Gastromaquia is aptly named. We had a gastronomic feast at our last dinner in Madrid. With EARLY…read more8:30 reservations, for awhile we were the only customers in the restaurant. By 10:00 it was completely full! All the tapas we ate were excellent. Highlights included Octopus with Potato Foam and the Tikki Masala Mussels. I usually skip mussels but these were smaller mussels and pretty tasty with an Indian-flavored broth. Our favorite was the caramelized Grilled Goat Cheese with honey vinaigrette and basil pesto. We were practically fighting to lick the plate. My Aged Entrecot was a bit fatty but tasted delicious and the fries were perfect. The grilled Salmon with Saffron Rissotto and cuttlefish ink emulsion was successful, as was the Trigueros Rissotto. The food execution was nicely paced, wine constantly flowed, and our server was the best. A great Spanish foodie finale for our trip! Gastromaquia is my #1 choice when I return to Madrid. We love Chueca barrio!

Upon arrival, we were immediately seated. There were a few tables near us with couples. Started with a bottle of red wine. Grilled Goat Cheese w/honey vinaigrette and bail pesto-Great starter. Tikka Masala Mussels-Very Good twist on mussels. We had an additional entree, but I couldn't eat another bite. BUT, that didn't stop me from the boozy add-ons... Pina colada sorbet-this was better than the mojito sorbet. Note, be prepared for the addition of Rum to your sorbet. Complimentary amaretto cream Server was attentive and the place remained quiet for a perfect date night.
