I stopped by Punta Cana Dominican Grill curious to try something new. I asked to switch out my white rice for yellow, which they did -- and while I was disappointed they forgot my beans, I still gave it a fair try. The yellow rice was fluffy and filling, and the yuca fries were actually a standout -- golden, crispy, and really satisfying. The salad, however, came with no dressing, and the chicken definitely didn't match the saucy, glistening version I saw in their online photos. Mine was a bit drier and missing that visual punch. All in all, it wasn't bad! I wouldn't tell anyone to skip it -- it's worth a taste if you're nearby and in the mood for Dominican food. I have a feeling there are other items on the menu I might enjoy more, so I'd give it another shot with different picks next time. read more

Service was great, food was good except for the mofongo and the prices were good. Mofongo was dry and loaded with garlic...then they give you a garlic sauce to add more garlic. The chicharrones in the mofongo had bones which were inedible and almost teeth breaking. We all said we have had much better. Everything else was good. read more

I live in the area and had been meaning to try this place since I heard it was under new ownership. I recently ordered the Mofongo with chicharrón, and it was fantastic. You can really tell they take their time and care with the food--everything was cooked properly, and I especially appreciated that the pork belly chunks were completely cleaned and shaved. That's usually a major turnoff for me elsewhere, so it definitely earned extra points here. The only thing that could be seen as a downside is the price. The Mofongo was $30, which is on the higher side. That said, the portion size, sides, and overall quality absolutely justified the price in my opinion. I'm happy to go back and try more dishes. Best of luck to the new owners, my family and I enjoyed your food very much! read more

Food was unseasoned and not good. Staff was nice! But would not return. Had high hopes.

Amazing food delicious authentic Dominican food the pork fritas was so delicious, crispy, flavorful. The beans and rice were to die for, cooked to perfection! The side salad was fresh, the dressing was perfectly seasoned I couldn't stop eating even though I was full. The staff was attentive and so sweet they let me bring my little dog in! I can't say enough about the whole experience. I got the Mofungo for my son and he said it was amazing. If you don't try this hidden jewel you are missing out on an exquisite dining experience!!!! read more

Lo unico bueno fue la coca cola. Ordene un flan y parece que lo sacaron de la basura.

Wow, what wonderful food and the best service ever. So much food that we will be eating it for next next few days! The flavors were so good and the tamarind and passionfruit juice made us all very happy. Thank you, Alba! We appreciated your attention and helping us find something (a big plate of fried chicken!) that our son just loved. We will visit Punta Cana every time we come to Beverly! read more

It was 7pm and we were starving at work craving fried fish, plantains, beans and avocado. Albeit, the prices were high but the delivery was excellent! I received a very large whole fish fried, for $30 which was delicious! Not overcooked, and arrived hot and not greasy. The rest was not salty, or full of msg. Excellent food and they set a high bar for delicious Caribbean cuisine! Try them you won't be disappointed. read more

A new ethnic restaurant in Beverly? Yes please! I watched this place transform from the Omelette Factory to what it is today, and I've been anxiously awaiting the day when I would try the place out. Today, I was feeling especially hungry at lunchtime and so decided to try it- I'm glad I did! Obviously, as a first-timer, I didn't know what to order. The girl behind the counter was very helpful in walking me through what the options were, and you could tell she was genuinely excited by what she had to offer! I tried the braised chicken and it was amazing. Tender, falling off the bone and moist, but even more than that was the quantity - OMG, for only 9$ I was given enough food to feed a family for the entire day. A heaping portion of yellow rice (also moist and delicious), a large bowl of black beans and a complimentary salad to go with the meal. (Potato salad also an option). It was so good I decided to take some home for my husband for dinner tonight (I'm sure he will be just as pleased as I was!) The place was busy, a steady lunchtime stream of customers, which was nice to see. Lots of people picking up food to go. Pros: Quick, friendly service, a variety of options, amazing value, a nice addition to the Beverly restaurant scene Cons: No liquor (yet! supposedly they just got a liquor license and it should be coming in september), A little more like counter-service than a sit-down restaurant. As long as you know that ahead of time, you will not be displeased. I'm sure I'll be back soon! read more

Punta Cana Dominican Grill - Braised chicken, black beans and yellow rice- enough food to feed an army! - Dominican Near Me - Beverly, Massachusetts

Been craving Spanish food and decided to try this place out for lunch (since it's near work). Cute/trendy spot. The girl behind the counter was super busy but kept it cool and greeted me in a friendly manner. I got the braised chicken, yellow rice and beans to go. When she was putting it into the to-go box I was thinking HOLY! For $9, I got plenty of food! Everything I got was delicious as well! You bet I only ate half and will have the other half for dinner. This place is a definite hit with the amount of delicious food you get for the price you pay! read more

