Worst food in Burleson! Absolutely too greasy and no flavor. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here.

Sadly Disappointing Just landed in Texas and was looking forward to some TexMex. We waited at the unmanned welcome desk... for a long time. Two waiters came and looked at us and walked away. We walked around the corner a couple times just so that the staff could perhaps see customers had arrived, and eventually asked a waitress if we could sit down, to which she replied, "yeah yeah, someone will come." We decided to finally leave because no one ever came to help. The manager did come as we were headed out (as well as a few wait staff) and his sole response was "I'm sorry that happened' while one of the wait staff said, with earbuds on, that he "was going to get someone." There are a plethora of TexMex restaurants in the area - perhaps try another, like we did, for a delicious evening out. read more

First experience here was less than awesome. We placed a to-go order and the wait for the order was relatively short. That was the good part. My husband ordered an enchilada plate and asked for 3 enchiladas. The order was repeated to him and he corrected the person who said '2 enchiladas?' and again requested 3 enchiladas. THREE. Even held up his fingers so the person had a visual of the number 3. I had the Megan's plate, and my daughter had the chicken tacos. We live about 6 minutes from the restaurant. When we pulled the food out of the bag, we discovered that my husband had TWO enchiladas, not the three he had twice requested. My daughters chicken tacos were missing the bean soup that was supposed to come with it. My Megan's plate was correct, but it was ICE cold. Like it had been in the refrigerator cold. After 6 minutes? Everyone else's was still luke warm. Mine was blast chilled or something. Blech. Now as to the quantity of the food - the portions that we DID received were plentiful. Only my husband finished his entire plate and that was only because part of his was missing. Good on the portion size for the entrees. Regarding the quality and taste of the food we ordered - this place boasts 'Tex-Mex' cuisine, but I'm not sure they delivered on that. Even though all the veggies seemed very fresh, everything else was pretty bland, including the salsa, beans, tortilla chips, and proteins. If you're on a low sodium kick and don't like much seasoning, this is your place. If you like the Texas style Tex-Mex, with seasoning, salt and some heat in your food, don't waste your time here. The food was relatively tasty, but was closer to 'real' Mexican food which doesn't have much flavor. Also, they are very skimpy on the enchilada sauces, resulting in rather dry enchiladas...not sure about y'all, but this Texas girl likes her enchiladas SMOTHERED! Bring on the sauce!!! Overall: I might give this place a second chance if we decided to dine in...probably won't order to-go or catering though. Once it's home, you can't fix it. read more

The best waitress there is Chloe. Great food. Don't have to wait for very long. Like that you can make reservation. Great margaritas.

This is one of my favorite spots in Burleson. Their margarita menu is impressive but my favorite is the Ft. Worth Mag-arita. All the food is fantastic (with the exception of the queso which is sad). The steak fajita nachos are my go-to and never disappoint. Love this place and so glad it's right around the corner from me. read more

*#% FOOD POISONING%#* We stopped in because we were craving Tex-Mex. I ordered the Megan's plate and the Rio grande platter. During my meal I felt the sudden urge to stop eating. I waited for my girlfriend to finish her fajita dinner and asked for the check. We departed the restaurant and I began to feel ill. My girlfriend offered to drive, and when I pulled over I began to vomit. When reaching out to the restaurant to inform them that I had become ill after dinning at their restaurant, the manager began to inform me that there was no way that the food they served could possibly have made me sick. I know for a fact that is not true and you can have symptoms of food poisoning from 30 minuets to 8 hours after injecting a substance. They informed me my case will be sent up the chain of command and further investigated. There did not seem to be any enthusiasm or care for the manager to put me at ease or assure me that anything will be done in response to these events happening. read more

I give the food and service excellent but gotta deduct 2 star's (probably should deduct 3) because the music was soooo loud and classic 80s rock...ask if they could turn it down just a little but they never did. This place caught our eye on several occasions coming back from Dalllas, it is beautiful! Today is the day we actually stopped and dined. To say the food was amazing and flavorfull just doesn't say enough! Our hostess Tania was very informative and pleasant. The owners name was Jose he was very friendly and very attentive! Their expansive menu had many great things from very healthy to indulgences! We had the 50/50 fajitas, the shrimp quesadillas and the guacamole and queso appetizer! Very large portions for the price! They definitely hit it outta the park!! I wish I could tell you about the dessert because they have a few that I would've loved to have tried but we were so STUFFED! Yuck yuck yuck I know it's not authentic Mexican food But it's authentic nothing. Food was gross. Got a stuffed burrito. Nasty tortilla. Full of onions. No meat Topped with green sour cream. Nasty Wife ordered shrimp More like pasty chipotle Just plain gross. Only thing good was the chips and queso. Waiter was nice. And the atmosphere is great. But don't go for the food. read more

