Fresh pasta and pesto.
Renee K.

Support your local businesses! I have really enjoyed the fresh bread, pasta and pesto from Charleston Bread! The place always smells wonderful and the food tastes better than it smells. The bread has the best texture and the fresh pasta is amazing. I had not had their pesto before, but it had just been made and was excellent! The staff is friendly and you always get a bakers dozen (13) of cookies (Trail Mix is my favorite). Check them out and get some awesome food to get you through this COVID crisis!

Best cookies and bread ever. End of story. You MUST get some of the chocolate chip and trail mix cookies.

We stopped into Spring Hill Pastry Shop during a last-minute overnight trip, and I'm really glad we…read moredid. Everything we tried was soft, fresh, and flavorful without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. You can tell this is the kind of place that's been doing things the same (and doing them well) for a long time. The prices were also surprisingly great, and had they been listed, I would have purchased a lot more. It's a small, old-school bakery that's clearly been a local favorite for generations, and that charm is part of what makes it special. That said, as first-time visitors, it was a little tough to navigate. Nothing is labeled, no menu, no prices, so we had to ask a few questions and rely on recommendations. Maybe it was just a busy Saturday morning, but the young woman helping us didn't seem thrilled that I was taking photos and asking about the pastries. I get that most of their customers are probably regulars who already know what they want, but for those of us just passing through, a little guidance (and patience) would go a long way. Even with that experience, I'd still recommend stopping by. The pastries really are that good, the prices are fair, and it's the kind of nostalgic, old fashioned bakery that's getting harder to find these days.

The staff here is absolutely amazing. They do a lot of volume and they keep people moving through…read morewith love and care. They have a wide variety of cakes, cookies, donuts, and pastries. My favorite was the hot dog doughnut with chocolate drizzle that they are famous for.

Now housed in the…read moreold Zippy's Hotdogs building in Southridge, they've become the only drive-thru bakery of their kind in West Virginia. My son has never tasted the heavenly goodness of a Sugar Pie cupcake, so I decided to try that drive-thru out and let him give this bakery a whirl on the tastemobile. David got the oreo cupcake. He has not ranked any restaurant below a 9 so far and there were no surprises in his verdict this time. His eyes got big as saucers as he took the first bite and he yelled, "There are oreos IN the cupcake! And this icing is so soft and fluffy, oh my gosh! Ten out of ten! Ten out of ten!" My child literally put the cupcake up to my face and squealed, "See the pieces of oreos, mom?!?" I wish he was as equally enthused about cleaning his room or taking a shower... I got the chocolate peanut butter cupcake. I agree that it was mighty tasty. I've had Sugar Pie before, so I wasn't as excited as David. Of course, I don't think anyone is as excited as my son when it comes to good food! :) If you've never had Sugar Pie Bakery cupcakes, cookies, pepperoni rolls or anything else on their yummy menu, I suggest that you stop by and check them out. It is definitely a more convenient location and you can drop in after a trip to Target or Best Buy. You can purchase individual cupcakes for $3, or by them by the half dozen or dozen.

Their pastries did not look appealing. They made an ice cream cone that looked unprofessional and sloppy. Ambience was lacking. We left without anything. Will need to step up or will go under.
