Like many reviewers, I was initially delighted to find Rinse, and thought the rates and service appeared to be reasonable. However, in my latest laundry delivery I found that they returned some of my laundry unwashed, in a plastic bag, with a handwritten note. The items returned were cloth maxi pads, which are increasingly popular among people who menstruate (women, girls, and some gender non-binary and FTM folks), because they are less likely to be toxic and are better for the environment. The note described my cloth pads as a "bio hazard", which I found pretty shocking. While I can appreciate care or squeamishness about human bodily substances -- if you have that concern, maybe laundry and cleaning aren't the right occupation for you? Bodily fluids -- sweat, blood, traces of urine, and everything else we secrete -- may not be pleasant, but that's what makes dirty clothes dirty and in need of laundering! This hadn't happened before (including all prior orders which included my cloth pads), and in this order, they laundered dirty underwear and stained and sweaty clothing without blinking. Without getting graphic, there was also nothing unusual or excessively messy about any of my laundry (nothing was damp or saturated for instance). In and of itself, this wouldn't have turned me off Rinse, but I reached out to their customer care department, and the first person who responded directed me to a broad policy which claimed they don't launder anything with "bodily fluids" -- which again, would basically mean not laundering clothing worn by humans. There was no qualifier about fluids being excessive (they weren't), or any other explanation. I responded and explained that while this might seem minor, refusing to provide a service solely because the items at issue are used by people who menstruate -- without any scientific or health basis to distinguish it from all the other laundry that is routinely cleaned -- actually seems to be a pretty clear form of gender/sex discrimination, and likely runs afoul of California's Unruh Civil Rights Act. In another era, I might not be prepared to write a long review or take further action just over my cloth maxi pads! But, I really care about reproductive justice, and policies that tacitly or covertly discriminate against menstruation are on a continuum with much more threatening and dangerous policies (like attacks on contraception or other reproductive healthcare). I did receive another response, and it failed to engage the civil rights questions at all. Having a comprehensive ban on "bodily fluids" in a laundry service not only makes no real sense -- it allows providers to then selectively decide what to exclude, and provides cover for a practice like only refusing to clean menstrual supplies, while continuing to accept other undergarments and soiled clothing which are no more or less of a "hazard", based on the stereotype that menstruation is somehow dangerous or unsafe, or "dirty" (as compared to everything else that human bodies do). I would go so far as to invite people who care about gender equity and reproductive health to boycott Rinse/Repeat unless or until they adopt a non-discriminatory policy (please spread the word). Thankfully I've verified that my neighborhood has several other companies providing similar service which don't have comparatively vague policies that might have a disparate effect for women, girls, and various people with ovaries. read more

We were traveling from out of state and were looking to have clothes laundered before moving on to the next leg of the trip. Setup was very difficult and cumbersome. After our runner picked up the clothes, confusion ensued about whether the items were for dry cleaning or laundry (masks, boxer shorts, really?) ... even though we had expressly (1) selected wash and fold online, and (2) expressed to the agent. But for the third time on the day, at 10 I finally got them to understand our order (wash and fold) and happily paid the $5 surcharge for one-day turnaround. Late the next day, just hours before delivery was to be made, I get a text: no questions asked, we found one time in your bag that we consider to be dry-clean appropriate, so we didn't wash any of your clothes. Never mind that we advised on three occasions the instructions. Instead of (1) following our instructions or (2) timely notifying us and seeking clarification, or (3) here's the real genius move -- washing the rest of the clothes and omitting the one item in question...they did nothing. Called us at the end of the day, too late to do the job. Yes, businesses are struggling during COVID. But this struggle wasn't caused by a virus, it was caused by a poor system and structure, and by failing to use any common sense whatsoever in delivering a customer's needs or expectations. I'll spend two hours at a coin laundromat on Skid Row tomorrow washing clothes before our flight...but it's damn better than spending a dollar on Rinse. Try another company. read more