Particularly excellent service this evening by Chloe sp? Most of the food was great as always but the chicken and rice soup was overly salty, my wife orders it every time so I trust her opinion on it. Drinks were great and again the service provided was outstanding. read more

We stopped in for lunch on weekday as we were driving South. The staff was great.. willing to accommodate our desire to be spaced out from other diners, yet maintained quick & responsive service. Walking up and inside the expectations are high. Looking at reviews online are not promising. Gladly, it turned out to be better than I expected. The brisket taco was absolutely delicious. The chipotle chicken taco had a hickory/spicy chipotle sauce that truly fulfilled my spicy and sweet craving. The only disappointment was the queso dip. It made me think of nacho cheese with chopped jalapenos in it, similar to what you'd get with a pretzel at a ball game. I had the 50/50 fajitas they were okay didn't come out all sizzling like they do at other places. The flavor was okay for the chicken but the beef was weird. It was like as soon as you put it in your mouth there wasn't anything to chew it just turned to mush. Again weird. The queso blanco was no bueno, the flavor was a weird milky flavor and that's it. We ended up switching it to the traditional yellow and it was much better. My husband got the enchiladas and he liked them. But neither of us was so wowed that we would go again. Our waiter also needs to work on listening to the customers. Before I could get the rest of my sentence out or try to ask a question, he would walk away. At one point I was like sir can you wait just a second I'm not finished. I am hoping this was just a one off situation. I gave this place a pre-covid rating of 4 stars for the excellent selection of cheap bar food and for their fantastic bartenders. They also raised the bar after covid, having delivery of food and a gallon of margaritas! Cheers to Rio Mambos helping us survive the hellish landscape of Covid. When you are afraid to leave your house, delivery of delicious tamales and margaritas was a Godsend. I hope the cheap bar food returns but thanks for being there in 2020. read more

This was my original review from 9/2019 and was 5 stars-We got right in on a Sunday afternoon. Our server Leo was great!! The food was delicious. This was our first time and we will be back for sure!! We had a margarita flight, the shrimp cocktail, beef fajita lunch, and shrimp tacos chinos. Went back today for brunch 12/1/2019 and had to power my rating to 3 stars. Service was kind of slow. I ordered The Mambo King Bruch - this is supposed to start with seasonal fruit that never arrived. For the entree I ordered the fajitas omelette. The meat did not have much flavor and I was expecting some veggies or something - it was just meat eggs and cheese. The potatoes did have the veggies I would have expected to be included in a fajita omelette and they were good. Most of my meal ended up in the garbage unfortunately. The mimosas are very good. I will have to give it another try but most likely not during brunch! read more

Good Mexican food at an affordable price with friendly staff and a nice ambiance. I had the shrimp enchiladas which were tasty. The black beans were just a tad too salty. Otherwise, the meal was satisfying. Oh yea, the churro beans are delicious. I decided to try the sopapilla cheesecake for dessert which was awesome. I will come back for that alone. read more

we just had an amazing breakfast Sunday morning. Staff was great and the food, like whoa good. The only thing i could ask for was coffee quicker. First cup and first refill, got the excuse a fresh pot is brewing. Which means, a waiter or some other employee got the last of the coffee and did not take the time to start a new batch. The coffee flavor was great, not to strong and no where near to weak. Wife had the brunch special with a mimosa. I had cheese enchiladas with two fried eggs on top. Enjoyed every minute . Beautiful atmosphere. The drinks were strong and the food we tried was very good . We had shrimp cocktail and it taste like homemade sauce. I was pleasantly surprised that guacamole and chips came along with shrimp . I also had the margarita sample- tried 4 and don't remember the names but they were all delicious. We have enjoyed this location in the past, but this Saturday 10/03/20 was not a good experience. We ordered online pickup. Ordering process was okay, but felt like a limited menu. Picking up the order was quick and simple. The server asked if we wanted to go through the order and I asked if she had packed it. She said yes. I asked if it was all there. She said "oh yes sir". Downhill from there. Unpacking the order at home we were missing 1 pint of rice. Everything was cold. The queso was from a can, cold and conjiled, more like some kind of cheese sauce. The fajitas were WAY over cooked, tuff, and cut in strange shapes. The shrimp camarones were not seasoned. To top it off we had out of town guest and they took our recommendation for "local" tex mex". We won't make the mistake of recommending Rio Mambo again. A waste of $95.00. read more

