Amazing food, good prices... they were closed when we knocked on the door, and woman pleasantly came to the door and said sorry we're closed. We must have looked malnourished or our puppy dog pulled on her heart strings cause she then said "what would you like?" and in starving teenage boy fashion we ordered just about everything on the menu.. Don't judge... after about 10-15 mins she came back to the door with several bags of food.. when we got home the after a 40 min ride home indulging in the glorious smell of food. Customer service was amazing. Food was bland and lacked flavor. I ordered a small oxtail w/ rice and peas, cabbage, and plantain. Food wasn't hot. Rice and peas was watery no flavor and reminded me of box rice. Oxtail taste more southern style than Jamaican style, no flavor. No scotchy, no pimento, taste like the cook just recently learn to cook. Plantain was good Cabbage lack flavor as well.. food taste like they're cooked it for hospital patients. I have been wanting to try this restaurant out for some time now and I finally was able to make it happen. As this was my first time, I thought it was a walk in restaurant where you could place your order and eat in and or take out but it is take out ONLY. If you aren't sure what you want to order in advance, luckily there is a full menu taped to the front door and they will help you through the order process, then you wait in your car and they will bring out your order directly to your window once it is ready. I ordered the large oxtail plate with cabbage and white rice but they were unfortunately out of white rice so I was given rice and peas. It also came with a few small pieces of sweet plantain. I also ordered a patty with coco bread and it was good as well. The service was great, I can't recall his name but very helpful and patient. The quality and amount of food was great for the price. I tried this restaurant after eating amazing Jamaican food at Spice Rite Jamaican restaurant thinking that it would be another gem and because it's closer to my house, but unfortunately it wasn't as amazing as I hoped. I had the jerk chicken, rice &peas with vegetable salad and a chicken patty. I called ahead to order the food, and the women that answered the phone sounded rude and annoyed with my call. Once I got to the restaurant the food was not ready. The chicken was very dry and overly spicy (not a good combo), I was also exceptionally disappointed to discover that they don't have a jerk sauce, instead my plate was drenched in stew chicken sauce. The rice was bland and the salad was dry and bland( i had to add pepper to my vegetable salad). I didn't end up finishing the plate because the chicken was just too spicy to enjoy. I ordered food from here, as I have recently moved to the area. I got the small steak plate and a beef patty. Their food was flavorful and they have generous portions. I also recommend the Ting drink which is a grapefruit carbonated beverage. Oxtails unbelievable. The jerk chicken is the spiciest I've ever eaten. It was sooo spicy I wanted to stop eating it, but it was sooo good that I didn't. We were in town for an event at the Lynn Auditorium, and saw this place was close and had Jamaican cuisine, which I've never had before. The results were great -- the Jamaican jerk chicken was delicious, the lady behind the counter was very nice, and since this restaurant was located on the corner with several off-street parking spots it was easy to run in and pick up the food for takeout. Ah yes. My 200th review. i wished I could have made this one a 5 star review but unfortunately that was not my experience. The place is very small and the service is super slow but I expected that before I got there so that was not the disappointment. The thing that disappointed me was the food. I was expecting some spicy and delicious Caribbean food that was going to blow me away. What I got was some ho hum food that I am not sure can even be classified as Jamaican. The rice and peas was so bland. Ugh. I just learned to make rice and beans a couple of years ago and mine tastes world's better than this. The plantains they gave me were so dry I almost choked trying to swallow them. I had the oxtail and the jerk chicken for meats. The jerk chicken tasted no better than the jerk chicken I make at home with the help of Grace Jerk Seasoning in the jar. On top of that the chicken was hideously dry. The oxtails were okay but I tasted no spices in them whatsoever. I mean no salt, pepper, garlic, nothing. It tasted like it was drenched in beef gravy from Old Country Buffet. The frozen supermarket generic mixed vegetables sure did not add anything to the meal. The best thing about the entire meal was the homemade sorrel drink.
