This park had a ton of great views and you can even walk down to the water. Besides that, all the play areas are super clean and the rest of the park at that. Above everything else, the restrooms were super clean and stocked with soap and paper! Not a common site at public parks lol. Great visit tho!

Great stop with an even greater view!! One of our favorite hop on hop off stops. Benches over looking the Pacific and a short pathway that leads down to the beach. Restroom and a playground for the kids to run around and stretch one's legs. Or just come by and watch the sun set or rise. Such a wonderful place to stop or even picnic with the entire family; including your fur babies!! They have dog and human showers! All the proceeds from the dog shower goes to maintaining the park. Unfortunately, they close at 8pm and no overnight parking.

Here is one of my favorite little places where you can stop when passing through. Summerland between Santa Barbara and home for me, Westlake They just kind of renovated this place in recent months, it's right on the ocean with very fast on off from the 101 freeway. What's there not to like?

WOW what a change!!! This was always a great stop between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. We pick up coffee at Red Kettle Coffee shop and head to the park to enjoy the gorgeous view of the Channel Islands. Now, a beautiful renovation job that includes barbecues, leisure sitting, bocce ball court and the best of all, ping pong tables makes this a full afternoon stop (we keep a set of paddles and balls in the car for these very opportunities). Bring the dog, it also has a do-it-your-self dog wash. Bring the kids, it has a terrific playground too.

How cute & efficient is this pet wash station??!!

What an incredible spot to come with family, friends, a date, your dog, or even alone and lookout at the breathtaking ocean beauty! This park is right off the freeway and generally has plenty of parking for all. I'd even recommend stopping here on your way up the coast for a nice stretching of the legs and to get some gorgeous shots of the view. I have been coming here for years to BBQ (yes they have BBQ areas open to the public), to walk my dog, relax on the beach, and so on. I love the new additions they've added in the past few years, such as the dog bath and new playground equipment. The city really makes an effort to upkeep the beauty and safety of the park. In the Spring the views are even better because of the stunning California native plants and wildflowers. Couples, this IS your cheap date spot! Arrange a picnic, go for a walk on the beach, enjoy the sunset, then walk a couple minutes up the street to the Summerland bars for a nice drink and live entertainment. More of a fly solo kind of person? That's cool too! Bring your dog here, come watch other people's dogs here, or go up to Red Kettle Coffee grab a latte and come back to sit on a bench and enjoy the views as the caffeine kicks you into gear. The moral of this post is - There is no reason not to visit Lookout Park! Young, old, single, married, or four legged there is something for everyone and you will not be disappointed!

NOT SANCTIONED TO BE OFF-LEASH. Bring your leash. Use discretion! Be responsible!! Or please don't come at all!!! This is a gorgeous place to share for people, dogs & horses alike. What a gift & blessing to have this slice of paradise between the Pacific & PCH. Footnote: PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOGS ;)

The county parks did a great job on the new east end of the park. Ping Pong tables, Bocce ball, fresh new bbqs and beautiful, native plants. Nice stop along the 101 with a great view of the Pacific ocean.

Wonderful flat packed sand beach for a long walk. The beach is blocked from the freeway noise by the houses on the cliff above. It is a doggies-run-free beach, and there is little wave action so dogs have a great time swimming out to retrieve balls. Access to the beach is via a walkway down the hill from the parking lot at the end of Evans street in Summerland. The park on top has restrooms, playground, shower, benches, picnic areas and grass for soaking up Summerland sunshine. There is another beach access parking lot at the other end of town. This beach is a hidden jewel and the park is a good bathroom stop if you are stuck in traffic between SB and Carp.

    Sunset!

Parking is Free and Plentiful -- In early August 2025 we showed up at 6:30pm on a Monday (to hike the preserve). There was tons of parking in the lots that abut The Boathouse, and the lots are always free for the public. There is also free street parking on the street just past the traffic circle. The hike/trail (The Douglas Family Preserve): A nice easy trail, and really fun for the doggos as it is an off-leash area. I'd say that half the people we saw on the trail had a pup, while the other half had no pets. The loop from the ground to the top and back is 1.5miles. There is 150 feet of elevation gain over a distance of about 1/3 of a mile; the rest of the hike is flat (w/ a large mesa at the top with lots of interconnected trails if you want to make the hike more extensive than a 1.5mile loop). Our dog not only enjoyed the walk, but had lots of fun trying to start some small play sessions with other dogs that she saw on the trail. Bonus: this trail uses the same parking lot as Hendry's Beach (Arroyo Burro Beach), which is leash free along the coastline east of the lifeguard tower (to the left of the lifeguard tower if you are facing the ocean).

The name really says it all- it's an open space. It's gated which is really nice, since I love being able to have my pup off leash. This area is very spacious, which is great for all dogs with different kinds of personalities to all be in one enclosed space. For instance, one side could be filled with the Golden Girls and their little, slightly territorial dogs, while the other is filled with large dogs playing fetch with their humans. I love this place better than any other dog park. I forget the name of the dog park that's a little ways away, but I absolutely despise that place (my review is on my profile). The dogs here are typically really friendly towards other dogs and people! The reason why I gave this space 4/5 stars is because the up-keep on it is minimal/nonexistent. I don't think anyone does any sort of maintenance, but I don't blame them (it's a collective action problem). It kind of sucks when it rains out, because it gets soooo muddy in my opinion. However, the dogs probably don't mind the mud AT ALL.

I like that there is some shade up by the park. The dog park isn't for me but I appreciate the layout of it with both the small dog section and the big dog section. It's not so much the park, it's the dog owners which made me take a break from this spot. Like other reviews said some people just aren't mindful dog owners and why they take their dogs to the park is beyond me. My dog is shy and attached to my hip so he didn't love the dog park to begin with. When I'd come here to this specific dog park there were enough instances of aggressive little dogs attacking other dogs that I kind of just became over this place. If I felt my dog was safe here I'd try to bring him more but with the little aggressive dogs & his disinterest we haven't been back for a long time. Some of my friends have said good things about this dog park so I'm sure it just depends on the day and which set of doggies you come across. My more updated review is for the pickleball courts. Came today and I enjoyed these courts. They are nicely painted and clean. My only upgrade is I wish they had more squares. Only two pickleball courts so if it's a busy day you'll definitely need to wait. However today wasn't too bad and we got to play a lot. Met a lot of nice fellow players and overall it was a good day. I like that the parking spots are close to the courts. Easy. A nice place to play as long as it isn't busy, wish they had more courts but I just doesn't seem like they have the room. I'll definitely be back though.