If you like trendy Tex-Mex food and atmosphere, this is the place for you. While I don't care for their queso, their "white queso" is great. They're a little more pricey than I care for for lunch meals, but the food is pretty good. I've eaten their lettuce wraps a few times, and they're good. The enchiladas are also good. Terrible. Our server was drunk or high or something. Here is my email I wrote to the company. We will never go back here. So I have a issue here. First off we love rio mambo and have been here many times. We normally go to the Burleson location. On 5/23 we called to see the hours of operation, the gentleman who answered the phone sounded intoxicated and was sluring his words on the phone but we laughed about it and decided to go anyways. This was around 8:00pm. We arrived at the restaurant around 8:15 the hostess at the front when my wife asked if we could sit outside rolled her eyes at her and said I guess let me check. We had a party of 7. We were sat outside she advised us our server would be right over. We waited there for about 15 minutes no one came. Finally someone I guess the manager came and said someone would be right over. 15 minutes later our server showed up to greet us he was the same man from the phone that was sluring his words and appeared to be highly intoxicated. He then disappeared for a bit and came back and took our drink orders. We were going to just leave but it was already late and nothing else was open at this time. It was now 9:30-9:40, and a table that was sat behind us after we sat down was nearly done eating. We then got our drinks placed our order the waiter was very uncomfortable and awkward and obviously drunk or on drugs. From then on in the evening everything just took forever the waiter was walking around like he was about to drop everything or something i don't know but we were his only table. The food was ok my wife's food was burnt and the waiter knew that and was like "it got a little burnt". Hmm really shouldn't you send it back and have them fix it? Next when it came to paying to be honest I want my money back. This drunk guy stood right over me while I had to use the tablet where they watch you put in a tip. I wouldn't have tipped him anything but didn't want to cause a issue so I just hit 20% and was like what ever. I looked around previously for the manager to ask for a new server. No where to be found, I looked for him after and disappeared. Anyways we will never come back here after this and that's pretty sad. The food is good, but the service is horrible. Our server this time didn't know the menu, never was around for refills, took 15 minutes to get a spoon, and brought the wrong order to my brother-in-law. Manager couldn't even be bothered to come see what was wrong. The tables are way too small so there isn't enough room for everyone's plate. But the thing that got me the most is when we ordered sopapillas for dessert, they brought out two almost empty honey bottles. Could hardly get anything out of them. Food and service were definitely amazing! The jalapeño margarita was yummy but didn't even compare to my ridiculously good meal! I ordered the Holbrook...it was cheese enchilada with white cream sauce, two over easy eggs, carne asada, and avocado!! That will definitely be the meal I order every time. We also got the best birthday presentation we have ever had at a restaurant. It was my sons birthday and 8 people came out singing and clapping! Went here last week for a birthday dinner with friends. Seven adults and five kids on three separate checks. That's a big pain for the server, I realize. Food and service were both good, no complaints in that department. When we got the check and paid, we all tipped appropriately. Personally, I tipped 22% because of our situation. Come to find out, the waitress had already added 18% to the check beforehand. She then stood there and watched as all three parties tipped extra and never said a word. So, in the end, I unknowingly tipped 40%. Adding a gratuity of 18% was perfectly fine in that situation, but not notifying us and waiting as we all tipped extra is nothing short of theft in my opinion. read more

They were very busy but our server as well and any server/manager that walked by was very attentive. The food was very good. It was my first time eating at a Rio Mambo Restraunt with my family. We ordered two appetizers which were, queso with chips and a shrimp cocktail and it was both delicious. I love it when I receive my sizzling beef platter when it's literally "sizzling" on the plate, although this time, it wasn't the case. That kind of detail, makes you remember how exciting it is when you receive your food straight from the kitchen! The rib eye was perfect and my kid's chicken and soup was delicious. Since the place doesn't have their liquor license yet, I was able to get up to two house margaritas for free. We had a great experience eating at the Rio Mambo in Burleson, although we did not see a dessert menu and the waitress never mentioned if we wanted any desserts to eat or bring home. It would be even better if they offered a military discount as well. read more

***UPDATE*** Rio Mambo reached out to me on 6/14/18 at 1:16pm and apologized for the horrible experience we had at their establishment. The manager (a male can't remember his name) told me he wanted to send us a gift card to go back to Rio Mambo and give us a second chance, which we were very willing to give it another go because we understand there are bad nights at every restaurant today as of 6/27/18 we have yet to receive anything from them. I will not be reaching out to them nor will we try the restaurant again, don't say you are going to do something and then not do it. I really wanted to update this post with a good experience however that is not possible. Tried this place a few months ago and the food was not good, the Bloody Mary tasted like water and black pepper completely nasty. The staff hardly came around to the table.
