One thing I've noticed during my stay in Charleston is that employees at some chain locations just seem unhappy to be there. This morning, we stood at the counter for several minutes without so much as a "good morning" or any acknowledgment that we were even there. Throughout the entire visit, not a single smile, thank you, or basic courtesy--just the bare minimum interaction. I understand it's a chain, but that's no excuse for ignoring customers. If I'm polite and respectful, the least I expect is to be acknowledged. It's easy to forget that without customers, places like this wouldn't last. read more

It's pretty busy at the time I'm here (10am on not just regular Friday but Black Friday) but you'd expect that I suppose. Grabbed something prepared from the deli case and my coffee order is pretty simple (extra hot Misto. Period) Still took a while for the order to get made, when you're a little back in line and people ahead are making their weird usual froo froo orders I guess it takes a while to get things done. read more

I've been going to this place every day for the last years. The people who work there are so friendly and will help you with anything you need there fast but if they're behind, don't get mad because it is the busiest Starbucks around here. Coffee is right 90% of the time and if it ain't right, they make it right. The store is normally busy so they do the best they can with cleaning up it may be a little dirty at times. read more

The staff was friendly and courteous! Despite how busy the store was I didn't have to wait long to order or to get my food and drink. The manager checked up to made sure everything came out all right and we got everything. The experience was excellent. I did read some of the negative reviews and it Just sounded like people whining of the slightest inconvenience. But rest assured this is a fine place to grab a coffee. read more

When you go to a coffee shop for a cup of coffee, you expect to be able to get a cup of coffee. They were out of my first choice, though it was still up on the board and machine. They told me my second choice was old/bad, so I settled for the only choice available. Coffee was all I wanted. Next time I guess I will just go to a gas station for my cup of joe. Service was slow - one person running back and forth while others appeared engaged in other activities. Friendly service. Parking was easy. Lots of folks at tables working and visiting on a warm and rainy day. read more

We love this Starbucks. My personal favorite aspect of the costumer service is the refusal to serve costumers who cut line entering from the boulevard. I kid you not, I thought my husband was going to get out and fight a woman one day for not only cutting a very long line- but doing it with an attitude. Stays pretty busy but the baristas work their tails off to try and get drinks out as quick as possible. Seating area is easily the most spacious of any Starbucks in the Charleston-Huntington stretch of the state & I'm pretty sure it's the biggest of any location in the state. The only real complaint I have is the wi-fi. It's been unusable since day one and for some reason has not gotten fixed as yet. Hopefully they finally get that straightened out. read more

I was thrilled when this store finally opened. Pluses - great location, plenty of parking, staff who want to do a great job and convenient hours. Minuses - has had periodic management problems, staffing is insufficient around mid afternoon, wifi is not the greatest sometimes and inferior construction resulting in leaks at the pick up counter. I stop at Starbucks when traveling and this one beats the others. I am a regular here and the baristas take the time to learn my name and my regular drinks. It is my version of "Cheers!" read more

I wish I would have paid attention to this Starbucks rating before deciding to order here. It really is terrible which I didn't even know was possible for starbucks. I've never been to a bad starbucks but this one takes the cake. The drive through looked busy so we went inside to order. First mistake. There were only 5 people ahead of me. Typically starbucks is super efficient and fast but this time I waited and waited. 10 minutes and only 2 people had ordered. So I decided the drive theough would actually be faster but was wrong. Once we were in line, we were stuck. What was more frustrating was that they were out of the first 3 items we ordered. Then when we got our order it was wrong but it was not worth our time to go back for them to correct it. I will never go back to this location. read more

Friendly staff, however, not enough help to maintain this busy location. The cleanliness of the dining area and bathrooms needed attention, and I needed to remind them I ordered a chocolate croissant. And it was very good. I hate to give this a 2 star because I love the baristas and I have never had a bad cup of coffee here. However they need to get there drive through straightening out. I was in line for 15 minutes with 7 cars behind me and right when I get up to actually go through to order a car comes in and skips all 8 of us who have been waiting our turn. This has happened to me more than once at this drive through. They used to put a barrier up so you could not enter that way. The barrier needs to be up permanently. People have no common curtesy. Should have realized by the extensive line at the drive thru and the long line inside, and the number of people walking out of the line that the service would be horrible. After FINALLY placing our orders, we waited over 15 minutes more only to be told they were out of almond milk (which we both ordered). We got a refund and left, only to be blocked in by cars waiting to turn in to the drive thru line which was now wrapping around the front of the building. Most of the customers we encountered were equally disgusted with the service. Get it together, people! read more

