Disappointing Experience with Store Manager. I've always liked Rip Curl products, but my experience at the Santa Ana outlet was extremely disappointing--mainly due to how the store manager, Vicky, handled a very simple exchange. We came in to exchange wetsuits we had purchased earlier that same day. At the time of purchase, we were told it would be fine to try them on at home and exchange them as long as they hadn't been in the water. But when we returned, Vicky was petty, rigid, and dismissive from the start. She even critiqued us for trying on a 3/2 vs. a 4/3, which made no sense--we were just trying to get the right fit. When we asked to speak with her regional manager, she refused to provide any contact or next steps. Then she made an unnecessary comment suggesting we might not be welcome to shop there in the future. When we asked her to clarify what she meant, she immediately backtracked and denied saying it. The entire tone of the interaction was unprofessional, condescending, and frustrating. As someone who worked in retail for over four years, I was really disappointed by how this was handled. Vicky's tone, attitude, and lack of basic customer service made what should've been a quick and easy exchange an unnecessarily stressful experience. Rip Curl makes great gear, but I strongly recommend shopping at another location or through a different retailer until this store is under better management. read more

I could probably spend easily a $100-$200 here but behaved myself on my first visit to this outlet. It's a great size outlet with tons of discounted clothing and surf gear. The prices are great for what they offer. I bought myself a large brim hat for the summer for only $15. They have t-shirts that start at $4.97. Comfy clothing too. They off men and women as well as kids clothing. Like I mentioned the deals are insane and you can totally go overboard easily here. Customer service was excellent too. A staff member walked around asking if we were doing ok and if we needed any help as well. read more

I bought a brand new wet suit for my boy for Christmas it had a hole in it the first day he got it. It was a good swell and put in on to paddle out. Took the suit back next day and no option to get another just to send it out for repair ... that was 4 weeks ago. !!! I called both SA and San Clemente no sign of the suit. I was supposed to receive an email or phone call but have not . I called and was given the number of repair facility and when called it went to a bad number but seriously. With a family of six that surfs we have supported them but now .... ? read more

Large open layout. Plenty of parking. Decent regular everyday deals but today they had 40% all their board shorts and swimsuits which was a steal because some of them were already discounted so you could snag some for $15-25 for top of the line boardshorts. They have a last call area which is their clearance which has really good deal sometimes if you're lucky. $5-10 t shirts etc. the wetsuits they have today were all entry level suits. Didn't have any of the top of the line suites but I think they do sometimes. Came here for a long sleeve rash guard or surf top but inventory was slim and didn't have anything I wanted or my size. Not a huge selection of women's surf gear (wet suits, rash guards, board shorts etc) but you can definitely load up on tshirts, hoodies and other clothing. Some of my fav summer shirts on rotation are the Rip Curl t's and they're super comfy and look cool. As others mentioned, staff can be hit or miss (some appear aloof and more interested in gossiping with their colleagues than helping you out) but some are friendly and nice. This place is definitely worth a visit if you're looking to add some casual outfits to your wardrobe but not your surf accessories! read more

Ummm this place is really good. TShirts, flip-flops, girls, guys... Buy all surfy beachwear at a huge discount. The day I went they weren't even having their 2x a year sale. But I scored: $6 & $8 tees, $12 gauzey embroidered ladies top which I LOVE, $20 bikini separates, $16 leather flip-flops and more. My son loved it. And did I mention the place is HUGE! Stopped in here to look for a paddle board and this terry cloth hoodie called the Leilani. I found neither, but I did find some cute button up shirts for my nephew and surf wax for $1. I bought a floppy sun hat as well, but it didn't really save tons of money like I thought I would. This outlet has surfboards, lots of wetsuits, clothes, swimsuits, bags, etc. I love the brand for years, but wasn't impressed with sale aspect. My daughter wanted long sleeve water friendly UV tops for paddleboarding, and I figured the Rip Curl Outlet would be the best place to find them locally at a discount from retail. She found a number of tops she liked, long sleeve, zip up, UV protection fabric, for about $20 each, and she loves them. It is a little tough to find her size (XS/S), as there seems to be way more in the medium and large range, but there is still a decent selection. The store and selection are both of decent size, the dressing rums have doors (not curtains) and there are plenty of options on the racks for guys and girls, from swim suits to casual wear to wet suites, plus a selection of surf boards. read more

Simply the BEST customer service one can possibly wish for! Miss Dani rides hard, and is very abusive. I have 3 "joysticks", a long one, a semi short one, and a short one with lots of girth. Over the years, I broke them one by one. The last one, the stiffest of the 3, also my favorite, finally couldn't take any more beating: the Frog House told me it will cost me close to $200 to fix "him". So, I'm in the market for a new "joystick", if only match.com existed for surfboards... Luckily, my friend referred me here. The staff here was soooo amazingly knowledgeable and helpful; taught me alot about the shape, length, fin setup, and how they affect performance and rideability; gave me recommendations based on my skill level (definitely not a virgin but no pro either) and my riding style (crazy and overly adventurous) - something short with a pointed nose, thick with extra volume for easy drop-in. I really wanted to get one here, but none was the right shape for me. Will definitely come back here to check out their selection in the future. P.S. no bathrooms here. read more
