saying. It felt like they were in the same room with us. The carpet looked like it had never been properly cleaned -- it was sticky and visibly dirty, with candy wrappers, hair, food debris, stains, and even what looked like someone's cut toenails on the floor. The doors and surfaces were sticky and oily with visible fingerprints and grime everywhere. The bathroom mirror clearly had not been cleaned either, with visible toothpaste splatter and stains from previous guests. The only thing that appeared reasonably clean was the bedding, but even the bed frame/base had multiple stains, and the chair in the room was so heavily stained it looked disgusting. To make things worse, at 5 AM the upstairs neighbor turned on their bathtub, and the plumbing noise sounded like it was happening directly inside our bedroom. Very disappointing experience, especially for an Embassy Suites.

Currently (July 2018), there is construction going on in a lot beside the hotel. I assume that more businesses will be built so that the hotel will not be the only business up on this hill. We were only in the area for one night, so I cannot speak to the evening social. I'm sure it was some kind of fabulous for someone that partook in it. Anyway, my hotel room was decent and clean. I have no complaints. I've stayed in crappier establishments. My room was a one bedroom that included a kitchen. The next morning, my coworker and I decided to eat breakfast at the hotel. It saves time when you have a 5 hour drive ahead of you. That morning, they were serving scrambled eggs, pork and turkey sausage, and all of the other usuals (pastries, oatmeal, waffles, bagels and bread). I ate oatmeal, a small pastry and had some eggs. It wasn't the best, only fuel for the morning. You cannot expect much from a hotel buffet. If we had to work in the area again, we may choose this hotel. It was decent and we experienced no issues during our short stay.

The lobby and halls and elevators are extremely smelly. I like hotels that have unique layouts, even if they're older... and it's great how it's off the beaten path, and has a nice view of the city... but not at the cost of disgusting smells, and not cleaning the room sufficiently. Ew.

Our family arrived after 10 PM and was very tired from an afternoon and evening on the road. Staff was exceptional on getting us quickly checked in so we could get to the room and bed down in preparation for a 545 AM departure. My son needed a tooth brush and they accommodated at the front desk during check in. The room key opened without a hitch. An immediate odor struck us all upon entering. It was not foul, but WOW! The odor was a thick musty smell. With it now pushing 1030 we dealt with it. The room was adequate, but dated and was commiserate with the price range of the room. Everything was clean in our double including sheets. The mattress and pillows passable. The plumbing worked fine, but the air seems to struggle during our mid August visit. They offered a FREE breakfast however we left prior to it being available. Our van was loaded loaded with everything for moving my son into college and there was no issue with security thankfully. This was huge! So the final score as previously stated is a 2.5 and I'm rounding up with super friendly desk staff and secure parking lot. The big negative is the musty room. It's impossible for me to know if this issue runs throughout the hotel. I would not return.

I found this hotel on hotels.com and decided to book it after completing a 50 mile race in nearby Kentucky. I had a king sized bed and it was definitely worth the price, especially after the 50 mile endurance run. Fast forward to arrival when a friend of mine dropped me off at the hotel around 11am on a Sunday. I asked the front desk to see if there was super early check in and I was informed, nothing until 3pm, which was the normal time. And so, I was unlucky to have to wait for 5 hours to check myself in and my body wasn't the best shape to be a tourist. I spent about 3 hours in the lobby being lazy before identifying a lunch spot nearby. After returning to the Quality Inn, I finally got to check myself in and had lunch in my room. Being that I had an early wake up call the next morning, I slept at 7:30pm and woke up at 2:45am to be ready for a 6am flight out of CRW regional airport. The service was good at the front desk - both checking in and check out. There was someone at the front desk at 4am, which was cool. The Quality Inn hotel brand is a nice place to enjoy. It is budget friendly and also basic hotel brand for anybody way to come here to stay while in the city of Charleston, West Virginia. This place has the basics, theme rooms, and good Wi-Fi. The TV worked pretty well and had decent channels, but I decided to use the Wi-Fi for on my phone during my stay. The over experience here at this quality Inn hotel in downtown Charleston, West Virginia was satisfactory and comfortable. It has everything that you could want in a basic hotel format. I received a Comfortable bed and a safe environment to chill and relax. It was definitely a nice choice for me to stay in downtown Charleston versus the outskirts of the city. While I didn't use most of the hotel amenities during my stay, like the swimming pool or the fitness center, or even the hotel free breakfast, it was a nice place to stay. The room itself was clean and quiet. I got myself a king bed and it was definitely comfortable for me. While I wished that I didn't book an early flight out of Charleston that morning, I was grateful that the 2025 government shutdown didn't interfere with my travel plans that weekend. For the most part though, it was a good stay here at the Quality Inn - Civic center, downtown Charleston. It's in walking distance to many places and along several bus routes if you know where you are going in town. If you find yourself in Charleston, West Virginia and need a nice place to stay, consider coming to this Quality Inn in downtown district. It's closer to the airport than the other hotels in SE Charleston. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a nice hotel to stay in while watching your budget. This Quality Inn hotel is located in the downtown district of Charleston, West Virginia. It's physically located at 1010 Washington Street E, near the Civic center. Like many hotels in the industry, they accept bookings directly online or thru various third parties, mainly through online bookings and credit cards. You could always walk up and see if they have availability and use credit cards at the property as well. As far as parking goes, they do have a limited number of parking spaces for customers and guests. I was dropped off here and left in an uber the next morning. There is public transport available in the city of Charleston so to get from the airport to downtown Charleston is pretty easy. Just google map the route you need to get to the hotel and you'll be good to go. As always, there's uber and Lyfts to help you get to and from your hotel quickly and easily without much effort and hassle. It's at a nice location and it was worth it. Consider staying here on your next trip to Charleston West Virginia. 4.5 stars for the overall experience Support local! B+
