The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with tasteful decorations. The service is good and it wasn't busy. It had a family owned vibe. I tried this place because Matt Shearer was raving about the rice and beans. The mini pastelitos sampler came with chicken, beef and cheese with a dipping sauce. The chicken felt pretty dry and not much flavor. My favorite is the cheese and the beef which were both satisfying. Ordered the pechuga a la parrilla with rice and beans. The char grilled chicken is well season and the overall portion is great. The rice and beans unfortunately tasted just average, I don't agree with Matt Shearer. The food was on point! If you're craving delicious Domican dishes, I recommend going with family and friends. You get decent enough portions to share. I missed taking pictures this time. Been coming here for years. (Thanks Clo!) I went with my Mom. We had white rice, beans, and sweet plantains to share. My Mom ordered the Camarofongo. It was a mofongo with shrimp in a savory yellowish sauce and broccoli. I had the Bistec Salteado which is steak that has been cut into thin strips and sautéed in a light vinegar with onions and peppers. The steak was very tender. The ambiance is perfect. The environment is great and the music and colors the place is fantastic. When we sat down my menu was missing two fulls pages and my husband's has all of them so we shared his menu. The food was ok. I say this sadly because I wanted it to be great. My husband is Dominican and he has eaten here a handful of times to give it plenty of chances and he is never satisfied with the quality. Our meals took over a half hour to come to the table and I was understanding because I ordered the baked chicken, but there was no warning at all and we had no apps so we waited almost an hour before eating. Our meals finally came and our waitress never came back to see if everything was ok or not. And I wish she had, I would've sent my chicken back because there was a hair in it! The veggies on the chicken were raw veggies and not cooked at all (Again I am completely fine with the situation because I ate everything else but this was disappointing). She did have a few other tables but still no check in, we finally got a box and a check after we had finished eating. And we left. The price and portions are completely fair. I have been eating at Rincon for over 20 years now and they have not once disappointed my taste buds! I consider them the best Spanish (Dominican) food around (my opinion).The only negative thing I can say or ask is Why didn't they move sooner? The new location is very nice and I consider it a gem in its new location. My favorite dishes are the pollo frito (fried chicken) with white rice and beans or chuleta frita ( fried pork chop) with white and beans. Been ordering from them for years. Even now that they moved to the new location. Foods always well seasoned. So I went to the new location to eat dinner. The place is well decorated. Parking is available in the rear of building but there is always plenty of parking in the surrounding area. We order an app and drinks to start. Drinks came out and were super sweet. The waitress took our food order. And when it arrived the meat on both plates weren't even warm. The appetizers never came. Also The waitress never came back with the appetizer. She never came back to the table to check to see if everything was ok. And when we called her over her response was. I thought you guys didn't want it since you ate your food. Lol. My beau and I came here on a Sunday during lunch hour. It was not busy at all. I assumed this being partly due to the parking. They provide a small lot that's shared with the adjoining convenience store, which will allow about 5 cars parked at a time. The metered street parking can also be questionable given the width of the two-way street the restaurant is located on. Although I have never dined here, my beau insisted I give it a chance as he recalled having some great meals in the past. I will note that the menu is pricier in comparison to similar restaurants in the area. Anyways, we did not order much, as I had an event to attend to immediately after. Believe me, I would've chosen more dishes if I wasn't restricting myself! So... the pork chop plate was delicious. It was seasoned with just the right amount of salt and spices and combined with a good crispy texture. I appreciate how it was already chopped into smaller pieces. Less work for me! The red beans that accompanied the dish was tasty as well. The oxtail could have been more tender. Maybe it should have been braised a bit longer. There were pieces that were tough to chew. The sauce that was prepared with the oxtail was good though. Unfortunately they were all out of mango shakes so I opted for passion fruit as an alternative. What's weird, the passion fruit tasted like mango.... Aside from the parking, the downside lies in the service. The waitresses were lovely but it took ages to get someone to hand us the check!!! I came here while on vacation. I heard through word of mouth that this place was really good, and being I had never tried Dominican food before, I decided to give it a try. Lynn is hard to navigate (at least I think so), so it took us a minute to find it. Inside the place is very casual. There were a few families there that evening but it wasn't too packed. One thing I will say though is that it being the middle of summer, it was a bit too stuffy inside. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered a fresh squeezed lemonade which really, really hit the spot, as it comes out really icey. The menu seemed a good size. We ordered rice and beans, plantains, fried beef, and a mixed seafood stew. The server informed us that the stew would take a little bit and we said that was fine, I'm on vacation after all. The rest of the food came out and it was delicious. The beans were really flavorful and the fried beef was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The real MVP was the seafood stew though. Huge portion of LARGE shrimp, clams, conch shell and lobster in a spicey tomato broth. I loved it. Considering how much food we were served (we had alot of left overs) I thought the prices were really decent. Next time I'm in Lynn I will definetly stop by again. read more

