Bean pupusa with cabbage slaw and spicy salsa
    Shirin B.

My first time here and the experience was beyond amazing! My friend and I ordered a 2 bean pupusas, a bean and cheese pupusa, and a cheese pupusa (we're vegetarians), along with a corona, horchata, and a tamale on the side. We were seated immediately and served chips and salsa, and then took our time and finally ordered. We called ahead to see if they could make vegetarian pupusas and I'm so happy they were able to! The cheese and bean pupusa is to die for! It was so warm and comforting and tasted really good with the cabbage slaw and spicy salsa. The tamale was okay (a little dry) but they provided sour cream which made it moist. Their horchata is perfectly sweet, and its a big glass! We couldn't finish all of the pupusas but the server Betsy, was so nice and she provided us with every single to-go container we needed and asked for. Super good service, and pupusas that you need to try!

I was really craving a pupusa and plantains, but there weren't many restaurants around that served them. I found Rincon Latino on Eater and it had a pretty good review, so I decided to come here. My uncle and I shared the shrimp cocktail and I had plantains y frijoles, a revuelta, and chicken pupusa. shrimp cocktail: oddly sweet and a bit viscous; shrimp was juicy and avocado was buttery and fresh, though plantains: ripe, soft, and delicious; could've been a tad sweeter pupusas: I was underwhelmed but it satisfied my craving. I've had better; these were a bit bland. I've had pupusas where they can make it without the cheese because I'm lactose-intolerant but here they couldn't, so I tried to take some of it out. There was definitely more cheese than meat. The pickled cabbage was good, though. Service was friendly and quick.

    Slaw for the pupusas.

Buford Highway UYE strikes again (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-buford-highway-uye-rincon-latino). This time, at Rincon Latino. Coincidentally, there was another eating group there ("Ethnic Eats") who I think inadvertently stole the tables I reserved for our group. We outnumbered them. Min Y. suggested we walk over there and start snapping our fingers like West Side Story. With 21 Yelpers in attendance plus the "Ethnic Eats" group plus all the regular customers, poor Rincon was overwhelmed. There were only two servers so service was understandably slow. I didn't mind the wait though because I was with great company. Rincon is located in the same strip mall as Little Szechuan and El Pastor at the corner of Buford Highway and Shallowford Road. The interior resembles a school cafeteria or a foreign mall food court. It largely consisted of numbered cafeteria-style tables and booths (designed for four each) and TVs mounted to the walls playing Latino TV shows. The restaurant's menu features mostly Central American food from countries such as El Salvador and Guatemala. Many of the menu items have descriptors of what country each dish originates. I thought this was neat and I think this place offers many unique dishes. Of course, I had to get the pupusa since that's what everyone mentions when they talk about Rincon. A pupusa is a Salvadorian dish that is a soft corn tortilla filled with cheese, beans, or meat (and any combination). They're only a couple dollars each and come with a type of cole slaw that you can eat with the pupusa. I tried the pork and cheese pupusa and enjoyed it. My tablemates and I agreed the pupusas were a little on the bland side, but I think that is the nature of these things. This is an authentic Central American restaurant, not a Mexican-American place. I still recommend pupusas to anyone who hasn't tried one. For my entree, I tried the Guatemalan steak. This steak was served sliced in a dark red sauce cooked with many peppers and onions, along with lettuce, tomato, beans, and rice. The amount of meat in the dish was deceiving because of the generous amounts of sauce, peppers, and onions cooked with the meat. The steak was tender, but I did not find it to be very flavorful. Stephie Z. let me try a piece of her Salvadorian fried chicken. Another OK item. It reminded me of the small chicken wings you can get at Chinese buffets, but better quality of course. Small and crispy and not greasy. A popular item of the night was the shrimp cocktail. I think our group ordered five or six of them and everyone seemed pleased with it. They were huge. Finally, just like Mexican restaurants, each table was given complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was served in two containers with spoons and an empty bowl. I was told by Lauren S, who's dined here before, that the two salsas can be mixed in the bowl. One of the salsas was "tomato-y" (the red one) and the other had more of a spicy kick to it (the orange one). I preferred the orange one, but I like spicy foods. Given the circumstances, I think the two servers did a good job. They were well aware of how long we'd been waiting and one of them assured us our food was coming. I have to give them big props for separating checks for 21 people! The owner was nice and thankful for our business at checkout.