It's so nice to have a new place to eat that isn't pizza, burgers, or pasta. As someone growing up eating Dominican food in the household, I can honestly say that Punta Cana is as authentic as it gets. Great portions and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere and definitely coming back! Highly reccomend trying the Limeade- it's ridiculously good. read more

Amazing food, glad I discovered from Grubhub! The portions are generous and so delicious! The beans and rice are so flavorful, and the meats are crispy and tender. The plantains are our favorite, both the sweet and savory versions. Don't let the menu intimate you. We didn't know some of the dishes came with sides and an employee very kindly called us to ask which ones we'd like. Delivery is on time and accurate. I took the pictures mid way through eating as I suddenly remembered I had meant to review! read more

As a family of fans of Carribean food, we could not have been happier with our first meal at this welcoming, modern, comfortable place! On our way to an appointment at the Cummings Center, my ten year old daughter and I saw the place for the first time, and we both emphatically agreed we were going there for lunch. We were so happy to find it was open for lunch, after our frustrating previous appointment, and we were greeted by the most friendly and enthusiastic server we have had in a long time (outside of our 'local'). We were giddy upon seeing the menu and, with a little advice from said wonderful server, received an amazing meal that healed our wounded souls. With good music playing, we dove into simple Dominican excellence, wishing we could have tried everything on the menu. Which we will when we go back again and again! Could not recommend this place enough, and by September they'll have cervezas as well! BOOM!!! THANK YOU PUNTA CANA! read more

I really like this restaurant, I continue to order from it although I did get food poisoning one time and had to go to urgent care. I couldn't stop throwing up (including water), it was so bad. Friendly and inviting. The food was great, the staff were very outgoing and pleasant. I enjoyed the experience. The place is wonderful

Disappointing experience with this newly opened restaurant. My Dominican friend drove from Maine so that we could celebrate her birthday. Another friend drove from NH and 7 of us ventured over for an authentic Dominican dinner at this new restaurant with posted hours until 9pm. We arrived just before 7:30pm...chairs on tables, lights off, no sign. We moved had to plan B and took her to Alma Caribbean Fusion just down the road. They had incredible service and food plus made her feel like the Dominican princess that she is. read more

Very welcoming staff. High quality food in very large portions. Tres leches cake that haunts my dreams. I will be back to try the mofongo.

Oh my God it's so good. I got Cerdo Frito (fried pork) and the rice that came with it was kinda like the Dominican version of Chinese fried rice: shrimp, pork, eggs and veggies. SO GOOD! The food is absolutely amazing. Perfection!. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Huge portions too. read more

I came here one day about 30 minutes after they opened and they were out of plantains of all kinds. That wiped out about 3/4 of the dishes I craved. That's like an Italian restaurant being out of pasta. I had some sort of beef stew type of dish instead, it was meh. Arrangement was kind of confusing on how to order and nobody seemed to know anything. I'll give them another try, maybe it's becuase they are still new. read more

I believe as more and more people discover this restaurant it will become a 'hidden gem'. Nothing fancy in terms of the decor, but the place is clean and neat an inviting. The people serving you are over the top pleasant, knowledgeable and patient when it comes to explaining food items you might be unfamiliar with. Now the food. In general very tasty, well prepared and large portions. We all had some of the stew of the day. It was a seafood dish that was cooked perfectly with each type of fish tender and full of flavor and season perfectly (for us). It was served with white rice. My wife had the Dominican Hamburger and it was full of taste and quite delicious. My son had the Braised beef with salad, beans and white rice. I had a Dominican styled Cuban. We ended up bringing a great deal of food home because of the large servings. A unique treat for me was the Yuca fries. It's not the usual fair for Beverly and I truly hope people give this place a try... Very reasonably priced and family friendly. As close to home cooking you can come. read more

Went for lunch. They offered samples before ordering, everything tasted great. The pork shoulder was so good we all ordered it, huge portions. The plates come with rice (yellow or plain) a side of beans (black or red) and I added vegetables. The restaurant is counter service style, with other items made to order. This food works perfectly for counter service as it's typically slow cooked meats and stews. The server was very nice and helpful. Food was really good. I don't have a lot of experience with Dominican food to judge how authentic it is, but you get the feeling dishes are made with patience and love. I can see us becoming regulars. Suggestion - sampler plate would be amazing. Maybe more veggie sides and ways to eat a lower calorie lunch. read more