Parking close to the restaurant is near impossible during the day or during the week at all. They do not have their own lot, but share a small lot of less than 8 spots with a convenience store. This leaves street parking across the street and on the side street. It's a bit sketchy in the area, so I prefer not to park my vehicle on the street. I usually stop by quickly for a lunch plate and the food had always been pretty good, nothing spectacular. But better than tipico. Good lunch prices. Horrible and extremely overpriced dinner. I went this past weekend with my kids and hubby and I was not impressed with my dinner experience. The customer service was lacking, they said they be right back several times and we were left just sitting there waiting for way too long. The portions are big so be prepared to eat lots and have left overs. Definitely a must try if in the area. Parking was hard but restaurant was clean so in all I recommend. Go for the experience. LIke most experiences, it will be what you make of it. We are white, very white. A chance encounter with a man from the Dominican Republic made us aware of this place, named for San Francisco de Macoris, the cradle of Dominican baseball players. It was evening, the middle of the week. Other customers were families and one very sharp looking couple. All looked Dominican. Everyone starts with freshly squeezed juice, and it is fresh. (We used to raise citrus. We know fresh.) My husband ordered the popular mofongo, a baked combination of plantains and meat with a sauce and lightly marinated onions and sweet peppers. Mofongo seems to be comfort food for Dominicans. Whatever I ordered was no longer available, so I asked the waitress to bring what she would serve her own mother. I got the most delicious goat stew (chivo) you can imagine plus something she called green beans. They were large, oval, gray-green beans faintly flavored in a sauce, new to me and delicious. If I were to order mofongo again, I would plan to take half of it home. I would also ask for extra sauce and relish, which makes the dish. Later, the chef came out to ask if chivo were a wise choice. (It was.) He and the waitress had debated whether to offer an authentic dish and decided to go for it. Items of the day are written on a board at the front and, I suspect, are a good guide to what the cook thinks is best today. Next time we will order seafood, probably paella. It's a favorite with the regulars, despite the price. If they think it is worth it, that's a good indicator. Then, the owner came out to chat. His mother was leaving that day for California to see his nephew, a Marine, receive an award. (We're from California; my husband was a Marine during conflict.) It became a love fest. He and my husband took selfies and he reduced the bill, which we passed on to the waitresses as a tip. Was the service fast? Were we in and out promptly? Maybe not. Rincon Macorisano is a family owned restaurant on Washington Street, next to the Lynn Police Station, that specializes in Caribbean cuisine from the Dominican Republic. Some of my favorite specialties include plantain-based dishes such as Mofongo, made from fried green plantains mashed together with broth, garlic, olive oil and filled with pork or chicken (Pollofongo) and Tostones, a side dish made from sliced green plantains that are cut width-wise, fried, pounded flat and fried again until they are crisp and golden brown. Highly recommended as appetizer or side dish. Another favorite of mine is Chicharron de Pollo, breaded fried chicken cut in small pieces, allowing for more coating to cover the meat, deep fried and crunchy delicious! Rincon Macorisano also specializes in seafood. Try the Pescado al Ajillo (fresh fish in garlic sauce) or their Paella (Yellow rice with Seafood). Caribbean food is famous for its pork dishes, and Rincon Macorisano has several that are worth trying: Cerdo Frito (Fried Pork Meat) and Pernil al Horno (Baked Pork Shoulder). Pork is cut so that the pieces include fat and rind, then slow cooked, which brings out the flavor of the meat. Pork, beef and chicken dishes range between $9 and $12 dollars, seafood dishes from $15 to $30 for the Paella; on average it is a bit more expensive than other restaurants in the area, but keep in mind that this includes a side dish (rice, beans, french fries or tostones) and portions are generous. Rincon Macorisano serves beer and wine for a full dining experience. If you want a non alcoholic drink, try the Batida de Lechoza (Papaya Shake) made with Papaya, Milk and sugar or the Mango Shake. I am from Orlando Florida and went to Lynn Massachusetts last week. My kids wanted to eat Spanish food and also have some mofongo. Somebody recommended this place so we went there and ate. The food is very inexpensive and they give you a lot for your money. We pay double the amount of money for the same plate in New York City the day before. The one in New York was dry had no meat in it and had no taste. This food here is excellent the environment is great. The only problem is is no parking and it's an area with as many homeless people. There's a parking lot in the back of the restaurant, however there's about 10 to 20 people homeless outside walking around. I wish they were in a different location. I'm from New York and we visit Lynn MA. on Aug. 31st., the service was the most pathetic of any restaurant that I'm been, it took about 15 min. just for them to take our order, the drinks never were served, we had to serve our own drinks from the refrigerator, 30 min. went by and no food, two tables arrived 15 min. after us and they got the food before us, probably in 10 min or less. we ask the waiter about our food and she only said......."is coming" 45 min. later no food, we decide to live because we still have to drive to NY, and they want us to pay for the food that we never eat and they never prepared. To bad for a restaurant that pay no attention to customers and I can tell you is the worst service ever, is better go to McDonnals.
