For drinks, my sister got the orange soda while I just had a bottle of water. We also shared a single serving of flan. Mofongo is a big deal in the spanish speaking islands of the Caribbean and this review is for the Mofongo here. They make a smooth garlicky version here with plenty of chicharron meat inside on a bed of lettuce and a side of beef stew sauce it is a dreamy dish and a flavor bomb. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. There is an English/Spanish sign posted telling patrons to mention food allergies. I asked what type of oil the food is fried in because of a peanut allergy. I am an English language speaker only so I was not understood, I asked for an English speaker. When I asked again she did not know the type of oil. It took a little while to determine the oil is soy. There is not a menu or the price of the food posted. When it's time to pay for the food you don't know the cost of the individual items. That can be a problem to a person not familiar with the choices. That would be helpful in determining what to order. It's not a large establishment. When it's busy there it's extremely crowded. The food is worth the wait. read more

This is a funny little Latin American Dominican type restaurant in Lynn Massachusetts. They specialize in rotisserie chicken a few other miscellaneous items and some side orders. The chicken is fabulous when it's fresh served with Lyme you can also get a multitude of side dishes the plan Taine is very sweet taste great and rice and beans nice very nice we usually get takeout for lunch and get a half a chicken with some salad for Approximately seven dollars the price changes every time we go. They do not have a priced menu. How it works you wait in a long line sometimes out the door when you get up to the counter you tell the people what you want and then they chop up the chicken ask you how much you want and what side you want with it. Then they guesstimate the price pretty funny but always a bargain. No set prices. They have approximately 4 or 5 tables but if you go at lunchtime or dinner time I would not want to sit at one as you will have peoples butts on your table as they are curling around inside trying to stay warm the line gets so long. If they had a decent seating area and a set menu with set prices I would give them more stores very tasty food everything else is a mess even the parking lot which is very tough to get into. Usually when I come to Boston, this place is one of my 1st stops. Unlike many of the reviews I read on the place, it usually is true Dominican 'street' food. If you're looking for fancy schmancy this really isn't your place to go and just seeing its location should tell any patron that. The food can almost consistently be referenced as authentic. I definitely would not eat Dominican food from just any spot however in my last couple visits I feel like the seating area has grown more and more abandoned. The bathroom is one I'd rather not use. The prices and portions are very generous here. The quality of food is also decent. However, I agree with the majority of other reviews. Ordering here presents a huge challenge for those of us who can't communicate in spanish. I have noticed that even though there is a "line," they would attend to spanish speaking customers first. Parking has never been an issue as they have ample parking. I find their parking lot repulsive at times. Being in the area of Lynn, my wife wanted to find a really good Spanish restaurant to eat. Lynn is known for good food at places like this, just a little hard to find the good ones. This place is very similar to ones in Boston, they price everything to the pound. So to feed for two or even three, your better off getting a order of rice. Then for meats and poultry you can mix up all you want, fried steak, pork, chicken all that good stuff. They have plantains, empanadas, and other small bites to choose from. The only downside is that a lot of the people that eat inside the restaurant just leave their mess there and the restaurant itself doesn't pick up the plates right away either. So if you see the table take it. Overall great place for food, expect a food coma afterwards. read more

I live on the North Shore and go to Tipico once every few months for authentic Dominican food. I've never had a bad experience there. The amount of food you get for the price is great. I always get the pollo guisado which is delicious. I'm not Latino but I'm pretty fluent in Spanish so I like to order in Spanish. Often I get surprised looks from the staff when I start ordering in Spanish. I think they get a kick out of it. If you go at dinner time there is usually a small line but it moves fast. These place sucks, they people who work here doesn't not know English so if you wanna order from this place you need to learn Spanish, the owner is a jerk, the restaurant is full of rats and rouches, someone should call the health department on these place, the food sucks everything either look over cook, under cooked, or re-heat, and to those that don't know what that means is that these people will have food of 4-5 days ago and still sell it, they place inside is fucking nasty everything is filthy, the kitchen door is next to the dumpster and I have personally seen BIG ASS RATS run from the dumpster to the inside of these place, the cook never washes his hands even after he goes to the bathroom, he will eve pick his nose and cough and still won't wash his hands. This place has great food and friendly service. Not the easiest place to order from if you're not a spanish speaker, only because there is no written menu. They thankfully speak english, but if you don't know what you want before you get in there you might be in trouble. It's always been fairly busy, so I've never been able to pick their brains about what they have, but I can recommend rejeno de papa, alcapuria's and pastelito's for quick $1 snacks. I usually get red beans and rice with chicharon, and some malta or... gah, I can't remember then name, but it's a sweet, pink fountain drink made from beets? Don't knock it till you try it, it's good! I eat the pastelito's on my walk home and have the rest for dinner :3 I read the 1 star review, and I think it should be updated because they've done some great renovations. The only reason this place isn't 5 stars for me is because they don't make it easy for me to be able to deviate from my norm and choose new items since I don't know the span of their menu! I work near Tipico and this is a favoritye lunch spot for my co-workers and I. They say familiarity breeds contempt and the variety and quality of the cuisine makes this not to be the case. Luckily there are spanish speakers in the lab where I work that can translate the menu and make suggesstions. The ox tails, the chicarron, the chicken and the fish are all excellant.
