I've gone to this park to take pickleball lessons on their court. Unfortunately, they only have 2 pickleball courts and a couple of tennis courts. The courts are well-maintained, clean, and I always find parking nearby. You can reserve a private court only on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, they have a dog park. There seems to be a big-dog and a small-dog side, and the dog park is huge! It's nice watching the dogs socialize and play. The park seems well-maintained, and both humans and dogs seem happy, although I've never observed long enough to see any dog/human drama. read more

Cute park to take the Puppy! My son's dog loves to come into the big fenced in area and play around with new and old doggy friends! The owners usually get their steps in walking the track around the park or sitting on the provided benches. The park also provides bags to clean up after your pup! I've been to Springville a few times now for the dog park and recently for Pickleball. I love this area of Camarillo as it's obviously very nice and safe. I like that there is some shade up by the park. The dog park isn't for me but I appreciate the layout of it with both the small dog section and the big dog section. It's not so much the park, it's the dog owners which made me take a break from this spot. Like other reviews said some people just aren't mindful dog owners and why they take their dogs to the park is beyond me. My dog is shy and attached to my hip so he didn't love the dog park to begin with. When I'd come here to this specific dog park there were enough instances of aggressive little dogs attacking other dogs that I kind of just became over this place. If I felt my dog was safe here I'd try to bring him more but with the little aggressive dogs & his disinterest we haven't been back for a long time. Some of my friends have said good things about this dog park so I'm sure it just depends on the day and which set of doggies you come across. My more updated review is for the pickleball courts. Came today and I enjoyed these courts. They are nicely painted and clean. My only upgrade is I wish they had more squares. Only two pickleball courts so if it's a busy day you'll definitely need to wait. However today wasn't too bad and we got to play a lot. Met a lot of nice fellow players and overall it was a good day. I like that the parking spots are close to the courts. Easy. A nice place to play as long as it isn't busy, wish they had more courts but I just doesn't seem like they have the room. Just to let all dog owners know, there is a big dog side, and a small dog side, if you put your little dog on the big dog side and it gets trampled who's fault is that? Or when a bigger dog tries to play with it and because of how tiny it is it gets hurt? Please keep in mind there are separate areas for a reason so no one gets hurt. Everything besides that, it's a great dog park so I would definitely recommend coming, from what I've seen there are some dogs that are older that don't like playing much and get snappy when younger dogs try and play, & there are some aggressive dogs every now and then but people come together to make sure everything is handled. When coming just keep an eye out on your doggo, and have fun it's honestly a great dog park. read more

This dog park has a great location and yes it is large. It is great - until it isn't. Unfortunately, not all dog owners are aware or take ownership on bad dog behavior. Dogs have been severely injured and some killed just for being in the wrong place with the wrong time. I used to go and it is unfortunate what I saw. *PLEASE READ* if you care about your dog DO NOT put them in the big pin!!!! I have been here twice and I have witnessed 7 dog fights in the big pin. The dog cooper which is a pit bull mix is a very scary dog and intimidated everyone! He is there all day every day and is always the one that either instigates or starts the fights. His owner is usually sitting down somewhere not paying attention and when you do call him out he gets an attitude about how his dog is totally trained. Other than all the blood shed I have seen the only two times I have been there, no complaints besides that and people don't pick up their dogs poop. WATCH OUT FOR COOPER THE PIT BULL!!!! P.S!!! Last time I was there a man comes with a huge Doberman with a muzzle on. He puts it into the big pin and you could tell this dog wanted to kill. Nice park, awesome dogs, friendly people. It was a Sat aft, not too hot and not too busy. Perfect. Lots of grass (no mulch, yes!), benches to sit on and ample shade. Tons of space for the dog to chase her ball, even with a chuck-it launcher. Well maintained park. Water available for your pooch. Poop bags there too. Regarding any parking lot, carry your valuables with you. Some people were speaking about having had their car broken into the day before, credit cards stolen and used across the street immediately. Bring your purse with you or leave it at home. Roll up vehicle windows and lock doors. Locals love this park. The views of the mountains are good too. On our way out today, we saw a red heeler come in and I was going to say hello to it's owner. Unfortunately, I never got the chance since it was automatically surrounded by dogs w no owners in sight. You could tell immediately that it looked uncomfortable. I wanted to intervene but i also had to watch my own dog. It got to the point where it was getting jumped by this other dog and it, of course made it known that it didn't like it. The Heeler's owner tried to take it away but it was too late, It was in full defensive mode and while it was running away, this same dog continued to try n jump on it. The heeler made it known it wasn't having it multiple times. It was so bad that it had to defend itself by going into offense by biting said dog ( still no owner). BRAVO to the heeler for mkeeping it chill until it wasn't. I'm completely ok w a dog defending itself so that these unattended and untrained dogs can be corrected. The worst part is that when the other dog's owner finally stepped in, she spoke as if it was the heeler's fault. EFF NO. It's yours. Don't be negligent just cause it's an enclosed park. Watch your flipping dogs at all times. My dog has gotten tackled while running after her own ball ( no correction from owners), lost her balls to other dogs cause their owners weren't watching, we've stepped on poop more often than we can count, etc... If you want to chill and talk to other dog owners, leave their leash on. This isn't a free for all day care where you leave your dog alone while you converse with other people. WATCH YOUR FLIPPING DOGS. read more

