They have annoying pricing to push you to order 2 scoops. The price for 2 is cheap. For 1, not so much. So visit with a friend. Or come half as often. Peanut butter strawberry jam sandwich had bread in it. The strawberry flavour was light. The peanut butter flavour was decent. It was rich & creamy. Sorbet mojito was mostly lemon with a little mint. As lemon sorbet it was good, with a good tart flavour. As a mojito it was not so good.

I've never been to Ripples but I have walked and BIXI'ed by it a million times. It's directly across the street from Coco Rico. We dropped in on a Friday (around 5:00pm) and just missed the rush. The inside is tiny and cramped; you can't even see all the flavours if people are inside. There were about 32 flavours. The menu is behind the counter: soft serve, homemade hard ice cream, frozen yogurt, milkshakes, blizzards, sundaes, slushes and drinks. They also had a variety of pints in the front freezer. There's a limit of two samples per person. Lame! - Kulfi and chai tea ($4.79) - the waffle cone ($1.00) was solid. We settled on kulfi ($0.30 extra) (a blend of cardamom and mixed nuts) and chai tea (black tea with masala chai spice blend). Real nuts inside the kulfi was great. Only other place I've had this flavour was from Crème Glacée Bo-Bec. Personally, I preferred the chai tea. This isn't my favourite ice cream spot in the city but it was a good first visit.

I finally gave this place another shot. I'm still ambivalent. Their soft serve cone is still one of the worst I've ever had. The chocolate it just too thin and it doesn't look or taste good. I tried their hard ice cream as well and it was pretty good but it just reminded me of Ben and Jerry's in terms of taste/texture. However, service is always excellent and the flavours do look creative and unique. I guess this place just isn't for me.

Never been to Ripples despite walking in front of it countless times (literally across the street from Schwartz's Deli). I'm glad I tried it out with a few friends and expect to be back! Pros: - One of the best ice creams I've tasted had in my entire life! My medium cone allowed me to choose 2 flavors. My first one of was the sesame halva and the other one was the chocolate 6X. ABSOLUTELY FAB. - The sole worker was a machine, he did everything and was courteous as he did it. ABSOLUTELY FAB. - Small resto, literally a hole in the wall but the selection of ice cream is pretty big, lots of exotic flavors to try out! Cons: - It's a nice hot day in early spring, this should mean every ice cream store should be fully staffed and expect a rush (especially at a key location like this). Nope. Only 1 guy working here, HUGE line-up down the side-walk. There should at least be 2 employees here. One prepping the ice-cream and the other dealing with the cash. Lots of folks avoiding the line. Missed opportunity of business and more importantly, bad impression on how you operate your store. - Price-tag is pretty high, but this is the quality stuff.

We don't even know where to start describing the heavenly, intense chocolatey goodness of the "chocolate 6x" at @ripplesicecream. With a very interesting array of flavours on the menu we just had to try something that defintiely delivers what it promises - crazy chocolate! Suggested by the server (who was not exaggerating the awesomeness) this thick beauty felt like biting into a velvety frozen brownie. Whether you love chocolate ice cream or not there is no question it will be one of the best you'll ever taste in Montréal.

Hype hype hype.. Ripples Montreal is a small corner takeaway icecream parlor on St Laurent Blvd. The place is very popular on google as well as on other food apps. After reading reviews on various popular apps, I had put this on my Things to Do. Many comments I read before going there suggested decent lineups. However when we reached there, only 2-3 people were ahead of us. We asked them about their most popular ice cream and they suggested 6X. I walked around 2.5 km, just to taste its most marketed chocolate 6x aaaaanddd DISAPPOINTED. Not that it was so bad...but it was like any other chocolate ice-cream. The taste of six different kinds of Ice-creams? Naahhh, Nothing like that. I tasted their Mocha (my eternal love for coffee blinds my sense of choices very often) and Kulfi flavors also and still nothing. So yeah.. Skipping this place doesn't make a difference in your Montreal Ice-cream experience. Also, Ripples Montreal is 2-3 km from all famous streets, so why bother for an average icecream parlor until you are there for 5-6 days and you have nothing to do.

