I stopped by Punta Cana Dominican Grill curious to try something new. I asked to switch out my white rice for yellow, which they did -- and while I was disappointed they forgot my beans, I still gave it a fair try. The yellow rice was fluffy and filling, and the yuca fries were actually a standout -- golden, crispy, and really satisfying. The salad, however, came with no dressing, and the chicken definitely didn't match the saucy, glistening version I saw in their online photos. Mine was a bit drier and missing that visual punch. All in all, it wasn't bad! I wouldn't tell anyone to skip it -- it's worth a taste if you're nearby and in the mood for Dominican food. I have a feeling there are other items on the menu I might enjoy more, so I'd give it another shot with different picks next time. read more

I live in the area and had been meaning to try this place since I heard it was under new ownership. I recently ordered the Mofongo with chicharrón, and it was fantastic. You can really tell they take their time and care with the food--everything was cooked properly, and I especially appreciated that the pork belly chunks were completely cleaned and shaved. That's usually a major turnoff for me elsewhere, so it definitely earned extra points here. The only thing that could be seen as a downside is the price. The Mofongo was $30, which is on the higher side. That said, the portion size, sides, and overall quality absolutely justified the price in my opinion. I'm happy to go back and try more dishes. A new ethnic restaurant in Beverly? Yes please! I watched this place transform from the Omelette Factory to what it is today, and I've been anxiously awaiting the day when I would try the place out. Today, I was feeling especially hungry at lunchtime and so decided to try it- I'm glad I did! Obviously, as a first-timer, I didn't know what to order. The girl behind the counter was very helpful in walking me through what the options were, and you could tell she was genuinely excited by what she had to offer! I tried the braised chicken and it was amazing. Tender, falling off the bone and moist, but even more than that was the quantity - OMG, for only 9$ I was given enough food to feed a family for the entire day. A heaping portion of yellow rice (also moist and delicious), a large bowl of black beans and a complimentary salad to go with the meal. (Potato salad also an option). It was so good I decided to take some home for my husband for dinner tonight (I'm sure he will be just as pleased as I was!) The place was busy, a steady lunchtime stream of customers, which was nice to see. Lots of people picking up food to go. Pros: Quick, friendly service, a variety of options, amazing value, a nice addition to the Beverly restaurant scene Cons: No liquor (yet! supposedly they just got a liquor license and it should be coming in september), A little more like counter-service than a sit-down restaurant. Amazing food, glad I discovered from Grubhub! The portions are generous and so delicious! The beans and rice are so flavorful, and the meats are crispy and tender. The plantains are our favorite, both the sweet and savory versions. Don't let the menu intimate you. As a family of fans of Carribean food, we could not have been happier with our first meal at this welcoming, modern, comfortable place! On our way to an appointment at the Cummings Center, my ten year old daughter and I saw the place for the first time, and we both emphatically agreed we were going there for lunch. We were so happy to find it was open for lunch, after our frustrating previous appointment, and we were greeted by the most friendly and enthusiastic server we have had in a long time (outside of our 'local'). We were giddy upon seeing the menu and, with a little advice from said wonderful server, received an amazing meal that healed our wounded souls. With good music playing, we dove into simple Dominican excellence, wishing we could have tried everything on the menu. Which we will when we go back again and again! I really like this restaurant, I continue to order from it although I did get food poisoning one time and had to go to urgent care. I couldn't stop throwing up (including water), it was so bad. Another friend drove from NH and 7 of us ventured over for an authentic Dominican dinner at this new restaurant with posted hours until 9pm. We arrived just before 7:30pm...chairs on tables, lights off, no sign. We moved had to plan B and took her to Alma Caribbean Fusion just down the road. It was a seafood dish that was cooked perfectly with each type of fish tender and full of flavor and season perfectly (for us). It was served with white rice. My wife had the Dominican Hamburger and it was full of taste and quite delicious. My son had the Braised beef with salad, beans and white rice. I had a Dominican styled Cuban. We ended up bringing a great deal of food home because of the large servings. A unique treat for me was the Yuca fries. Went for lunch. They offered samples before ordering, everything tasted great. The pork shoulder was so good we all ordered it, huge portions. The plates come with rice (yellow or plain) a side of beans (black or red) and I added vegetables. The restaurant is counter service style, with other items made to order. This food works perfectly for counter service as it's typically slow cooked meats and stews. The server was very nice and helpful. Food was really good. I don't have a lot of experience with Dominican food to judge how authentic it is, but you get the feeling dishes are made with patience and love. I can see us becoming regulars.