This was the worst experience and close to a scam. They picked up our wash & fold, containing the exact same items that our local cleaner services with wash&fold. 2 days later, I received a text saying our ENTIRE bag was refused service because they weren't wash&foldable. Let me note that the only way you can communicate with customer service is via text --and God knows how long they take to respond l. Then, they fixed that saying SOME items in our bag were refused because tags said hand wash only....When the laundry came back, 70% of our bag was NOT WASHED. And ALL of those items have tags that say MACHINE WASHABLE. For instance, they did wash some underwear and didn't was other identical underwear. Whoever looked after our bag got lazy and did not deliver us the service we paid for. I meant to review rinse after I'd used it 4-5 times as I've seen other reviews that mentioned enjoying it and then having issues or it going downhill. I've used it almost 20 times now so this review is overdue. First, I have never had a problem with them misplacing items, not properly washing, etc. I'm sure this can happen but it must be rare. So if it happened to me 1/20 times it would not affect my business because mistakes happen rarely with any business. I use rinse about every two weeks, and have approx. 20-25 lbs of laundry. It's about $30, I pay extra on top of that for next day delivery because I'm always procrastinating and request service when I'm desperate. My clothes are returned laundered and perfectly, I mean perfectly folded. It takes me 10 minutes max to put away a massive amount of laundry. It literally saves hours. It saves my back leaning over my bed folding. It saves my weekend from being stuck doing chores. Now, I don't use for dry-cleaning and hand wash because I do feel those fees can run high for me. However, I don't compare the cost of regular wash to fluff and fold or doing it myself as some reviewers do, because I would have to lug my 20+ lb bag for fluff and fold, spend more time, etc. With this service, I am paying for the convenience. So - sadly this is a great service that is being poorly executed. During the number of times I used Rinse, I always received something from someone else back in my laundry bag. I don't understand why Rinse cannot keep clothes separate. One bag, one machine, one cart, one dryer, one folding table, then back in the bag. Nope. I feel sorry for the many people whose clothes I got and I did not always have time to call Rinse and have them come back to my house to pick them up. UPDATE Jan 16: Rinse is reimbursing me for the comforter (and I should be able to replace it, since it's still in stock), so I'm changing my review to 3 stars. I would try Rinse again for items that can easily be replaced or I don't care as much about. I would be nervous to send over any special or irreplaceable items. I think they've got some quality control issues to work out, given that my comforter came back with stains twice. I appreciate them reimbursing me for the mistake. I would've given a 4, given the convenience, if not for this issue (there was a delay with my original order). UPDATE: I got my comforter back, and THERE ARE STILL STAINS ON IT. It also took 10 days to get returned to me (I realize this is probably due to the holidays, but I would expect this sort of case would be expedited). Customer service did not even respond to my last email. I'm very unhappy and want a replacement of the comfo First time using Rinse to wash a down comforter, and it came back with dark stains ALL OVER IT. This was a brand new $600 down comforter, used for one night (tiny dog had a tiny accident, so it just needed a wash in cold water). One star unless they offer to replace the comforter. This is the perfect, affordable for service for anyone who values customer service and their own time. I work 80-hour-weeks and I don't have the time to go to/from the one dry cleaner that is barely open by the time I get off work. That, or, I'm just a forgetful person and takes me weeks to get my clothes back. The valet at Rinse for my first pick up was very informative and friendly! She told me everything I needed to know and reminded me about the drop off policy. The up to date texts and emails were very helpful. Be weary. Subscription model service with tons of "hidden" fees in the fine print. Absurd fees on fees structure including large order minimums ON TOP of base delivery fees. Do not make the mistake of sending one or two shirts. Not only will you pay equivalent pricing to some of the most high end cleaners you will also get hit with the delivery fee and then an offset for not hitting the minimums. On top of that they decide if and when a shirt needs to be "repaired" and without your approval at the time (probably deemed consent again in the fine print) they will repair and charge you additionally egregious fees. You will notice the theme with Rinse. Unfortunately the took my wife and I way to many months to catch on. Response to owner: I was a very early adopter in the LA area and the pricing continues to evolve to a point where what I was originally paying changed materially. In regards to repairs, I was never once notified or asked about a repair