The chicken pupusas are bomb. The service is always fast and correct. The pupusas do not disappoint. But I would not get the chicharrón again. The portion is small and no meat just fat. The yuca was also blah!

This spot is a gem. Ever since moving to ATL I have been craving traditional Central American food and rincón latino definitely delivered. I had a cheese pupusa and cheese & beans pupusa. They were delicious. My partner had the carne asada which he also enjoyed. And you can't beat the prices. Will definitely be coming back.

This place isn't bad. The menu has a wide selection of food to choose from ranging from Salvadoran to Guatemalan. Portions are pretty generous for the price. FOOD (my sister and I ordered): - 1 Carne Asada Taco - 1 Carne Asada Gordita - 2 Mixed Pupusas (beans/cheese/pork) - Charbroiled Chicken Breast Entree (comes with lettuce/tomatoes, beans, and veggie rice.) All in all, good food. Nothing special about this place. The pupusas actually stood out because they tasted really good, but I wouldn't get that on a regular just because it's greasy and fried. Try this place out if you're ever on Buford Hwy! FREE Wi-Fi here.

I've found a near perfect night out for those who prefer substance to style. I mean, what I'm going to propose isn't some crazed orgy of booze and and double talls of sex. It's not a night out of pretty people and all of the glamor the Real Housewives of Atlanta could muster. What I'm proposing is for those real, Real housewives who don't want to cook and maybe just catch a movie. I came across this quite accidentally when my wife and I were running late to watch a chick flick I promised her because she's patient and I do many, many things wrong. The movie was playing at The Regal 24. We didn't enough time for a "true" dinner with cloth napkins and silverware and servers telling us their names. "Let's see. How about he head down Shallowford Road to Buford and hit Rincon Latino?" "What kind of food is that?" "It's Central American. The place supposedly has great papusas." "What?" "They're like hoe cakes stuffed with meat and cheese." Translating the exotic to my girl's native Southern did the trick. And so we went. And we ate. Damn, we ate a lot. We had a couple of papusas. I had the Guatemalan bistek. She had enchiladas verde, which I tried to talk her out of, but when all was said and done, she was quite happy with them. The jumbo, shrimp cocktail (as opposed to a jumbo shrimp cocktail because the shrimp is normal-sized, but the cocktail is jumbo) almost made me weep with its awesomeness. The papusas smelled of corn straight of the grill and oozed cheese when I tore into them. The chicharron, oh baby. Imagine corn bread with cracklin', but 100x more awesome and with cheese in it. That's what you get when you order a papusa chicharron y queso. Sorry Harold's. Subsequent trips bear out the tastiness of the Salvadoran fried chicken and the 7 Seas Soup. Dinner was quick and inexpensive, but most importantly, it was delicious. This isn't a fancy place by any means. Rincon Latino has all the atmosphere of a school cafeteria. But this cafeteria serves great food and (actually) pretty inexpensive beer. All of this made the chick flick we watched down the street much more bearable for me.

Decent food, good service, lots of variety. I'd say points were lost on the food quality and flavor overall, but they have unique selections from Central America and it's fresh for the most part. Chips and salsa are included in visit. See photos of food.

A nice place to eat, low key and friendly people so I'll get straight to the point . Hurrachas - A rectangular thick corn shell that has been fried and topped with your choice of meat(s) and topped with lettuce, a healthy dose of creme, avocado and slice of tomato Love these things ! These are similar to a Sopes but on steroids, I will add they've got Sopes which are smaller and round that are awesome too and can eat them three at a time after that I'll start leaning to the side, wishing you would roll me over and say night night mmm. Pupusas - Bigger than I thought and are about the size of a pancake are filled with different Ingredients. The ones I've tried so far are pork and bean with cheese both are good come out pipping hot and served with pickled cabbage huh ? I don't speak Spanish and a good portion of the staff doesn't speak English and ordering well sometimes it comes down to pointing on the menu because of this the food is usually dropped off and the servers do an about face. I am left to my own devices on how to eat this odd combination. While I never been sure about how to eat this and have picked at it at times I've finally learned to add small forkfuls of it to bites with salsa somehow it works go figure. Big plates of Fajitas with standard fixings . Don't let let your eyes get the better of you when ordering otherwise your gonna wish you wore something that doesn't entail a belt or button.