Dig parents should test how they want their dogs to interact because often they revert to puppy behavior, which is normal, but frightens parents that ecpect calm dogs all the time. This dog park is among the nicest in the area. One of the reasons this place is so well maintained is that soil is provided to cover up runny poops - no accidentally stepping in something wet! Good grass as well. There are two sections (1for big dogs, 1 for small dogs). The small dog area is a bit tiny and could use at least one more bench. The large dog area has plenty of room, plenty of benches, and a dirt path that is perfect to walk around laps. Sweet views of the mountains nearby too. read more

We take our 5 month old German Shepard here almost daily.. It's big and well maintained. They have buckets of soil around to sprinkle when your dog has loose stool and can't be picked up, which is nice. Everyone we have met has been kind thus far. Wish their was more than one water station for the dogs because if your on one end of the park, you have to walk a ways to get water.. but otherwise i have no complaints. read more

The park is great. Well maintained and MOST of the people are very friendly and obey the simple rules put in place by the Park District. Of course, there will always be people who think they are "above the rules" and do not have to follow them. There are SEVERAL LARGE SIGNS that state ALL dogs must be on leash until they are in the gated area. HOWEVER, MANY DOG OWNERS OF LARGER DOGS DO NOT Sadly, if asked to please put their dog on a leash because a smaller dog is frightened etc...they are rude, crude and basically obnoxious. IT IS A SAD SAD THING. Just this morning I had an encounter, finger motions and foul language was what I had to endure when I nicely asked an owner to put his two 90 lb dogs on a leash so I could take my 16 lb terrier down to the play area. SAFETY FOR ALL DOGS IN THIS TYPE OF SITUATION IS A CONCERN...THUS THE RULE!!! So, the park is great. BUT SOME OF THE PEOPLE ARE LOW CLASS, TRASHY AND DISRESPECTFUL OF OTHER PEOPLE. read more

I've been coming to this dog park for about a year and I love it. I've only started checking in recently. The regulars are friendly, good, fun people and my dog generally loves playing with all dogs. That being said I have seen an influx of aggressive dogs being brought into our fun and peaceful park. So, for new people who aren't sure about bringing your dog here, please check the Friends of Camarillo dog parks and the Camarillo Springville dog park website for restrictions. For example, If you are not sure if your dog is going to be agressive to other dogs( example-you just got the dog today or within a month), DON'T bring it. If your dog needs to wear a muzzle so it doesn't bite other dogs, DON'T bring it here. If your dog incessantly barks at other dogs and instigates fights, DON'T bring it here. Non-aggressive dogs ONLY. No breed restrictions, only behavior restrictions. I recognize that small scuffles can happen and that's normal. But to mitigate risks these rules are in place to PROTECT EVERYONE. Most of the good people here will just leave if they see a dog that looks suspect but if you are aware that your dog does anything on this list, or on those on the fence, for your protection and out of respect for the others in the park, do not bring your dog. Please take your dog to a licensed trainer for classes before introducing them to this environment. read more

To the owner of the dog who clamped onto and bit my dog's neck, refusing to let go: Do not take your dog back to any dog park or leave him/her off leash 2) Invest in some reactive dog training. If this happens again and somebody calls animal control, your dog could be put down. Don't be irresponsible and put any dog including your own dog's life on the line. My dog could have died had an artery been punctured. We are blessed that she is the sweetest dog and does not fight back or this could have turned out worse. It is so beautiful after the remodel! Definitely how a park should look, a safe soft ground for kids in the playground area, sand volleyball court, and a circular basketball court. I'm a huge fan of this dog park. Like most gated dog parks, it has a small and large dog side. The large dog park has lots of space for running and chasing balls which is great since this is a very popular dog park. If you want your dog to socialize, the best time would be 3-5pm. There's probably about 20-30 dogs any given time and still plenty of space for all of them to run and play. What I love most about this dog park is that it's clean and grassy. Just about everyone picks up after their dog, so if you visit please do so as well. There's no excuse not to! It is fully stocked up on poop bags and trash cans. Since, it is grassy it helps minimize how dirty your dog gets. However, there's no 100% guarantee because I'm sure you pup will have so much fun! I take my dog here almost every day and when he'll sleep for hours when we get home :) Most of the dogs are pretty friendly and I haven't had any problems during the few months I've been coming here. My pup has made so many friends and coming to Springville dog park has become a part pf our daily routine. read more