CHOCOLATE. 6. X. That is ALL you need. Whatever type of an ice cream person you are, TRY the Chocolate 6x because you don't know what you are missing. This ice cream place is so awesome, it's like a really cool grandpa that tells you the same stories over and over again but the stories are so good and he's so amazing, you'd bring your friends over to listen to him and it never gets boring. Seriously. I love love love the Chocolate 6X and I'm actually more of an exotic-fruit and quirky-flavors kind of ice cream person. The pistachio, soursop, chai, cardamom are also awesome. I'm just saying.... don't take my words for it though, you should go try it for yourself

With over 20 years of homemade ice-cream experience, Ripples is a phenomenal creamery! On a good day, the wait-time is approximately 5 minutes. There are unique flavours such as Ginger, 6x Chocolate (possibly deadly), Chocolate Truffle Raspberry, Green Tea and Halva! The cardamon coconut pistachio kulfi (additional $0.30), paired with Masala chai ice cream are out of this world! A dash of sugar, a dash of spice, a dash of cream, a dash of love and everything nice...mix the ingredients together...voilà, delicious spiced ice cream! P.S. Don't forget to stretch your stomach at Schwartz's with a smoked meat sandwich before heading to Ripples for dessert!

Homemade Montreal ice cream? Count me in. An unassuming shop located along busy Saint Laurent surrounded by multiple bars, tourist eateries and mid to upscale restaurants. This place offers everything from ice cream and soft serve, to sorbets and cyclones. We decided to get several scoops of ice cream since this seems to be their more popular sellers: --Chocolate Truffle Framboise - Not a huge chocolate fan but this might be the winner. Just the right amount of fruit and sweetness as one of their heavier ice cream flavors. --Cappuccino Chip - Interesting flavor with an almost ginger/cinnamon cookie taste rather than an expected coffee base. --Pistachio - Slightly more artificial tasting than expected, but light enough to enjoy. --Raspberry Cheesecake - Almost too light in texture, sometimes you want more of that heavy cheesecake flavor. Prices may seem slightly above average if you don't get the smaller items, but this place is worth checking out anyways if you're in the area.

Small ice cream shop in Mount Royal district. And when I say small it's like 3-4 people inside at any one time. I'll have you know, though, this ice cream is smooth and savory! I got their homemade pistachio and cardamom. It was to die for!!! I love the smell and taste of cardamom, and I have always thought Columbus needs some more cardamom pizzazz in this town. I've found the perfect spot for it here, in Montreal! This ice cream oasis is cash only, so don't forget your bills. I'm sure you don't want to disappoint your tummy!!

Pretty average ice cream, but good sorbet. We got a chocolate and mocha fondant, a chocolate and mango, and a lemon and mango. The mango and lemon sorbet tasted amazing but the ice cream could've been better. It was very creamy and the milk taste overwhelmed the other flavors. On hot days, be careful that their ice cream melts faster than their sorbet! Our ice cream started melting as soon as we left the shop. We were left with very messy fingers but their bathroom inside was perfect for cleaning up. They accept Canadian debit cards but if you're an American tourist like us, remember to bring cash!

Delicious rich and creamy ice cream. The line was long (it was 85°F that day) but well worth the wait. The service was fast too.

The chocolate ice cream on the other hand is super saturated (note the Dutch chocolate is the same as the sea salt except the salt). While I loved the ice cream, unless I'm specifically in the mood for something creamy, I actually think I would prefer to get the sorbets next time for the more concentrated gelato-like flavor. The matcha sorbet seemed like a winner, but they also have such a wide range of delicious flavors. They let you try some flavors, which is perfect for an indecisive person like me. And the servers are so sweet!

We first got a double scoop of the Orange and Arctic Fire Sorbets. I'm not usually one to get orange-flavoured desserts/drinks since I can easily get some old-fashioned OJ, but this Orange Sorbet was absolutely divine on the hot day. Sweet and tangy, yet not overpowering. The Arctic Fire was an interestingly sweet with a floral tone - I wish I remembered the main ingredient, but I was too busy indulging in my ice-cream/sorbet addiction. The sorbets were incredibly good. After we devoured them, we went back in immediately to try more flavours. My friend and I ultimately decided on the Mango and Passion Fruit Sorbets, both representing tangy fruits that we enjoy and love. The owner highly recommended the Cantaloupe to help us cool off, and proceeded to give us a free scoop on top of our packed cup! We were so appreciative of the free scoop, and I'm glad we got to try it out! It was my favourite flavour - it genuinely tasted straight like the fruit, just an ice-y form. My friend's favourite was the Orange. If you're in the Mont-Royal area, make sure to give this place a try! I wish we tried some of their ice-cream flavours, but we already did 5 different sorbet flavours that night. Couldn't afford a brain freeze! I think from now on, I'm gonna start trying Orange-flavoured desserts/drinks.
