One of the best beach we've gone so far since leaving in LA. It's about 1.5hrs drive from Pasadena on a weekday. Beach is nice, clean, and not crowded on weekdays. If you decide to go weekends, it's decent, just walk to the left, further out and you are still social distancing. People respect your space. We came here twice already, both times with our pup. She loves it. Walking between the rocks with shallow waters. You might have a bit of tar on your feet or but you can take it off with baby oil. You will not be disappointed.

Mid January, 5:30 pm - sunset. Park in the lot, careful because google maps won't get you there properly. There's a surfers parking lot and a hidden beach. To the right is a sign to the park and the left are trails of wet footprints. I went one of the better directions. Through what looks like a makeshift jungle trail to the shore. There it is- Hawaii. So it could pass of it was way warmer. Awesome views, cute little locals surfer hut with a firepit and plenty of surfers out on the beach and the water. You won't find any tourists there and if you are one, try to blend in...but...you won't because you won't have a wetsuit. Choose a log, sit and watch. Great great spot. Having gone to many braces all over CA and HI, I have high beach expectations- this one by far one of the best. Next time, I'm bringing my glasses so I can see the black spots on all the waves better.

This place is amazing. And never disappoints!!! The sunset's are always amazing. Rain or shine, usually your neighbor's are friendly and it is a great place to just come and chill

What is this bug? and Does it bite?

Hey All, We have been camping hear at Faria Beach/Rincon for 15 years. This year there has been an unusual amount of these bugs all over the rocks. Question 1, What are they? Question 2, Do they bite?

No review of California surf beaches would be complete without a tip of the hat and a bow to the queen herself, Rincon. Rincon, the "little corner" by the sea, possesses one of the finest waves anywhere, bar none. This is California's tame version of South Africa's famous Jeffrey's Bay and it's why it has earned the honorific of the "Queen of the Coast". And rightfully so. Catch a big, outside wave here and you'll never forget it. With the right swell, you can take a wave from the outer reef and ride it all the way to the freeway, one of the longest rides you'll ever get and your legs will feel like rubber when you finally kick-out. A quarter mile? It'll feel like it! The shape of the wave is ideal for both short or long-boarders and both species will be vying for the perfect take-off position. While never as crowded or aggressive as Malibu, it does get packed at times and you should be prepared to stand up for your right to surf. Show respect and, most of the time, it will be returned. With internet weather projections and beach cams available at the tip of your finger, everyone knows about the approaching swell and it's getting more crowded out there every time...something you just have to get used to. So while Rincon will always offer one of the best waves in the US, it's no cake-walk and you'll have to earn your place in the line-up. If you're shy, you might as well stay home. However, there's always some good news: All the homes in the area have old. leaky septic tank sewage systems. That means they leach waste sewage right into the surf zone. Can you spell "giardia"? Many people won't surf here after a storm...some people don't want to get sick. I know, I was side-lined for a week after surfing a big ground-swell a couple years ago, on the tail end of a storm. So pollution can be your friend, in a sick, twisted way. "Hey Robin, was it worth it?" you ask. "Oh, hell yeah!" (big grin) (it'll be a perfect score when they replace the septic systems)

I absolutely love this beach.. My husband and I come here about 5-6 times a year and cant wait to come back. We have a trailer we park right along side the beach and have a front row view of the dolphin show every morning. We usually stay for 4-5 days at a time. It is very private.. It almost seems like u have your own private beach! It is first come first serve.. So on a holiday, you MAY NOT find a spot to park your RV or Trailer.. be prepared to turn around and camp somewhere locally and try again the next morning (if your determined to stay here). I love this place for its calmness. This is NOT the place for noisey party go-ers. There is usually an older crowd or families that frequent this particular beachside. Although, i have heard there is some theft that goes on after dark at times so i suggest always locking up anything of value.. bikes, generators, etc.. luckily, we havn't had any incidents. Even the winter days and nights are gorgeous!! But im a beach lover :) I have so much more to add but i gotta go! I'll be back soon!!

A long sandy beach, picnicking, and great surfing make this my favorite beach. There are awesome tide pools here along with island views and the occasional dolphin and harbor seal. There's lots of view parking with a ridge between you and the freeway which cuts the traffic noise, a restroom, and an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand from the beach walk. Turn right after you exit 101 freeway at Bates Road.

Gorgeous beach, gorgeous surf, gorgeous surfers, and lovely sunsets! I love that this beach is super close to my house, about a 5 minute drive if that. Great place to go watch a sunset, go dolphin sighting, or just lay out and relax!!!