Heard about pupusas for the first time about a week ago. Headed straight to yelp to find the best place to give them a try. Once again Yelp delivered, went yesterday afternoon to this humble looking establishment. We truly enjoyed our taste of Central America. Taking a queue from Kit F. we ordered the small shrimp cocktail and a few pupusas (pupusa regullta, pupusa de loroco con queso, and pupusa de queso y frijoles). The pupusa regullta was our favorite. I would recommend against the pupusa de loroco con queso, I think it must be an acquired taste. Loroco is an exotic flower, indigenous Central America. Pupusa regullta consist of cheese, pork, and beans. Pupusa de queso y frijoles contains cheese and beans.

I really could care less if anyone get's bothered by this 2 rating. you know you're in for an experience when you spot 4 dead, huge ass cockroaches lying on there backs right in front of the resturant door. had this place bookmarked for a while. wanted to see what all the humdrum was about the pupusas. loved that they offered 2 choices of salsa. i loved the spicy one. hated the chips, they tasted stale, needing salt, and just plain nasty. took a while to get the food, even though it was only 1 additional table. they brought out a side salad, which essentially is cabbage soaked in vinegar. didnt care for it at all. ordered the pollo el derado, or something like that. it was like the cuban version of masitas de puerco. except this is little pieces of chicken fried with no batter. the outside crust was really good, but the chicken itself was fried to death!! it was so tough and made my jaw hurt with all the chewing. my plantains were overly fried to death too. not carmelized, but black and dried out. almost dehydrated. the carne asada was pretty good. i also get this at mi barrio. Rincon Latino actually had a better tatse and seasoning, especially when i added my lime juice. i liked the fire taste. it was grilled right on the fire, instead of a pan over the fire. however, the quality of the meat versus other places, like mi barrio was less. i had the pupusa with pork and cheese. the filling was actually pretty darn tasty, however the outer layer was really burnt and very very greasy and just not well prepared.

Chips with two different types of decent salsas, both tasted almost the same. Good chips though.

Whoops! This is an overdue review from December…read more Xela Pan Cafe is a Guatemalan restaurant/bakery/convenience store on Buford Hwy in Doraville. Just a quick warning that, depending on which employee helps customers, there may be a slight issue with their understanding of English. They absolutely speak and understand Spanish. Xela Pan Cafe is in a small strip mall that is next to the strip mall where Kung Fu Tea is located. There is limited parking in front of the storefronts. This small business is made up of a restaurant, a bakery and a convenience store all run by the same employees. The convenience store sells a lot of seemingly random items, just about all in glass display cases. I noticed a lot of things to help with digestion and upset stomach, and hoped that this wasn't an indication of their food (Thankfully, it turned out that it wasn't!). The bakery items were in a separate area of display cases, but customers are free to self-serve themselves by using a tray to place whatever they choose, using either tongs or disposable gloves (I can't remember which they use) to take the items out of the cases. R and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning just before 9 am. There is an order counter, but that's for customers who are ordering items to go. Once the employees found out that we were going to eat breakfast inside the restaurant, we were told to seat ourselves and an employee would be by soon with menus. The restaurant area contains mostly booths, with some tables and chairs in an area between the order counter, convenience store and bakery areas. A very helpful and knowledgeable server came by our table, bringing a couple of glasses of water and menus. For a small restaurant, there were many items on the menu. We both ordered the scrambled eggs, rice, black beans, plantains and cheese. We didn't wait very long, in spite of other customers lined up at the counter to order takeout meals. The scrambled eggs with tomato and onion in them tasted a little bland, but I dressed it up with some bottled red hot sauce that was on the table. The plain tasting white rice, which had peas, carrots and corn in it, was pressed into a heart shape. The black beans in its watery sauce were very good. The plantains were cooked to a perfect firmness, and had a perfectly matching natural sweetness to them. The small block of slightly salty cheese also had a nice firmness to it. The price for each meal was very reasonable. Overall, this was a good dining experience.

