Was about to make coffee

Oh. Where to start. I aways try to do a positive spin first but unfortunately there is no positives to report. Oh wait the desk guy was super nice and very helpful but beyond that everything else was a disaster. First of all, We got in the elevator to go to the second floor and the elevator went nowhere, we open the elevator door and got out, however the desk clerk assured us that sometimes it's "just very slow." Nope. Not playing. Walked up the stairs. This is a very old hotel and it shows, old I can do - but dirty ... in times of COVID ... I just can't but we had to. Unfortunately, it was snowing and late and choices were limited. I requested extra pillow cases and sheets so I could assure myself I could sleep a little safer. This could be a little gem but it is a lump of coal. Highly disappointed in lack of cleanliness. A picture says a thousand words what more can I add ... my friend's room had what looked like blood splatter on her bathroom ceiling, the walls are peeling, the toilet's are odd and the sheets were not clean, there is no reason for not clean. I will add that the desk clerk on check-out was also amazing sunny and cheerful. The staff seem to making the best of a "situation" and to be fair, once I laid down the extra sheets the bed was surprisingly comfortable. Otherwise, keep driving or pick something else. I was so disappointed.

I do not enjoy writing bad reviews, but I feel it's my duty to warn people about this hotel. I wanted a hotel in the heart of the city so I could walk everywhere from it. I was also on a mid range budget. So I thought this hotel fit what I was looking for. Wrong! Let's start by the location, it's not in the heart of the city but more on the edge of the downtown area. The area felt sketchy and was very dirty. Then let's talk about the price range. I paid over $100 for this room, when in better areas and cities I've paid about the same for a Hampton Inn, which is far superior. As soon as we parked, the parking lot was dirty, so was the lobby, the staircase, and the elevator. The hotel was stinky, kind of a musty old smell. They hallway to our room was also very stinky and the carpet was filthy and stained. The check in was a little slow, but the two persons behind the desk seemed pleasant. Our room, 401, also felt dirty, specially with the stained carpet. It also had a smell, thankfully not as bad as the hallway smell. We were welcomed into our room by a running toilet. My husband, who is very handy, try to fix it, with no luck. We called the front desk, and immediately they sent two very nice maintenance guys. They also couldn't fix it. They mentioned that they have the same problem in the other rooms, as the system is so old you cannot find parts to repair it. To add to the inconveniences, our shower didn't drain well and the WiFi didn't work, we had to use our cellular network and hotspot. As the hotel was so dirty, before we went to sleep, we decided to skip the complimentary breakfast. Now we went to sleep, and thankfully, the beds were comfortable, and the AC could be set cold enough, although it was very loud. At 5 AM we were awakened by a fire alarm. Everybody had to get out of the hotel utilizing the stairs, which weren't a problem for us, but it was very hard for a lot of elderly people. The fire department came and five minutes later told us to go in, that everything was OK. Now we tried to go back to sleep, just to be awakened by housekeeping at 9 AM, since our room did not have a "do not disturb" door sign. When we checked out we asked the two girls at the front desk what had triggered the fire alarm and both girls told us that it was the new equipment in the exercise room, without asking us how our stay was, nor apologizing. There is no Quality in this Inn!

ROACHES! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! we were moved to another room after having a hell of a day at the hospital because my boyfriend was flown out for emergency surgery all we wanted to do was relax and there were roaches crawling on our table!! i have a full video but you can't post videos on this.

Nice colors in room

Had a very nice stay here. The location was perfect - the offramp from 64/77 leads you right to the hotel, in about 30 seconds. And though I didn't get to spend much time there, the historic center of downtown is only two blocks away, so I'll definitely be staying here when I return for a longer visit. I arrived after midnight, and was pleased that not only did the door open right up for me, but the clerk was waiting at the front desk, and very friendly and efficient. Checking in was super quick, such a relief when you're ready for bed. And the elevator right by the entrance makes so much sense, and makes it that much easier to load in for the night. Free parking, to. The room was quite spacious and well-appointed, with a nice color scheme. All very clean, and with a higher ceiling than most hotels which added to the feeling of comfort. Nice big fridge, too, twice the size of the typical fridge. Very quiet night, not a sound from inside or out, I slept great. I asked about breakfast, and was happy to hear it was served from 6 to 10. Often I've missed a hotel breakfast either because I'm no earlybird and it ends at 9, or because I have to jet and it doesn't start until 8. In either event, I thought this was quite generous. Breakfast was a nice spread, with eggs, sausage and biscuits, as well as a good selection of cereals and breads. All very fresh, with attentive servers keeping it stocked. Checkout was also easy, with a very pleasant and efficient employee at the front desk. All in all, a really great stay.