in advance, rather I was just charged (including $15 for a button that after MY REVIEW was flagged an removed). So, there I was sitting at home waiting for my dry cleaning to be dropped off. At 8:45pm I get a text it will arrive in 45 minutes. Over an hour later, nothing. Cut to 10pm I receive a text saying it has been dropped off. I wasn't called which is odd but I check outside, nothing. I test customer support who send me two pitch black pictures as their "evidence". I text back pictures of my apartment, with light (apparently it is hard to take a picture for some of their employees). Over 40 minutes later the woman dropping it off answers and says she did drop it off and rang the bell ( I have no bell). Turns out she decided to deliver my expensive suit to another apartment (wrong address completely) and left it hanging by their trash! Gave them my 500+ dollar Gaultier suit (my mistake trusting them for a first-time experience, I guess) and it was returned a few days later with the pant clasp completely ripped off. I wish I could give these clowns -5 stars. So after they turned my whites a light shade of pink months ago .. I decided to give them another shot. Even after the first time they messed up my clothing they offered to clean it again at no charge and credited me for the other half of my order. But after they re cleaned the whites to pinks .. it was still a light shade of pink. I wound up donating the tees. So this time.... this uN professional company did it again. Turned my whites into pinks. But this time. I had some irreplaceable tees. Two vintage rap tees that were actually promo tees from 1999 when I worked in the music biz and an over priced James Perse tee. I complained. They took it back ... and after having it in their possession for almost 10 days .. they sent it all back and guess what ... it was pink still... though a lighter shade with hang tags stating the items were still stained. But .. here's the most fuked up part : one of my vintage rap tees came with a god damn stain on it. In the front. A brown one on a white tee. So now that tee is basically destroyed. After having it in my possession for 18 years .. these morons ruined it. All I got was an email stating to find receipts and/or links to prices and they will reimburse me. How do you find a price on something that's vintage ? I mean there's vintage rap tees from the same era and year that sell for $500 and more but this one was a promo as was the other and can't be found .. This is a review for Renato, who just dropped off my laundry. My regular fluff and fold service has been closed for disinfecting and getting the staff supplied with gloves, etc. during this weird COVID-19 moment in time, and I had an absolute mound of laundry piling up. I had a $20 credit with Rinse, so I decided to give it a shot. I cannot say more about how lovely both of the people I've dealt with in person have been. I only wish I could remember the other person's name, but Renato kept me informed about when he would be coming to drop off my clean clothes, and then explained the new drop off and keep social distance policy. I used to use Rinse when i lived in LA. Unfortunately I just moved and they don't service my area... yet!  When I was using RInse, the company was reliable, professional and super efficient! I love how quick they response, and they save me the time and trouble on folding my clothes. I love this business concept and want so badly to write a great review but the simple fact is that my experience with Rinse does not warrant one. I've used Rinse 4 times. The first was incredible. Super convenient and worked exactly as it should have. The second time however was a disaster. My clothes were dropped off at someone else's home. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the Rinse driver getting a description of the house where my clothes were mistakenly delivered. When I found the house my clothes, that had been placed on a hook outside the door, where gone. The driver eventually hunted them down. Turns out the person who had them delivered to their home took them inside. Rinse apologized and gave me a credit for my next wash. I gave them a second chance and things were back on track with my third experience with Rinse. Thinking this mistake was a one-off and would never happen again I used Rinse for a fourth time. Everything appeared to be legit this time around - my clothes were picked up and dropped off with no issue. The problem came when I received an email saying they had charged my account for a Rush fee when I never requested one, and my clothes were delivered within the normal time frame. They are in the process of refunding me, which will take a few days, but this was it. My suggestion to anyone considering Rinse is that the value proposition that it provides freedom from having to deal with the hassles of getting your clothes dry cleaned is a false one. In fact I've spent more time and had more issues with this "convenient" service than remaining loyal to my local dry cleaner. I wish this review was a positive one because I wanted this business to deliver on its promise but it's clear they do not have the fundamentals down. I say pass on Rinse. read more