The shopping center it's located in, Treasure Village, has cleaned up in recent years. Gone is Shooter Alley, the sketchy spa, and Buford Hwy Twin Cinema: https://bit.ly/382LKRC. The patio is completely uncovered so it's also available weather-permitting. During our extended lunch stay from about 12:00-2:30pm on a Sunday, we were the only walk-up "dine-in" customers. I noticed one pick-up takeout customer and another solo customer enter the building. When we visited, there were no other customers and we saw only three workers inside: a man and woman up front (the latter took our order) and an older lady in the kitchen. There was a language barrier, but we were able to order successfully. I discerned that the entire menu wasn't available during the daytime, but instead at night, which was understandable given the bulk of their business is in the evenings. Our server, Katherine, immediately directed us to several specific items on the menu. The menu was spiral-bound, laminated, sturdy, and colorful, filled with helpful pictures and descriptions in both English and Spanish. She pointed out a few chicken dishes, but when I asked her about other dishes, she also suggested beef. Note: Katherine said if we wanted true dine-in service, we had to eat inside. If we wanted to eat outside, we had to order to-go. Our food was served in disposable containers -- aluminum foil plates with paper tops, plastic bowls with snap-shut lids, and flimsy foam boxes. Menu items were affordably-priced with most entrees, except for the seafood entrees, under $15 each. Entree categories included salad, soup, sandwiches, Mexican, Dominican, chicken, steak & pork, stew, pasta, and seafood. Examples included menudo (tripe soup, small $6.95, large $10.95), a Cuban sandwich ($8.95), churrasco (grilled beef with chimichurri, $18.95), and a two-person paella (Spanish rice with mixed seafood, $40.95). They had a variety of apps and sides too. Examples included picadera (small $12.95, large $21.95) which is an assortment platter of party/finger foods, ideal for the club environment, and pastelitos rellenos (savory chicken and beef pastries, $4.95 per order). I didn't ask for or see a drink menu, but it's safe to say they have a full bar. After a little back and forth with the server, we settled on a few dishes: * Rabo Guisado ($13.50) - stewed oxtail * Bistec al Caballo ($14.00) - steak and eggs * Tostones ($3.50) - fried green plantains * Nestle Pure Life bottled water ($2.00 each) We received more food than we were expecting because each entree came with a *generous* portion of white rice and red beans and a salad consisting of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and a delectable salsa made of chopped red onion, cilantro, and tomato. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The rice was nice and moist, the beans were hearty and satisfying. The oxtail was served in a rich, oily stew that was absolutely packed with mouthwatering flavor. The oxtail meat itself was wonderful; excellent consistency. The steak was a cheap cut that had been cooked well-done, but what can you expect for $14 steak and eggs? It was fine and served its purpose. The steak was topped with two eggs, sunny side up. The tostones were good quality; thick and appetizing, but they lacked flavor. They should've had some seasoning and/or come with a sauce or something. Still, not bad though. Payment was handled via the Clover POS system. Check out N3dos on social media at the links below. Facebook: https://bit.ly/3elm7N5 Instagram: https://bit.ly/2HOaW3U

The ceviche was so excessively salty it was inedible, and the chicken was undercooked (raw) and completely flavorless. To make matters worse, the service was equally poor. When we complained about the quality of the food, the staff refused to replace the dishes or remove the items from our bill, stating dismissively, 'They tried it and it was fine.' We were charged for food we literally could not eat. Because of the atrocious food quality and the unacceptable response from the staff, this restaurant has permanently lost a client of many years. We started with toastones, mussels, and papa a la huancaina. All of which were great! The toastones were nice and crispy. They came with great dipping sauces, personal favorite was the green. The mussels were very light and refreshing. The papas were nice and creamy from the sauce. I liked using some of the green sauce on this dish for a little kick. I got the lomo saltado and it was full of flavor! I would definitely have it again. The service was good and experience was as well. We plan to come back!