I didn't get close enough to inspect but it looks like some sticky mess.

I wish I could leave negative stars. We had tried another hotel and there were no rooms. So we ended up here. I would have rather stayed in the car freezing in the snow. The elevator "sometimes takes a while" according to the front desk clerk. HE WAS VERY NICE. The rooms that I stayed in and my friend stayed in were horrible. See pictures.... they are worth a 1000 words, and then some.

When checking in, the man working the front desk was very nice, but that was the only decent part about this place. The lobby was smelly and muggy, the hallway to our room was visibly filthy, and our room was the most disgusting hotel room I've ever stayed in. Again, the room was muggy and a had a very musty odor. Window sills had cigarette ash, bugs, and spider webs covering them. Many spiders and bugs could be seen hanging from the ceiling/corner of the walls. I thought the dead cockroach on the carpet was gross enough, until I realized that I'd also be killing live cockroaches that crawled out from under the bed. Bedside tables had obviously not been wiped down, bathroom was disgusting, walls have clearly never been wiped down. Basically, do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else.

Definitely an unclean room upon walking in. This is what we found on the nightstand.

I wish I could pick a negative amount of stars for this awful property. We would've been better off camping out. It is under construction and the staff is not only rude, but are unwilling to even give you an extra pillow or stock coffee when your room is stripped of basic essentials. Upon check-in, our room looked as if someone had already been in there with a half empty soda bottle in a used bathroom, unplugged refrigerator etc. They did move us to a new room, but were unapologetic and the new room had a leaky air conditioner and plastic over the window. During this time of Covid when everyone is exercising extreme caution, this place is filthy and not worth a penny!

Hair in shower.

Good: The room itself was fine. Plenty of space and clean. People were friendly. Free breakfast…read morewith omelet bar. Bad: Lighting in bathroom was fit for a romantic evening not for knowing if your hands are clean or your makeup looks good. Any hotel room with two beds and a sofa bed - so can sleep 6 - should have two sinks! Only one here. The main problem is the elevator situation. This is an 8-floor hotel with approx 250 rooms and there are 3 elevators. And one wasn't working. So even with all three working properly, this is a huge pain. This isn't new. I was in the same hotel 6 years ago. Same elevator situation. I waited for 12 minutes to get on an elevator today and as we descended we stopped at every single floor - they were all waiting too - and of course no one from floor 3 to floor 6 could get in as it was already full from all the people on floors 7 and 8. Absolutely ridiculous to have such a situation. Should have been addressed years ago. Yes, there are steps. But not w luggage and kids.

This was by far the dirtiest hotel we stayed at during our 2-week cross-country road trip…read more The first room we were given had hair on the toilet seat, and the inside of the toilet bowl looked like it had not been cleaned at all after the previous guest. When I called the front desk, I was told there was nobody available to re-clean the room, so they moved us to another suite. The second room had a clean toilet, but there was a paper-thin connecting door to the neighborings suite and we could hear absolutely everything the neighbors were saying. It felt like they were in the same room with us. The carpet looked like it had never been properly cleaned -- it was sticky and visibly dirty, with candy wrappers, hair, food debris, stains, and even what looked like someone's cut toenails on the floor. The doors and surfaces were sticky and oily with visible fingerprints and grime everywhere. The bathroom mirror clearly had not been cleaned either, with visible toothpaste splatter and stains from previous guests. The only thing that appeared reasonably clean was the bedding, but even the bed frame/base had multiple stains, and the chair in the room was so heavily stained it looked disgusting. To make things worse, at 5 AM the upstairs neighbor turned on their bathtub, and the plumbing noise sounded like it was happening directly inside our bedroom. Very disappointing experience, especially for an Embassy Suites.

Wanderlust Creativefoods was spectacular and within walking distance of the Morris Harvey House. The room was spectacular. I stayed in the Loft and had a great time. It was eclectic, quirky, and classy at the same time. The bed was super comfy. The town was awesome and Morris Harvey House was within walking distance of almost everything. I was very impressed by Fayetteville, WV. I highly recommend this place. It was the perfect stay after a full day in New River Gorge National Park. It is very close to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. I woke up early and drove along the Fayette Station Road to see the sun setting over the bridge. Then went back to Morris Harvey House for an amazing home-cooked breakfast. The breakfast was amazing. Fresh coffee and orange juice with bacon and a pistachio waffle. Yum!! I had a great experience and will definitely be returning.

If we pass through there again we would totally stay here again. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that their shower pressure will clean rust off of an old Harley! It was amazing and one of the highlights.