I hate writing bad reviews about home town establishments...but this place needs some attention. First off, the WIFI is an embarrassment and has yet to be fixed since opening (almost a year from this review). Second, they tend to store incoming stock right in the entrance & at times in front of the seating areas. It's ongoing and hasn't stopped...again, since they opened. 3rd, they often forget to turn the music on or keep the volume up to where it can be heard. Lastly, the drive-thru was built on the wrong side and you tend to get stuck in your parking space at times. Coffee is still on par and the staff is very friendly. read more

Finally a stand alone store in Charleston. This place is still new, but the baristas are doing a great job. The seating area is larger than most Starbucks in the area and the atmosphere is still pleasant. I haven't had an issue with any drinks, but I'm sure they will make it right if a problem arises. Parking/drive-thru can be a little hectic during peak times, but as long as you are observant it shouldn't be too bad. This is a standard Starbucks, but I do love their coffee. I'm sure once they get everything going it will be a blast. Always stop in for special promotions and featured drinks. read more

Terrible store experience- went to order a tea with honey, they were out of honey packets, barista insisted on charging me for honey syrup. I explained that honey packets are free so there should be no charge for honey syrup as it is not my fault they have no honey packets. The service here is very rude they never have any cups supplies. There's never smiling faces in the teenagers that work there are always Holleran and on their phones I bought a personal cup one time and they ended up putting it in a plastic cup anyways dumped it out of the plastic cup and remade it in my personal cup which was a complete waste of plastic. Then when it was raining and my windshield wipers were on and the lady yelled at me to turn them off. If you don't like the job that you're working at find another job lady. read more

The slowest coffee in the world. My sandwich was actually sill frozen in the middle and they got my drink wrong. Horrible experience.

It's still Starbucks. But the one that sets this one apart is how slowly it moves. It's not uncommon to wait in line for 15+ minutes, and I can't begin to count the number of times my order was wrong. And not just they missed a custom drink order (for example, forgetting an extra shot of espresso), but got the entire drink wrong (iced pumpkin latte instead of an iced americano). Avoid it if you can, unless you're willing to take a chance on still getting that Starbucks coffee. read more

Terrible experience. It felt like everyone was moving in slow motion. 7 employees behind the counter yet somehow they forgot my coffee order. Even upon reminding them, they still got it wrong... TWICE. It's just coffee...And yet in a similar way, if it were up to these 7 employees to repopulate the earth... we would also be in trouble. read more

This is the worst Starbucks I've ever been too. I have been to Starbucks all over the US and I've never seen them mess up so many orders. Several coffees before and after my order were made incorrectly. My coffee was fine, but I ordered blueberry oatmeal, which was a disaster. She asked if I just wanted blueberries and proceeded to leave out the nuts and sugar. I said I wanted those items and she told me they "technically weren't allowed" to give me the rest of the things it comes with unless I asked. Then the oatmeal was already cold after waiting the few minutes to let it steep and when I checked the bag, I wasn't even given blueberries at all. read more

I walked in about 9:30 today today, nobody in line, with my gift card ready. I find most Starbucks stressful, hurried & rushed. Of the 5 people behind the counter, no one acknowledged me, after several minutes, one lady yelled someone else's name, several times, sandwich in her hand, annoyed look on her face. No response, still no acknowledgement, she turned around & on to something else. No one in that place understands the hospitality industry. This place is near my home, not going back. I left. If you're lucky enough to be served by staff who transferred from the mall store, you'll be taken care of. Otherwise, yeesh. I have been here at least a dozen times, and literally half of my orders have been wrong, and this could be avoided if they would call back the order as they've been trained to do. Cappuccinos are inconsistent. The inside is spacious with lots of seating but only two comfy chairs. Needs more comfy chairs. read more

I have been here every day this week since I'm in town for work. Every day the drive thru takes more than 20 minutes! The workers don't understand their menu and couldn't understand what a Perrier sparkling water was. They also don't keep enough breakfast sandwiches on hand as the spinach feta wrap was out on Tuesday morning and their shipments come in on Saturdays. The workers appearance is also dismal as you see animal hair caked to their clothing. I guess it's what you should expect from a WV establishment but expected more being Starbucks. read more

This Starbucks has a great location and seating area; however, I have only had about two good experiences here out of several trips. The drive thru is pretty fast about once every two months, so don't count on driving thru if you're in a hurry. They consistently leave about a third of space left in venti beverages. When I looked at them in confusion, they avoided eye contact. There are usually about 10 people working behind the counter, with only one person taking orders. It takes at least 10 minutes to get a drink even if there is no one in the store, which makes no sense since there is a small militia working the drive thru. I do have to give them credit for making pretty good hot chai tea lattes, although the iced chai lattes are disastrously sweet (I would avoid those). They also always have the bacon sandwich I order, which is nice. read more

The WiFi is one of the worst I have seen in a public place. Starbucks should keep a better quality control over their locations. I went twice (few weeks in between) to do some work on my computer while drinking my coffee ; both times I had to leave. read more