We just went here for the first time and we're very impressed! Our puppy has never had that much space to run around (even in other dog parks), he just bolted from end to end for about ten minutes! We love that's it's all grass as opposed to the Oxnard College Park one which is half sand/dirt. Also the owners at this one seem a little more prone to actually pick up after their dogs. People are generally friendlier as well; a much better sense of community. The only thing that would make both better would be a spay and neuter RULE but over all we will definitely be returning! My only issue is the park seems to close quite regularly for maintenance and on days it rains as well as the day AFTER. There's obviously nobody to call to check beforehand and making the drive all the way there from Oxnard just to find it closed is a little annoying. read more

Best park below the grade! Large enough for the dogs to spread out in different groups and play fetch without fear of hitting anyone with the ball. Most of the people we've met have been not only friendly but dog savvy. We have enjoyed playing in both the morning and afternoon. TIP: On the large dog side sure to grab a bag between the unleashing gates before you enter the main park. The bag dispensers are not spread out evenly. If your dog is anything like my Remy, he will furthest away from anything so you will have to hunt around upon returning from getting a bag. read more

The best dog park around the area. Very big and spacious for the bigger breeds to let loose and cover some serious ground. Most dogs get along well. Of course in the dog world like the human world not everybody will mingle and be cool with each other. After coming here in a regular basis and meeting many dogs and their owners, the general feeing is that some people who come here really need to understand their breed of dog, their quirks and actions, attitude and sounds they make, the tail wagging and when it is in a defensive position. Most of the problems the dogs have each other come from the owners uneducated false beliefs of a particular breed. More education the owner has the better it is when the dog is around other dogs. My dog is one of the bigger dogs that frequents the park in evenings and some mornings if I am not at work. He is very muscular and can clamp his jaw around a Huskies neck with no problem. He does not do this though because he is not aggressive. If a dog is overly aggressive Hercules will remind the dog they are here to play. If the warning goes unheeded and the dog attempts to be the alpha Hercules will flex his muscle and let the dog know he is the alpha. Hercules does not do this all dogs though because he plays with a few others that are and can be the alpha at any time. It is a respect thing. If you have a big dog and they like to wrestle, run, and try to catch balls then come on down. If your dog is uptight, irritable and discontent because you don't spend enough time with them and you think you know how a dog "should act" then come down and get a lesson in how happy a dogs life really is. Hercules of Oxnard loves to wrestle and play and run and stalk and roll on his back at Springville and he welcomes your dog, even if you don't know your dog. read more

If dogs get to aggressive most people just leave/remove the dogs, they helped me get my rescue acclimated to play with others. We have two little dog's and live down the street from here. It's nice it's so close to our house. And our newly adopted dog likes all the little dogs. We stick to the little side. For liability reasons big dogs should go to the big side and small should go small. Plus my small dogs want to play with your small dogs. I really enjoy watching all the fur babies play. Lots of dogs there at predictable times.....early morning, lunch, and especially evenings between 5 and 6. Sometimes the small dog space gets a bit too crowded at that time. Best dog park I've found so far in Ventura County. My fur babies and I moved down from Northern California where we were spoiled with great dog parks and even better dog beaches. Moving here I was nervous that I wouldn't find dog parks that were kept clean, had great dogs, and even better owners. The people who bring their dogs to this park here are friendly and respectable. Now my pups and I go at least 2-3 times a week! Pros: -Lush grass (I heard that shut it down every few years to put in fresh grass which is really nice!) -Large (I mean LARGE) open space for the larger dogs -Separate small and large dog areas -Fenced -Shaded areas with plenty of benches -Little picnic area with a table outside of the fenced area for humans to enjoy -Calculated, if you walk the fence 3-4 times, its a little over a mile! Cons: (why I subtracted 1 star) -If you come on a busy day you may have to park on the street (not that big of a con) -ONLY ONE watering hole for your pups!!! This park is HUGE and having only one is unfortunate. Wish they would install another one in the large dog area -No way to tell if they will close down the park for maintenance. It seems that they usually close down for the day if there is really high winds or rain the day before Currently this park is closed till the 17th because it is undergoing a full blown maintenance on the entire property (saw they were fixing the grass) So I have been going to Camino Real (does not come close to how great this dog park is) Can't wait for the 17th! read more

It's A really beautiful park and it has A large area for my dogs to play. I love taking my dogs here when the weather is nice. The people we meet are also really nice. I'm fortunate to Own A Pet Resort here in Camarillo. So when it's raining or cold outside. I can have my furry babies play inside at my place with all Our Pet families. I also love that this park provides a small dog area and A large dog area. It's important that dogs are well socialized. The only thing I wish is that their was a way to make sure every dog that came to the dog park was properly vaccinated and also 100% social. Not every dog can do well in a pack environment. Some dogs are better off with one on one interactions. I recommend if you're not sure if your dog would do well in this environment have them evaluated by an expert first. A dog trainer or A doggy daycare provider. Also make sure your dog is fully vaccinated for their protection and the protection of others. Overall I believe this Dog park is a great thing for Our Community. It provides so much fun for Our dogs. It's up to us to be responsible for the well being of Our furry babies.