This is a great beach for boogie boarding and surfing... Last 3 visits waves have been huge, the water warm and clear. There is a bathroom in the park which is nice, only one, but that's more than some of the other popular beaches in the area, also there is a fair amount of parking. The only downside to this beach is the long trip down the hill via stairs or ramp, making it a challenge to carry all out stuff down, and keeping me from bringing my paddle board.

It was so hectic to get to this beach due to all the road construction. And the beach was packed due to the various local children's summer camps and tourists. First, thing to note is the road construction. Possibly it's over by now. But when I visited, the road had no parking for the stretch right along the public access to the beach. It's free access and parking. The normal spots were taken by the construction crew and their equipment and materials. They were digging up the road. I saw a lot of folks parking in the road construction zone. The crew were calling tow trucks depending on where those cars were parked. Anyway, we parked really far away and hoofed it in while dodging dozers, street traffic, and construction crew. The access to the beach is limited to the open stretch where so happened the construction was occurring. Other access points are private property. Don't be tempted to cut through, it's illegal. Once you get to the public access area, you'll need to hike a wee bit of sandy elevation to cross the train tracks. Have your wits about while trekking near and on the tracks. Look both ways from afar and be ready to move to a safe distance if there is an incoming train. We ventured further to the far edges of the beach. The beach was clean. Sand was soft. Good vibes. Watch out at high tides if you venture to the far sides, the beach shrinks at high tide. And a rocky outcropping is beyond the sand. Plus there are no plumbed public restrooms, but I did see porta toilets.

Before I go further I want to tell ya all that "messing" (includes physically approaching and intruding in restricted areas) with the seals is a federal violation resulting in $10,000 fine. Plus remember the state& local crime punishable by more fines and probable time. We all know how much the government is hurting for some extra moolah. So don't be a doofus. The viewing area is free, no charge. All right with that said, you can view the website for ways to get to the overlook. All paths lead to using the Carpinteria Bluffs Trail. Plus for the love of all that you love, beware of the train tracks. Those are active tracks with real live trains. There are no bells n whistles to alert you that they are a coming. The tracks are not set there for a photo selfie opp. Don't linger on them and don't use them as a walking path. The summer weekday afternoon I visited, the extended bluff trail viewing area was closed. It was roped off. However the hedge, along the viewing trail, was overgrown so the beach below was not visible from that vantage point. So I went back to the area before the trail viewing area. And there was a small area where the hedge was not overgrown to view a portion of the beach below. That portion was closest to the private Casitas pier. But on this particular summer weekday afternoon, I was unable to view any seals on the beach from my vantage point. I'm pretty sure some were down there though. I saw a few swimming in the distance. Then unfortunately I saw a great white shark do what they do. It made a meal of a seal or two. Not a bad place for the sharks to hang out. Highly unfortunate for the seals when they do.

It was so windy that anything on the beach ended up getting a sand blasted exfoliation! The birds were having issues keeping up in the wind too. Nonetheless, this is a cute place to visit and walk around. The views are amazing and I love the cliffs. There are also small sea shells that have washed up on shore that you can look at. I guess I'll have to pick another day when the weather is better and then I can go seal-spotting.

This clean, beautiful park, perfectly situated on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean, was the ideal spot for our family reunion this past June. We'll definitely be back! Value - 5 The value here is incredible. We reserved Area A for just $65 for the whole day for our family reunion! It came with a large, double-width bbq, two picnic tables and a long, high-top serving table. That's a steal, especially considering places in Oxnard (which aren't nearly as bougie or clean) were charging well over $200. Quality / Cleanliness - 5 This park is impeccably maintained. There are two large picnic areas (require reservation) and several smaller picnic areas with bbq (first come, first served), and the large, well-maintained play area for kids is fantastic, including a jungle gym and even musical instruments. The path down to the beach is somewhat steep but totally worth it. The beach itself is super clean, with sand at low tide and lots of cute nooks and crannies to explore. At high tide, it becomes a rocky beach as the water comes right up to the path landing. Plus, it's pet-friendly! Service - N/A As a public park, there isn't a traditional "service" component to review, but the booking process for the picnic area was smooth. Physical Location - 5 The location is simply stunning. Being on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean is breathtaking. The park is clean, the amenities are well-kept, and there's a cute little town/shopping area just past the Amtrak overpass that's easily walkable from the park. Everything about this location is perfect.