I have had Rinse Repeat for quite a while. They really don't have it together. They continuously send me other people's clothes in my bag(I have socks and ski face warmers that dont belong to me!). I have no idea about my own clothes. If I've received other people's clothes semi constantly, I'm pretty sure other people have some of mine. Every once in a while, they "forget" to put me on the route even though I have a subscription, so I have to reach out to them and see if maybe they can pick up clothes when they were supposed to... Otherwise I have to schedule for another day. When I first got them, they only sent me one bag so I had to switch my clothes out in front of the valet each time. They raised prices and I ended up needing a larger bi-weekly bag so I changed my plan. They sent a small bag labeled as standard. I asked the valet and he said that that was the large bag, that I got what I ordered. They fixed the issue by sending another valet the following day. Since they did 2 deliveries already, they weren't going to put me on my previously scheduled pickup and I had to contact them to please do it, and to wait an extra day. I guess it's fine, but I could have easily left for the weekend with the clothes on the front door without them saying anything. I guess it's still more convenient than shared laundry, but still a pain in the ass. read more

The whole reason I went with Rinse was for a higher quality wash than my apartment building. My white duvet cover and shams came back with blue stains all over them. I feel that's pretty unacceptable quality. Unless you don't care about your stuff, I would not recommend. read more

Awful service. Just got notice that a minimum of $30 will now be required for pick up. I've been a customer since 9/2016 and when I replied to the email that this may cost them a customer they replied saying, "sorry to hear that, so we canceled your account"! No search for resolution no search for insights just goodbye. Great way to keep and grow you fledgling customer base! Crazy how bad the customer service is! What started out as a convenient alternative to local dry cleaners morphed into a bad business model. First came the new app that screwed up delivery days and times by having to reply to a text-if you missed the text you missed your delivery, although customer service routinely told me it was an account setting issue that I had no access to change. Next came "tipping", reversing from when Rinse launched stating 'tipping creates an awkward exchange between our valets and the customer and that we adequately compensate our valets so we have a no tipping policy'. Lastly if you need anything beyond basic dry cleaning for instance a button sewn back on or a stain it was near impossible to receive those services. I contacted my local dry cleaner and they were more than happy for my business and they too do pick up and deliver for prices less than Rinse. I gave Rice an honest shot for 2+ years and the experience declined greatly from launch. Will be surprised if they are here a year from now... Work with your local dry cleaner and you will most certainly get better service at a better price without making app developers money. read more

It's a great idea but they need a lot of improvement. I used them for about a month and a half and it was ok. They communicate well when it comes to pickup and drop off, however it's very late in the evening for both pickup and drop off. I also had them do my dry cleaning, never again. They took all my good hangers and gave me 5 cent ones back. They state that you shouldn't send them with good hangers but fail to tell you until after the fact and dont bring any for you. I am not interested in treating thousands of dollars in suits like my 10.00 t-shirts, that was strike 2, first being pickup and dropped off times. I finally canceled my order today because they washed all my white towels (3/4) of the laundry I sent in with my black towels and now they are all gray. Not once did they offer anything nor try anything rather than just agree to cancel my subscription. DO NOT USE THEM if you value your clothing.. they clearly do not separate whites and colors.. which is stated on the site. read more

My brand new white Pratesi sheets came back with dark stains on them - they only offer the sheets on hangers- not folded which I do not care for. My unworn ivory jacket that I sent due to a small spot on the back came back with the hem all drooping ... now have to pay for tailor to fix this. They send TOOO MANY messages, "I am near" .. What an absolute disaster. My wife found this service and wanted to give it a try because of the convenience of having our dry cleaning picked up and delivered. We trusted that they would know how to take care of our clothes properly. Instead my dress shirts were washed, rather than dry cleaned (strike 1), returned wrinkled (strike 2), returned folded instead of on a hanger (strike 3), and they appear to have shrunk to the point where I can't button them (strike...4?). This company is going to fail and all their reviews are fake. They were days late to pick up our clothes--not hours, but DAYS. Then, they lost 6 items of our clothing. When we asked for a reimbursement, not only did they refuse to do so, but they scoffed at our request. DO NOT USE RINSE. Wash your clothes in the bath tub or a lake. However you can avoid them, it is in your best interest to do so. Could not wait to post this awful review after my experience with them. read more

Honestly, rinse is hit-or-miss. I've used them for the past year because there are few other options in LA. When I get my clothes back, they're clean, but at least 30% of the time, there's an issue: 1) Late driver / delivery / pickup 2) I've received the wrong clothes multiple times 3) Most recently, I paid for rush delivery, and they lost my clothes and can't seem to figure out how to actually rush them to me. A day late already, and I'm heading out of town. No real offer of help or compensation from"customer service" either. After I get this batch, I'll be trying other services. Rinse is great... As long as you don't actually need your clothes back every time. UPDATE: After much back and forth, we ended up getting our clothes delivered. Rinse sent a driver early (mid-afternoon) to remedy the situation. Still not ideal, but at least we got our clothes before heading out of town. Bumping the review up to 3 stars. read more

This app seems like a scam. I requested my first pickup. Per the app, you have a pickup window between 8pm-10pm only. You can't pick any other time nor narrow the window. I got a text at 945pm that my driver had 5 deliveries before me so wouldn't be there before 1030. I tried to call someone for customer support, but all you can do is text with some computer bot who rescheduled me to another day. Then that rescheduled day the driver came and left before 755pm! Again I tried to call someone for help and all I got was a bot who tried to reschedule me for another day! I'm not sure how they treat your clothes but if they have this much disregard for my time, how can I trust them? Also I want a real human to answer their phone!!! read more
